(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Muslims in Congo killed 26 Christians at funeral Islamic extremists killed 26 Christians who were attending a funeral last Monday in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These attacks continued for two more days. Rev. Mbula Samaki told Open Doors, “The casualty as of now stands at more than 70 Christians killed, at least 100 kidnapped, 16 houses, eight motorbikes and two vehicles burnt. It is horrible.” Islamic extremists are continuing to target churches in the Christian-majority country to displace Christian communities.   Please pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ in Congo. The central African nation is ranked 35th on the Open Doors World Watch List of the most difficult countries to be a Christian.  Canadian court affirms Christian soldier who refused COVID shot In Canada, a federal labor board ruled in favor of a Christian military member who refused a COVID-19 shot on religious grounds.  Canada's Department of National Defense denied Marvin Castillo a religious exemption from the COVID shot. He was subsequently fired from his job in 2021.  In a landmark decision, Canada's Public Sector Labor Relations and Employment Board ruled against the Department of National Defense. The decision stated, “[Castillo] was entitled to an exemption because he has a sincere religious belief that he should not receive the vaccine.”  Castillo referenced 1 Corinthians 6:19 to defend the decision he made about what to put into his body. The verse says, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” Trump targets another Venezuelan narco-terrorist boat The United States military targeted another drug boat from Venezuela on Monday. The strike killed three people on board the vessel. On Truth Social, President Donald Trump wrote, “The Strike occurred while these confirmed narco-terrorists from Venezuela were in International Waters transporting illegal narcotics headed to the U.S. (A DEADLY WEAPON POISONING AMERICANS!) These extremely violent drug trafficking cartels POSE A THREAT to U.S. National Security, Foreign Policy, and vital U.S. Interests.” The United States carried out a similar strike on a boat carrying drugs from Venezuela two weeks ago. Court greenlights Trump defunding Planned Parenthood Last Thursday, a federal appeals court ruled that the Trump administration can defund Planned Parenthood. The case involves a provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act which barred Medicaid funds from going to abortion mills. A district court blocked the provision back in July. The latest ruling overturns that preliminary injunction.   Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, commented, “Planned Parenthood is quickly running out of friends in high and dark places, and we praise God for it. Over 40 Planned Parenthoods have already closed – we expect that number to grow over the coming weeks, and we'll celebrate every one.” Gen Z men support Trump; Gen Z women supported Kamala NBC News released a new poll on U.S. adults ages 18 to 29. The survey found Gen Z men who voted for President Trump said having children was the most important indicator of success. Being married was also a top indictor. Meanwhile, Gen Z women who voted for Kamala Harris listed being married and having children near the bottom of their indicators of success. Instead, career fulfillment and having plenty of money were the most important. Young men who backed Harris and young women who backed President Trump similarly prioritized money and career over children and family. Kirk's killer: “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it.”  Officials in Utah charged Tyler Robinson with aggravated murder yesterday. The 22-year-old is accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk while he was speaking with students at Utah Valley University last Wednesday. Authorities said Robinson left DNA on the trigger of the rifle used to fire the deadly shot. He also left a note for his transgender partner hidden under a keyboard that said, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it.”  Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray announced the charges. He said, “The murder of Charlie Kirk is an American tragedy.” After listing the charges against Robinson, Gray added this.f GRAY: “I am filing a notice of intent to seek the death penalty.” Waves of people returned to church after Charlie Kirk's assassination And finally, Faithwire reports waves of people returned to church over the weekend after the death of Charlie Kirk. Kirk was an outspoken Christian. He told Deseret News earlier this year that his goal was to point people “toward ultimate purposes and toward getting back to the church, getting back to faith.” Hundreds of people posted about their return to church over the weekend after being inspired by Kirk's faith. Listen to the testimony of one young mother of three about the decision that she and her husband made. YOUNG MOTHER: “After the events of the last week, Devin and I had a lot of talking about the type of life that we want for ourselves and how we want our boys to be. We talked about Charlie Kirk. We talked about a man of God who was not afraid to stand in his convictions in anything. “We are raising three boys that will one day be men, and we want those boys to be as strong in their convictions as Charlie Kirk was. And we realized we had been doing a great disservice by not taking them to church and introducing them to faith up until this point. It is because of Charlie Kirk that we went to church today.” Isaiah 55:6-7 says, “Seek the LORD while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him. Romans 7:4 — The truth that all Christians are united with Christ changes everything. It is no overstatement to say that the doctrine of Christians' union with Christ is one the most important truths for anyone to understand. It is this glorious doctrine that Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones expounds in this sermon on Romans 7:4 titled “Union With Christ: Its Nature.” Looking at the apostle Paul's epistle to the Romans, he shows that those who believe in the gospel have been delivered from sin and darkness once and for all. While all are born in Adam, all who believe are born supernaturally into Christ Jesus. It means that the law of sin and death no longer reigns in the Christian, and that they are now part of God's family and now forgiven from all sin. They are safe in salvation as Christ is loving and powerful. This doctrine is the ultimate hope against all depression, sorrow, and loneliness because it teaches that Christians have a great friend in Jesus. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” Obviously this isn't literal, but what does it mean? That I will never spiritually hunger? It isn't necessarily an enemy just someone you are at odds with you both throw down. At the end of the fight even if you lost you can shake their hand and say well done my friend, I underestimated you. My last one was with my wife… just kidding, but thats where we are going today.  I love watching the UFC, I truly appreciate it when two men start banging and they both stop once and awhile tap gloves as if to say… heck of a fight, nice kick, nice hit… it shows respect. Why in todays world do we as Christians shy away from a good fight?  1 Tim. 6:12 Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. Fight in the Greek 1. to struggle 2. (literally) to compete for a prize 3. (figuratively) to contend with an adversary 4. (genitive case) to endeavor to accomplish something Fight in the Greek 1. (properly) beautiful 2. (chiefly, figuratively) good 3. (literally) valuable 4. (morally) virtuous worthy {for appearance or use, and thus distinguished from G18, which is properly intrinsic} The one thing this verse reminds us of is we are in a fight, so if we choose not to fight, we choose to lose. Its not a choice as a follower of Christ. You love Jesus, you fight the fight of faith.  We have confused peace with being a pacifist. It is true, Jesus is the prince of peace, but he is also King and as King he leads us into spiritual battle…and that spiritual battle is against other people. We can love them, but still fight them.  1 Timothy says we are fighting for eternal life… I don't believe that is our eternal life but rather the eternal life of those who do not know Christ.  Having a "good fight" might seem like a contradiction, but it's a great way to think about how to handle conflict constructively. The goal isn't to win or dominate the other person, but rather to understand each other better and find a resolution that works for both of you. Here's a breakdown of how to approach a conflict in a healthy and productive way: Before the Fight 1. Pick the right time and place. Avoid bringing up a serious issue when one or both of you are tired, hungry, or stressed. Don't try to have a serious conversation in a public place or when you're in a hurry. Choose a private, quiet setting where you can talk without interruption. 2. State your intent. Start the conversation by explaining why you want to talk. This sets a collaborative tone. Try saying something like, "Hey, I've been feeling a little disconnected from you lately, and I'd like to talk about it. Is now a good time?" During the Fight 1. Stay calm and focused. It's easy for emotions to take over, but try to keep your voice calm and your mind clear. Stick to the topic at hand. If the conversation starts to veer off into old arguments or other issues, gently guide it back. Avoid using aggressive or accusatory language, like "You always..." or "You never..." 2. Listen to understand, not just to respond. The most crucial part of a good fight is active listening. Put down your defenses and genuinely try to see the situation from the other person's perspective. Ask questions to clarify what they're saying and show that you're hearing them. You can use phrases like, "What I hear you saying is..." or "Can you tell me more about how that made you feel?" 3. Use "I" statements. Instead of pointing fingers, focus on your own feelings. For example, instead of saying, "You make me so angry when you leave your dirty dishes everywhere," try saying, "I feel frustrated when I see dirty dishes on the counter because it makes the kitchen feel messy." This shifts the focus from an accusation to an expression of your personal experience. 4. Take a break if needed. If the conversation gets too heated, it's perfectly okay to pause. Acknowledge the tension and suggest a break. Say something like, "I'm feeling really overwhelmed right now. Can we take a 15-minute break and come back to this?" This prevents things from escalating and gives both of you time to cool down. After the Fight 1. Find common ground. Once you've both had a chance to speak and be heard, look for a solution together. This isn't about one person winning and the other losing. It's about finding a compromise that you can both agree on. It might be a small step, like agreeing to a trial run of a new behavior, or a bigger one, like seeking out couples counseling. 2. End with an apology and a hug. Even if you've done everything right, a fight can still be draining. A sincere apology for any hurt caused—even if it was unintentional—and a physical act of connection like a hug can help reconnect you and reinforce your bond. 3. Reflect and learn. After the conflict is over, take some time to think about what happened. What went well? What could you have done better? Learning from each fight will make the next one easier and more productive. Think of a good fight as a team effort to solve a problem. It's an opportunity to strengthen your relationship, not weaken it.

He asks for prayers that God would open doors for him to clearly proclaim the message of Christ, even while he is imprisoned. Paul also encourages believers to be wise in how they interact with outsiders, making the most of every opportunity and speaking with grace, even when in a position of authority like a master over a slave. He then lists several companions who are assisting him, including Tychicus, Onesimus, and others, and sends greetings to various churches and individuals. Welcome to the first week of the Gospel Spice Podcast's series, "Identity in the Battle," where we embark on a journey through the book of Ephesians. In this lesson, we'll dive into the heart of Ephesians chapter 1, focusing on what it means to have our identity rooted "in Christ." As we walk through Ephesians, we're encouraged to "taste and see that the Lord is good"—embracing the variety and richness that God offers. Overview of Ephesians Paul wrote the letter to the Ephesians while in prison around AD 60–62. The key purpose of this letter is to urge believers to walk as fruitful followers of Christ, serving in unity and love, particularly in challenging times. Paul's guidance in Ephesians is deeply relevant to our own spiritual journeys today. The book can be split into three main parts: Chapters 1–3: Who we are in Christ (our identity). Chapters 4–5: How to walk out our calling (practical Christian living). Chapter 6: How to face spiritual battles with the armor of God. Identity: In Christ, Adoption, and the Holy Spirit Paul uses the expression “in Christ” (or similar) ten times in the first fourteen verses of Ephesians. This repetition emphasizes that our identity is rooted not in our achievements, background, family, or appearance—but solely in who Jesus says we are. What matters is God's perspective of us, not the world or even those closest to us. Stephanie highlights that understanding our identity is a lifelong process, with four main steps: Discovery: Learn who God is, what He's done, who He says you are, and what He calls you to do. Acceptance: Move from mere head knowledge to heart-level acceptance. Truly taste and see that God is good. Transformation: Let your understanding of God begin to change you from the inside out—your thoughts, your self-image, and your relationships. Daily Living: Live in your new identity daily, relying on the Holy Spirit and the Christian community for support. Adoption into God's Family Paul employs the metaphor of adoption—a process which, in both Roman law and today, requires moving from one family to another, with full legal recognition and new rights. As Christians, we were once “children of wrath,” but God chose to bring us into His family, giving us full rights as His sons and daughters. This legal and spiritual transformation means that our old “family” (the world and sin) no longer defines us, and we now receive an eternal inheritance with Christ. The Holy Spirit: Our Seal and Guarantee Paul says we are “sealed by the Holy Spirit,” who is the guarantee of our inheritance. This sealing means we belong to God forever, and the Spirit empowers us to live out our new identity and purpose. Application and Encouragement As new members of God's family, we are called to let go of old habits and embrace the rights, intimacy, and inheritance God offers us in Christ. This transformation is possible because of the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, who assures us that we are deeply loved, accepted, and called. Take time this week to reflect on these truths. Prayer is a mystery. Why would a conversation with a human have any influence on God's eternal, sovereign plan? It defies logic, and beckons love. How can God, the Almighty Lord of Hosts, be this close, this personal? It defies understanding, and beckons involvement. But, lack of time, inspiration, and discipline, combined with the ruthless tyranny of our busy lives, push prayer to the periphery, to the “one day I'll get to it” pile. Let us take our place as image-bearers, co-laborers, and co-heirs. Let us believe that God is still listening—and still acting. Because He is. There's only one way to find out what might happen when we truly pray like this. Let's begin. THE MINDSET BEHIND THIS COURSE Before we begin, let me tell you the obvious: I don't really know how to pray. I'm a humble student and absolute beginner at the holy endeavor that is prayer. So, this course isn't really about what I've learned, or any wisdom I might have gathered. But, I've sat at the feet of many prayer warriors over the decades, through books and teachings. So, I'll share what I learned from them. Humility is going to be our primary heart posture! With each lesson, I will offer a few thoughts, practices, and ideas – with much humility, and not taking myself too seriously. I will also share her favorite books and resources about prayer. And yet, we can excel at what we endeavor to undertake. So, why isn't prayer more of a spiritual priority? Could we develop a mindset around prayer that made it attractive, inspiring, even maybe delightful? What if we attuned our spiritual ears to listen to God, and our spiritual eyes to see His provision? As an unassuming student, I'm going to humbly offer to share the little I have learned from others about the joy of prayer. I will give us theology, practical tips, and useful resources, sharing what works for me as we, together, learn to pray. We may never fully understand the mechanics of prayer, or how it intersects with God's sovereignty, but we are not called to understand everything. We are called to be faithful. And faithfulness means showing up—in prayer, in persistence, in expectation. So today, let us pray not only for the comfort of our hearts, but for the transformation of the world. Let us take our place as image-bearers, co-laborers, and co-heirs. Let us believe that God is still listening—and still acting. Because He is. There's only one way to find out what might happen when we truly pray like this. Let's begin. Plus, over two million people have been displaced and 1,600 villages destroyed. Trump compared Brazilian witch hunt of Bolsonaro to his trials As The Worldview reported on September 12th, Brazil's previous president, Jair Bolsonaro, was convicted of trying to overturn the 2022 election, and sentenced to 27 years in prison for it. U.S. President Donald Trump responded by comparing the ordeal with his own in 2020. He said, “I thought he was a good president of Brazil, and it's very surprising that could happen very much like they tried to do with me, but they didn't get away with it at all.” The Wall Street Journal featured a column by Mary O'Grady declaring that Brazil's courts have been turned to Lawfare — the use of the judicial system to achieve political ends.  Nepal's revolution leaves 51 dead and with new Prime Minister The nation of Nepal has been caught in a maelstrom of revolution for the past week, leaving 51 people dead, government buildings destroyed, and supermarkets and politician's homes burned to the ground, reports the BBC. The revolution was largely instigated by Gen Z, 18 to 24-year-old college-aged youth, after a social media ban. Nepal's prime minister resigned, and another was appointed — the first woman leader of the Himalayan country. The nation is relying upon Sushila Karki to restore stability.  She has promised $11,330 for each family where a protester was killed in the melee.   Similar youth-driven revolutions occurred in Sri Lanka in 2022 and Bangladesh in 2024, overturning these national governments as well. Isaiah 3:12 speaks of the instability of nations in similar terms. It says, “As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” The nations of the world which have appointed or elected the most female leaders since 1946 are Finland, India, New Zealand, and England. The average number of nations led by female heads hovered around 6 in the 1990s and early 2000s. Today, the average has increased to 15 female leaders.  Utah Gov.: Kirk's murderer was “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology” Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox has announced on CNN's State of the Union that official charges will be filed today against Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson. The governor also said, “The FBI has confirmed that [Robinson's] roommate was a romantic partner, a male transitioning to female.”  Cox added that evidence from family and friends is pointing to the fact that the alleged murderer had been “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology.” Romans 1:28 and 29 speaks of the progression of evil: “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder.” Tyler Robinson's trans roommate “hates conservatives and Christians” Fox News has also reported that Robinson's 22-year-old “trans roommate” "hates conservatives and Christians.” That according to an interview with a relative on Fox. The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told Fox News Digital her relative began to act differently when he turned 18 and said that he developed a hatred of Christians and conservatives. She explained that “He hated us. He was not raised that way, but he, over the years, has become really detached [and] been radicalized. … He has obviously gotten progressively worse the last year or two.” Transgenderism on the rise Transgenderism has increased across the United States — with 1.6% of American adults claiming to be such. That's four million Americans!   Pew Research estimates that 44% of Americans know somebody who is attempting to appear to change their own gender. The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland attempted the first gender mutilations back in 1966. The program was shut down in 1979. Then again, in 1997, the practice was reinstated by a Dr. Stanley Biber in Trinidad, Colorado. Biber's clinic became the gender mutilation capital of the country until the surgeon's retirement in 2003. These are the roots of the movement in America. Gold and stocks hit new highs Gold is reaching for new highs — scraping $3,670 per ounce on Monday. Silver reached $42.60 per ounce. That's up 41% and 38% respectively over the previous year. Stocks are up similarly. The NASDAQ reached 22,340 points yesterday, a 27% increase over last year. Meanwhile, the median house selling price has dropped a total of 7% since late 2022. Teen reels in 177-pound Halibut And finally, 13-year-old Jackson Denio of New Hampshire reeled in a 177-pound Atlantic Halibut  off the New England coast last week. That could be a world record for a youth catch. After wrestling with the fish for a half an hour on the line, it took three men to get the monster in the boat. DENIO: “It took the three deckhands and the captain to get it in the boat, and then, once it was in the boat, everybody was just yelling and cheering. FRIEND: “Jackson! He was born to wealthy and noble parents in Carthage (north Africa), and became a prominent lawyer in that city. Around the year 246 he embraced the Christian faith and was baptized by the priest Caecilianus. Immediately he gave all his goods to the poor and retired to a quiet place in the country to devote himself to prayer and study of Christian writings. In 248 or 249 he was elected Bishop of Carthage by the insistence of the people, though some priests opposed the consecration of such a new Christian.   Soon after his election, the Emperor Decius began a terrible persecution of Christians, during which Cyprian, in hiding, upheld his flock by letters. During this time many Christians gave in to fear of death and either sacrificed to the idols or signed statements that they had done so. When the persecution ended, the problem arose of how to treat the apostates who wished to be received back into the Church. Rigorist groups such as the Novatians and Montanists held that these lapsi had removed themselves from all hope of salvation and could never re-enter the Church. Cyprian rejected this view (as well as the position of some who would immediately reconcile the apostates); he established the position, still standard in the Church, that apostates could be restored after confession and long penance. His position led to a schism in the Church at Carthage when Cyprian's opponents set up Maximus the Montanist as a rival Bishop. The schism was only ended by a plague that swept the Empire and the city of Carthage in 253-254, together with a renewed persecution of Christians. Saint Cyprian's tireless care for the suffering during this time won most of the schismatics back to his side. When peace returned, Cyprian called a series of Councils in Carthage to resolve the conflicts that had troubled the Church. He upheld the African (and Eastern) churches' practice of reconciling heretics to the Church by Baptism rather than by laying on of hands, as was done in Rome; though Cyprian did not seek to impose this practice on other churches, Rome was not so tolerant and broke with the African church until the death of Pope Stephen.   In 256, yet another persecution broke out under the Emperor Valerian. Cyprian was arrested and brought before the Proconsul of the region. He refused to defend himself, and when told that he was to be executed, said only Deo Gratias!(Thanks be to God!). At his execution the holy bishop ordered that twenty-five gold pieces be given to the executioner, and put on the blindfold with his own hands.   Note: St Cyprian is missing on this date from traditional martyrologies because he was once confused with St Cyprian of Antioch (October 2). Today is the date of his martyrdom and the date of his commemoration on the Latin calendar.

People become like the environment they spend their time in. At least that's what I've been told. For example, if you work at IBM, you become amazingly well organized for some strange reason. If you live in a college town, or if you work around a college, it's amazing how your vocabulary can change; sometimes increases. Oh, and your clothing? Yeah, it becomes a little bit more collegiate. You know? I've noticed that people who live near the ocean or resort areas, they just kind of dress, you know, more loose, more casually all year long. If you move from the North to the South, you may very well find your pace slowing down to match your environment. When I moved to the New York area, I know my driving changed. They say in New York about the roads there that there are two kinds of people, the quick and the dead, and I decided to become the quick. You become like your environment. That seems to be a pretty consistent principle; maybe too consistent. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Drawing a Line." Now, our word for today from the Word of God comes from 2 Timothy 3 - one of the more amazing chapters in the Bible. If you want to read a startling description of the last days of this planet, read 2 Timothy 3 with today's newspaper or news website in your other hand. It's startling because of how it matches up with our headlines. Verse 1 says, "There will be dangerous times." And it talks about these characteristics of people that lead you to believe the reason it's going to be dangerous is because of the death of love. There won't be much love in that world. Paul's orders to Timothy are included in this chapter, and God's orders to us. Verse 14, listen: "But as for you, you continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of because you know those from whom you have learned it. All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. Now, Paul is saying if you live in a world that is racing away from God's standards, you can't afford to become like your environment even a little. See, there's always a noticeable difference between lost people and God's people. It's kind of my equal distance theory. There's always an equal distance between the standards and lifestyles of the people of God and the people of the world. Let's say figuratively speaking that the church, or the people of God, are always ten miles closer to God than the world is. The problem is that as the world moves to the left, away from God, so does the church. Now, we're still ten miles away from the marriages of the world, and from the sexual standards of the world, and their hardness, and their love of material things. But as the world moves faster and faster away from God's standards, so do we. We're still the same distance from our culture. So, in a matter of like five or ten years, we Christians are where lost people were only a few years ago, accepting what we thought we would never accept, doing what we never thought we'd do, watching, listening to what we never thought would be part of our lives. But we can feel pretty good about it, because we're better than the folks around us. But see, the rate of speeding away from God is accelerating right now, and God says, "Hey, you continue where you are! Don't move! Stand still! Don't move any further." He's not saying detach yourself from people who need Him. No, you live in the world, but you don't live as part of it. You don't march to that drumbeat. You know, you feel like you're pretty good if you compare yourself to what the world is doing, or maybe even what most Christians are doing, and saying and accepting. But that's not the measure. We're to measure ourselves by the God-breathed scriptures of the Lord himself. If you turn the light of God's Word on your lifestyle, maybe you'll see how far you've drifted. You just can't move any more. We've got to get back to God's standards for love, for marriage, for honesty, for family, our relationships. Our environment is terminally polluted. We can't be like our environment. It's time to draw the line.
