She found success in the entertainment industry as partner and head of the talent department at United Talent Agency, later becoming the top talent agent and partner at William Morris Endeavor - representing the best of Hollywood's elite. Dr. Hallermen launched Recovery Management Agency (RMA) in 2011, and it is the first-ever recovery management program of its kind. RMA is a consulting company providing clients with a team of managers to help them navigate their journey toward healing and recovery. Having been sober for years, Dr. Hallerman realized her lifestyle was making her sick - though she had freed her addiction to substances, she had not freed her soul. After years of trauma and substance abuse, she had only covered up the wounds, rather than truly healing them from within. So, in her 40s, Elisa went back to school, taking classes in drug and alcohol counseling at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2010. She now holds a master's and doctorate from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Depth Psychology and Somatic Studies, focusing on neuroscience and trauma. Dr. Hallerman is also a drug and alcohol counselor, and certified in yogic science for addictive behavior. In addition, she is a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine. Dr. Elisa Hallerman's first novel SOULBRIETY: Heal Your Trauma, Overcome Addiction, and Reconnect with Your Soul, is a prescriptive memoir on overcoming drug and alcohol addiction, PTSD and chronic trauma. SOULBRIETY explores how to recognize adverse childhood experiences and trauma, which if unhealed - are often at the core of most adult addiction and alcoholism - and touches on timely topics such as the traumatic events facing us every day: from a pandemic, mass shootings, political injustices, war, and terrorism. Request access only on Fireside to be part of the live show! Firesidechat.com/daniellapark As 2022 comes to a close, it appears a new breed of health-conscious sub-species has reared its head for all to see. Egotism and vanity have been attributed to the practice of fitness and physical health, but it has been retorted as unnecessary bias from a crowd, who may not have all its ducks together in the first place. And the Us vs. Them-thought process was any different maybe? Here's something to chew on why fitness is more advantageous than perilous unless you're a completely reprehensible glutton: Fitness saves lives Fitness saves mental health Fitness renews marriages The list could go on, however, to solidify these points and to provide more, we called in Kiola Raines to the show this week. Kiola has an extensive portfolio from certified nutrition coach to being a Peer Support Specialist. She has worked in many facets of the fitness industry and has used this knowledge to inject some positive physical education into the recovery community. She joins us on DIS Live to tell her story and to shed some much-needed light and details on how physical activity above physicality is how the ‘twain is to be met. Happy New Year 2023! Reinvention: Identity, Sobriety and The Wheel with Kevin Kreider @kevin.kreider Broadcast journalist and pioneer of BBC's HardTalk Chris Sackur once made the astute observation that artistic types are confined to a single label, as it is more convenient to survey the skill of an artist to the public, but . . . Art doesn't have limits, only small minds do as is paraphrased by Stanislavski. On this show and many subject programs, pay attention long enough and you'll notice that seekers and advocates of Recovery have a strong creative streak that spans mediums by the dozen and as such have ventured to create their own content to purvey their skills. . . . . . This show is a primo example. Commerce, meanwhile, at the same time has been a tricky shadow subject and to this day has kept advocates on their toes where Recovery is concerned - “How in the world could you charge something you can get for free?” comes the one statement, whilst “Recovery is NEVER FREE!” also has been heard for a foolish retort. Art and commerce are uncommon bedfellows as are Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, but the heart is what separates the boys from the men. Taking a stand when the deck is stacked high and breaking the mold. Kevin Kreider is the second coming to reinvent this wheel. Kevin has an extensive portfolio spanning the arts, business, and motivational speaking to name but a few. He has been featured extensively on multimedia with his endeavors to break cultural stereotypes (much like his predecessor, the legendary James Hong) in Television and Film and is featured on the popular unscripted series on Netflix “Bling Empire”. As a further testament to his versatility, Kevin used his experience and created a new opportunity with his new ready-to-drink zero-proof cocktail, Sans. He joins DIS Live to chat about his journey and the path he molded for himself to highlight cultural and career diversity. Rhyme to Rhyme, Beat to Beat of Recovery with Rami Matan Words of metered rhyme has been a pastime to get outage of inner - conflict or reflect Like with beat poetry, words have the propensity to make the audiences cry, think, become enraged and hopefully not kill anyone . . . There's no such thing as justifiable homicide. Words also have the ability to give hope. The best thing about sobriety is words are made concrete with action . . . . . Or beats as the case May be. This is why Rami Matan puts words to paper and makes them into beats. His heartbeat is moving on. His words are . . . There is hope and a future. He's here to talk about his story, his love of rap and combining humor with his beats to create another outlet for people to find courage . . . Without Dutch courage. Hosted by Daniella Park and Chris Nell. Be part of the show https://f.chat/psXg Every given moment involves change. It's an uncomfortable phase, but the meddle of every given human being is forged in fire - integration or evolution. What works for you and what doesn't? In a dysfunctional society and sobriety, a clear blueprint is never provided, which is why mentorship is almost a compulsory given. On the opposite end of the coin, continuous independent study is a faithfully enriching tool. The best part is it is going from failure to failure with unfinished enthusiasm, to quote late Prime Minister Winston Churchill, while also embracing change. This is the independent study that Jarrod Collier embraces fully. Jarrod has enjoyed recent success as founder of the initiative Strength In Time and his podcast, entitled Redeem Yourself. During his visit to DIS Live, he chats on his path to recovery, some lessons he purveyed, and how exactly to go about to Step Out The Box. You're invited to join us. How to know what Love is, a Love Story by Reverend Rex If you have been following this show for any measure of time, you'll come to learn that child neglect and abuse may often have led to the breeding of drug addiction. Tiresome as it may seem to some in society, the curtain is pulled back and the faults of individuals are laid at their very feet. In contrast, judgment is reserved purely by the court judge and the judgment of the Deity. What is overlooked by society, is how we, the sober and the daring, consistently raise issues without the help of normies, but rather through one another; we become more informed, more inspired, and less judgmental. However what we thrive in . . . Is telling the uncomfortable truth. And the truth is . . . YOU can't hurt us anymore. Reverend Rex is a disciple in this premise. A former heroin addict and certified coach among many titles in his oeuvre, he has spent his time teaching many former addicts about self-love through many practices. He has expanded on his skill through means of a podcast, entitled Know Love and he is currently spearheading preparation for a coast-to-coast biking event, due to kick off in the month of June, of the coming year, In June of 2023, Rex will embark on a coast-coast bike ride, from Seattle to Miami to raise money for Outreach, Awareness & Prevention Check out his social links https://gofund.me/79de0834 (This is the GoFUndME page for our campaign) https://www.facebook.com/ReverendRexS... https://www.instagram.com/knowlovefou... https://www.tiktok.com/@rexshadeseagle https://twitter.com/Ride4Lifeusa https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfUF... For both constituents of “normality” and early Recovery . . . Be honest it's an unpopular war. In the Big Book, a passage is even dedicated to how simpler times have been, when the sanity of the first drink was the order of the day. Now with all barriers stripped and deeds laid bare (don't get any ideas), now an uncertain future looms on the horizon . . . Although that notion should be replaced with the beauty of the Savannah to indicate what potential is to be found. However, like building muscle, or building a business or a brand, to quote the once legendary Australian rugby union coach and omnipresent commentator Alan Jones: “The Keys to success are the three P's - Pressure, Pressure, Pressure.” Luc Zoratto, a rising Canadian hobby athlete understands this well. Not only in athletics but as well as in life. Having achieved sobriety since 2016, Luc today is a doting family man and a devotee to his well-being. The opposite of loneliness in addiction is a community in Recovery. No person is an island and so rubbing shoulders with people who have an adequate amount of clean time can become a post for learning. A noble quote from our previous guest Alex Talbot states that RecoverWE is CommUNITY. In the second to third year of the program, students and adherents are motivated to try their hand at starting their own meetings or even influencing of community. True to form, we stretch our wings and extend our footprint to one of the four institutional seats of Europe and welcome Jessica Faulconnier-Weis to our program. Jessica is both culture-rich and articulate and has worked tirelessly to institute a recovery community, dragging constituents into the 21st century. She chats with him about her journey to sobriety and what stirred her spirit to begin planning the first sober gathering, in the very heart of Luxembourg. She's coming to DIS Live . . . We have Dareen Reed! A very informative episode if you are new or struggling in recovery or out of recovery! Recovery saved my life. I was broken. I was spiritually bankrupt. I had lost nearly everything. I had hit rock bottom several times but just kept digger deeper. I was at a crossroads, I had a choice, if I continued to use drugs and alcohol I would destroy myself and everyone around me as they watch me die. Or I could completely surrender to the disease of addiction and recovery. Recovery is a process of change in which people improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.... For me, this means recovery isn't just being

Another rather disconcerting dalliance with regard to addiction is its bedfellow of mental illness. A handful of criteria had been recorded as to be the sole cause of a mental disorder - brain injury, trauma sustained in a family setting, excessive bullying or worse yet . . . A curse of genetics. What is even more concerning is the after-effects that prolonged use of drugs and alcohol is a direct contributor to the development of such disorders NL. Anxiety, psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, and even bipolar disorder. But . . . It's never a death sentence. Tim Lodgen, the warrior of this week is a sterling example. Tim has been through the wringer in this life, but after a particularly dramatic event, the man has made it his mission to not become another statistic, but rather a statement, shining light, and an axiom for those who are afflicted and cannot fathom reaching out. We'll discuss his journey from then until now, how fitness plays a pivotal role and Tim will bust some myths and fallacies about mental health afflictions that float about society today. Tim is also a featured speaker that will take to the stage of the inaugural Empower 2 Recover A conference that is due to premiere in British Columbia this coming November. On Getting Sober and Staying Sober - Braunwyn Windham-Burke If the pen is mightier than the sword . . . . Mightier still is the registered coil of the mic and the sure- shot barrel of a camera lens. Pioneer Steven Spielberg believed at one time that television held more potential than the big screen itself; that statement wouldn't perhaps preclude the birthing of the concept of “unscripted” television. Reality TV in premise provides viewers with insight into how a person reacts to real-life, first-world dreams and dilemmas, although the notion remains conflicted if the captured content is faithful or industry “play-for-pay.” Although emotional transparency, including anguish and heartbreak, are qualities no one can fake and no camera can miss. Braunwyn Windham-Burke knows this all too well. She graced syndicated network screens as part of the ensemble series The Real Housewives of Orange County, which enjoyed a healthy run of 16 feature-length seasons. How does inviting audiences into one's private life affect one's mental state? Notwithstanding the lives of those we love? Braunwyn joins us to talk about her sobriety, life, and love beyond the cameras. Thanks for listening to DIS Live . . . And we want to hear her story. The world of rock ‘n roll has been famed . . . Or rather notorious for the full-tilt subculture of recklessness, although that phase came and went in the same manner as the typewriter. Whether that notoriety has had a lingering effect from a combination of tabloid journalism, continued participation by misguided followers . . . . The actual truth behind the industry of hard rock today has seen a paradigm shift, regarding socio-economic issues and even the build of positive relationship building with audiences locally and worldwide. Mark Kendall knows this facet all too well. As a guitarist and an integral part of the cult favorite Great White, Kendall has fashioned himself as an old soul musician who enjoys human connection and believes that even though a lot has changed, much ought to remain the same - record making, songwriting, purchasing music alike. Mark is also has a head on his shoulders, he has thrown his weight behind MusiCares which has seen him featured on radio and TV for his efforts in promoting Recovery. The man, the entity, the legend joins us to tell us all about it on DIS Live
Breaking the Generational Cycle of Addiction with guest Jenna Dillulio on DIS LIve on Fireside! Addiction we've come to learn hops like a bunny rabbit from generation to generation sitting on each of the individuals with a similar last name like an 800-pound gorilla. The truth is certainly that a question should be raised how to break that cycle - by being only present? Do we cruise through like a smooth plane ride from day to day in a quasi-sedated manner? Or can we faithfully embrace who we are by trying something new? Getting outside of the box and being whom you were created to be . . . Jenna Dillulio has the answers - she's a content creator, a beauty aficionado, and more. She joins us today to chat about sobriety and beauty, can they be one and the same, and what's more bringing that beauty to the fore. She may well be the inspiration for the tagline - “Maybe she's born with it.” Jenna Dillulio joins DIS Live Enjoy the show Live with us every Tuesday by getting access at Firesidechat.com/daniellapark Thanks for another episode xo Daniella Park & Chris Nell Next week we have Mark Kendall from Great White, tune in! As a result of being forgiving, grateful, and finally accepting his role in the trauma that he received, Michael Molthan can help others by sharing the supernatural experience he received and is still receiving as a result of true forgiveness. DALLAS, TX – Michael Molthan doesn't shy away from talking about his painful past of drug and alcohol addiction. On his talk show called, M2-The Rock, he shares how he went from building homes to being homeless. "When I had the homebuilding company my behaviors were getting worse and worse," Molthan told CBN News. "My consequences were getting worse and worse." Molthan was arrested on a drug charge in 2009. "I had a large amount of cocaine in my truck," he explained. "I was intoxicated, and I was arrested. And I'll never forget that when they took me down to the jail, I had my very first mug shot." Hitting Rock Bottom 26 mug shots later, Molthan hit rock bottom. "When I look back, that's how the word powerless – I'm powerless over this deadly disease," he said. Feeling agitated, anxious, and facing three years behind bars, Molthan underwent a spiritual encounter after an inmate asked him to read to him. "I grab this book from a gang-banger, a black panther, and he used it as a pillow," he explained. "Brand new book and it was the Living Recovery Bible, New Living Translation. Now, these are black words on white paper at the time. They're not meaning anything to me. Next thing I know, four days have passed by and I started thinking about this and I go, four days just went by and I wasn't anxious. I wasn't in fear. I was calm, and I was at peace." Life-Changing Moment Later that night, he experienced another life-changing moment. "I couldn't breathe," he recounted. "All of a sudden I felt all this trash and hatred and anger and resentment and everything just coming out of my body like flies. All this stuff was just coming out. And I just took this breath and I just go something magical happened and I was full of love, and looking around I loved everybody." "I started preaching and I didn't realize what I was doing," he said. "And I did it at the end of every dinner." Paperwork Error Leads to Early Release In 2017, a paperwork error led to Molthan's accidental release. So, with no money or food, he walked 300 miles to ask judge Jennifer Bennett to send him back to jail. "I walk in there to turn myself in and I'm excited," says Molthan. "I'm like, 'I'm going to go back to prison. I'm going to do my time, get this over with and get this behind me.' I mean, complete acceptance. God is running the show, right?" He continued, "I walk in there and Judge Bennett says, 'Mr. Molthan there's obviously someone a lot bigger working in your life than me and I'm not going to get in the way.' And she set me free. And she said, 'I want you to come back tomorrow with the self-correct program. I want you to go pay it forward."' And Molthan is doing just that by sharing his story of freedom and sobriety with those seeking help for addiction. Helping Others Trapped by Addiction Michael Molthan's passion is to help people by “raising the bottom” so that no one has to experience the pain that he endured. Molthan's speaking style is so relatable and he loves sharing his love for God and Jesus Christ. Jeremy Floyd, Minneapolis, MN, Sobriety date: January 17th, 2018 Drug of Choice was: Alcohol, Marijuana, Cocaine, Short Bio: My name is Jeremy Floyd born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Grew up around drugs and alcohol, gangs, rats, roaches, physical, verbal, mental and sexual abuse. There was no stability in my house growing up, there was always someone yelling or fighting. All by the age of 13, I witnessed my mom get abused, watched my dad go to jail, rehab and visited him in jail. I watched my parents go through a messy divorce. I was molested from the age of 8 - 10. When I was 13 I watched my twin brother died the day after Christmas. I smoke my first joint at 14 and for the first time, I could remember to that point it made all the pain go away. The first time I ever got drunk was at 17. I moved to Minnesota on June 12, 2009, to find a new environment but my old mindset followed me to Minnesota, and January 17, 2018, I was finally sick and tired of being sick and tired. So I checked myself in the Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge program. One of the best decisions I've ever made while being in rehab I believe I stumbled across my purpose. Which is to help others out of the same darkness that I made it out of and to use my story as a weapon of love, grace and redemption and inspiration to inspire others to overcome just as I have and still doing. Which led to me walking from Minneapolis, MN to Santa Monica California to bring awareness to people who struggle with addictions, suicide prevention, and homelessness. Along the way, I stopped at different rehab facilities and youth homes to tell my story with the hopes of others overcoming. In short, I love people, I love making people laugh, I love to listen (though I'm not good at it all the time I'm working on it) I love being creative whether that's writing stories or jokes. I love to love. I'm a big kid at heart that loves to learn and laugh. Oh, I also love to cook and I love dogs especially ones with floppy ears. My name is Amanda Washington, and I am 35 years old from Atlanta, Georgia!! I currently live in Southern California with partial custody of my 13-year-old son Ethan. I am currently going through a divorce after almost 15 years. My husband is an abusive alcoholic and his entire family drinks!! I have been drinking since I was 13 years old and never really gave it a second thought cause I made good grades, went to school, participated in activities, and kept a job at a small hometown pharmacy. On the outside, I was the perfect teenager!! My mom even allowed us to have a “night capper” as we called it at around 17 or 18 years old. My brother and I were allowed cause we didn’t cause a problem. It was the South, and we were angels compared to the teenagers around the neighborhood!! To make a long story short, I was already an avid drinker before marrying my husband, however, his military status sent the drinking out of control!! We were constantly trying to impress people with the amount of alcohol we could consume, never knowing that it would soon become a Terrible addiction in which I would need to fight for my life to break away from!! Eventually, my husband was kicked out of the marines, and we moved to California where all his family lives. Naturally, I took up more and more drinking because it was the thing to do!! Drinks It started at 5 pm and my in-laws always had a margarita waiting for me. They contributed day in and out until I became out of control. I would fight with everyone, blackout, and fall all over the place. After many years of drinking, it started taking a toll on me and physically my body could not go without alcohol. The family eventually came together with an intervention for me. They sent me to some non-medical detox centers in Garden Grove Ca. After a couple of days Of detox, I started having delirium tremors and was admitted into the hospital for alcohol withdrawals. That was the worst I had ever felt in my life coupled with knowing if I drank again I risked losing my family. They insisted on me going to an AA meeting right away after returning home. I did go to one, however, it left me feeling lost and depressed. I have not had a drink of alcohol since I was sent to detox on April 3rd, 2013. I credit Instagram and perfect strangers, as well as my own hard work and determination as contributing factors in my ongoing sobriety. My son, Ethan is the main reason I got sober!! I did not want him to see me drunk day after day as he was growing up. Thank goodness my son was too young to remember all the bad times from drinking.
My name is Jeremey Powell. My sobriety date is 6/3/13. My drug of choice was opiates but I ran the gamut on taking whatever. I am a 34-year-old who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m a building engineer who since getting sober has gotten married, had a daughter, got a great job Just bought my second house and I’m in the process of starting my own business. For fun, I’ve done some recovery stand up shows and love telling jokes and making people laugh. I’ve found that NA and AA crowds are the best for comedy. They’re not easily offended and you can push the humor pretty far. Now that I’m a dad and a busy guy I don’t have as much time to stand up so with John we started dopesickmemes. It’s a lot of fun and it’s a form of humor that can reach a lot of people in recovery and I can do between jobs or before bed. I love to make light of super serious situations. I know people die every day from this disease so instead of being sad about it we make light and make laughs. I make most of the memes and then he manages the page. It’s a perfect match.

John, Northern California, 5-22-2015 Oxy, if I had to choose one. Oxy, weed, and coke if I had to choose three. I grew up in northern California in a middle-class home. Parents are heavy drinkers. Though the household was chaotic, my physical needs were met. I discovered coke and pills during the senior year of high school and fell in love. I took pills every day from that point on by getting scripts from loose doctors using a series of injuries. I got married out of college and I was able to keep both my addiction and a regular life going until I was 31. That's when I couldn't handle it anymore. The lies, the debt, the depression, all of it finally crushed me while in southern California on a new job and I ended up in the ER on a three-day hold. Up until that point, I had tried everything to stop including AA, methadone treatment, just drinking, etc but I couldn't stay stopped and I didn't want to live or end it. This time I was done. I enrolled in an IOP for a year where I discovered AA and then NA. And life is good now. I'm a professional scientist at a large organization. I have real friends and my family trusts me again. I got divorced and stayed clean. I'm self-sufficient and my needs are met. Positive things are happening. Gallows recovery humor keeps me from getting too damn serious. My brother in law and I recently started a recovery meme page a few months ago on a resentment, @dope.sick.memes .It's growing quickly and that keeps me busy in my recreational time. It's a lot of fun and I've met a bunch of people.
Name: Heather Schaefer Sobriety date: Oct 4, 2012 Drug of choice: opioid painkillers and alcohol Brief bio: I was a stay at home mom of 3 married for 22 years when I came into recovery. I was a caricature of a soccer mom and I was wildly unhappy. I had been prescribed painkillers for a back injury and instantly became hooked. I started abusing my pain meds from the very first prescription. When I went in for a refill the pharmacist told me it was too early and I literally thought he meant “too early in the day” and he said “No, too early to fill. This is a 30 day supply and it has only been 9 days.” I did all of the typical addict stuff right from the beginning; ordering online, frequent flying at the ER, going to multiple doctors and so on. I went to jail for calling in my own prescription. I eventually had to start buying them on the street and at $5 a pill it became a huge financial problem as I was taking as many as 20 at a time. I pawned jewelry, including my wedding ring, and eventually started stealing from anyone I could. All the while I was also drinking up to 3 bottles of wine a night. I didn’t know how to get into treatment so one Wednesday morning I dropped my kids off at school and went to the ER and told them I wanted to kill myself. This got me 5150’d which led to hospitalization and then directly into inpatient treatment. Going to the ER that day was the single most important decision I had ever made. After completing treatment I moved into a sober living environment. I had absolutely mangled my marriage during my addiction and going home wasn’t an option. I had never supported myself before. My first job in sobriety was working at a gas station. My husband had worked for Porsche and I had been well taken care of so getting a job was difficult because I didn’t have any real resume or skills to speak of. I eventually got a job managing the house I lived in and then I became a district manager for the company and at one point was managing 15 sober living houses. I threw myself into my recovery. I took commitments, got a sponsor, went to meetings, worked the steps and my life started to get exponentially better. When I finally moved out of sober living my youngest child moved in with my boyfriend (also in recovery) and me. I created a stable home life and developed a strong work ethic but I also found something I hadn’t had since I was a child... a sense of adventure and fun. I have only had one sobriety date and my hope is to keep it that way. I do the same things now that I did in the beginning. I went into treatment when I was 40 years old and I am getting a second life.
Jaime T. Sobriety Date: 1/1/2017 Drug of Choice: Alcohol Started a New Year's cleanse back in 2017, that eliminated certain foods along with alcohol. I need to hit the reset button after a season of indulgences (really, an entire year). Somewhere around day 75-80, something clicked. The urge to want to drink had faded, and my life had become one I only thought possible in a daydream: eating healthier, working out regularly, more money in the bank, beautiful sleep, goals achieved, stronger body, clearer mind, connection to something bigger than me (and actually listening this time)....and so, when I would normally reward myself for achieving the allotted amount of time for a cleanse with a solid glass of red wine (or 3, or 4, or more), I decided I felt too good to pick up a drink on day 91. And have since made that my marker every day moving forward: I feel too good today to pick up a drink. Here we are, almost 3 years sober, to the day! Alcohol has always been predominantly my drug of choice however I am an addict. I have experience in NA as well. I'm very passionate about my sobriety. I had to learn that the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous works for all my addictions today. I'm very open about pretty much everything. When God did for me what I couldn't do for myself he left me with a great responsibility. It is my responsibility to pass it on. To help other people. To ensure other people that it does get better and it is worth it. Sharing my experience strength and hope with others has been one of the most important parts of my sobriety.
