She shares some of her key lessons she’s learned in the process of starting and running her businesses, including how she has learned to make decisions and move forward. We did it! You’ve listened to and I’ve recorded over 50 episodes (over a year) of the Shamelessly Feminine Podcast. But what’s the future of the podcast? What’s going on with the book I keep talking about? And how can we navigate the fear we feel? Well, you guys after a year of recording, I’m putting the podcast on hold so I can rewrite portions of my book, which (fingers crossed!) will come out in 2020.  But what does this mean for you?  This Past Year At the start of 2019, my book was almost done, but then the sh*t hit the fan and overwhelm kicked in. I put the book on hold because I want to rewrite portions of it because of all I’ve learned the past six months. My intention is that the book launches in 2020. To make this happen, the podcast is on hold, with the goal to record again in January 2020.    I want to know what you want to hear about so let me know either in the Shamelessly Feminine Group or via email.  My goal is to serve you guys. Working through the Fear This past year I was ravaged by fear. How do you know when fear is real or not real? I ask myself, “What do I have to lose?” Often times, the answers are “Time and money,” but how do you know if these are legitimate fears? Over the past six months, I’ve been trying to get back in touch with my self-esteem and self-worth. I’m trying to reconnect with spirituality through meditation and prayer.  It’s ok to lose touch with your spirituality.  Everything is temporary. The book is about fear, social anxieties, dealing with scripts that go on in our heads, spirituality, and self worth. My goal is to push through things and learn how to handle them.    Dare to be Yourself Listener, never forget to shine and to be yourself. I love you all. xo, Jen   Key Quotes from the Episode: “So much of what we fear actually can be legitimate, but it’s a matter of, ‘Can we handle it?’" “I can take on life.” “I’m coming to you not from a place of superiority but from a place of solidarity.”  “When you live your authentic life, you feel it.” Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join our Shamelessly Feminine Facebook Group Follow Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram   This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode55.

We say goodbye to the year that was with a whole bunch of movie reviews, audience interactions, trailer thoughts, and updates on the Oscar Race, Christmas Box Office, and Hollywood News. What we feared could have been a light episode turned into a loaded endeavor as we started things off by reviewing all of the biggest films to watch at home or out at the movie theaters. Aquaman dominated once again at the box office, and we reviewed it. Venom is also one of the year’s highest earners, it’s now on VOD as the Schmave's favorite film maybe ever, and we reviewed it. Then Netflix boasted some inconceivably high viewing numbers for Bird Box, and we reviewed that one as well. So as an art-house driven Oscar pod, I’m not gonna lie: we felt pretty cool reviewing all these popular movies for once, and we kept the momentum going by reading a bunch of your responses to not one, but two fun Twitter questions from our account @MMandOscar. We shared some of your Best Scenes of the Year after our recent halfisode where we told you ours, and we swooped in upon the Fox Searchlight ad campaign and put our #SixDegreesOfMMO’ers to work on their most recent challenge of Lupita N’Yongo to Emma Stone, which of course, you crushed. The Box Office numbers skyrocketed over the Christmas Break, and we looked at some of the other big news stories of the week including Black Mirror, Holmes & Watson, those Bird Box numbers, and what we’re looking forward to at next week’s movie theater in our Do You Care segment. Finally, we capped off the episode with back to back bangers: a trailer review of Jordan Peele’s “Us,” including a dumb white guy’s interpretation of the Luniz song “I’ve Got 5 On It,” and an Oscar Race update with a whole bunch of love for the cast of “Vice,” which we also just reviewed this past week in an OSP. MMOW has become a highlight of our every week’s recording schedule, our audience & our industry gives us another fantastic week of interactive movie talk, and if you thought this week was fun, we’ll have a special Golden Globe themed MMOW for you next Monday, Critics Choice reactions the following week, all leading up to the big one, our Oscar Nomination reactions on the third week of January. So whatever you do, make sure you tune into Mike, Mike, and Oscar every Monday. To join in on the fun with #SixDegreesOfMMO and our other interactive polls, pitches, & twitter questions, we’re @MMandOscar on that Twitter machine as well as Mike, Mike, and Oscar on Instagram Facebook, Reddit, and Gmail. The term “dissociation” can drum up quite a bit of fear in people.  Many will immediately think of what we used to call “multiple personalities disorder” and respond: “Hey, I’m not crazy!” But in truth, we all dissociate from time to time.     So what exactly is dissociation?  You might misplace your keys now and then or you might shut down in a heated argument with your partner, but how do we know if this is a disconnection from self?  From time and space?   It turns out, the clues are in our moments of calm, rather than the stressful ones.  Are we really experiencing calm?  Or, are we just checking out, numbing up?     This week’s guest, Stacey Steinmiller, LCSW-R, specializes in dissociation and is here to clarify the meaning of dissociation with a high level of compassion and nonjudgment.  She explains how dissociation starts as a useful coping mechanism to stress and trauma, when things start to go awry, how practicing both calm and pleasant emotions are the key to finding agency when confronted with negative emotions, and what EMDR’s got to do with it. Quoted in the Episode: “So much of this work about coming into one's identity is  understanding oneself.”  Rebecca Wong   ““It comes back to unlearning everything we're taught and re-learning who we are.”  Rebecca Wong   “We develop a false self to please the people around us, to fit in, to belong...then there's who we really are.” Rebecca Wong   “If you’re brought up in a household where there wasn't calm, you never learn how to be calm.” Stacey Steinmiller   “Once you're able to allow yourself to be in that positive feeling state, that gives you more agency to bring yourself from a negative feeling state to a positive feeling state.” Stacey Steinmiller   “Understand why you developed it, where it came from, what its purpose was. Understand that with compassion. And realize you don’t have to run that script anymore.” Stacey Steinmiller   "The treatment is learning how to be calm and tolerating being calm and, knowing nothing bad's going to happen if you allow yourself to be calm."
