Julia shares her reactions to the 98th Annual Academy Award nominations! Including but not limited to, her reactions to everybody's reactions. Julia dives into snubs, such as Amanda Seyfried and Chase Infiniti, amazing talent from amazing people, such as Ryan Coogler and Rose Byrne, and, of course, the controversies. Julia dives into Timothee Chalamet's ballet/opera comment and how/why all the white men in the Academy randomly don't like him, a white man in the Academy?? There is also discussion of voters claiming 'Wicked: For Good' did not receive any nominations because Ariana Grande needed to be [checks notes] saved from Cynthia Erivo?!If you couldn't tell by now, this episode is a bit of a rant session. But, unfortunately, racism and misogyny run rampant even in our silly little award shows. Can't we all just watch movies and smile?!'Sinners,' 'No Other Choice' and 'Sentimental Value,' are touched-upon, as well. Please, we ask that everybody keep an open mind when Julia shares her opinion on #things.Buckle up, best actors, and let's discuss THE OSCARS!Tune in Monday ~2AM EST for Julia's immediate reaction to the ceremony where, quite literally, anything can happen. xEp. Nick kicks things off by diving into the 2026 Oscar nominations, running through his predictions and unloading on the snubs and head-scratching choices that immediately set him off. There's praise where it's earned, frustration where it's deserved, and plenty of strong opinions about how the list shook out. Marnie Shure returns to talk food, fear, and a little chaos. She brings along her monthly Horror Report with thoughts on 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, plus a handful of food stories worth paying attention to. The two also talk about the upcoming Mortified live show and take on the important work of taste-testing Nerds Juicy Gummy Clusters, with results that are taken very seriously. Esmeralda Leon joins later as the conversation drifts back into the strange world of forgotten celebrity talk shows. Names like Harry Connick Jr. and Fran Drescher come up, before landing on Chevy Chase and what might be the worst talk show idea ever put on television. It's Oscars, horror movies, candy, and bad TV decisions, all wrapped into one very on-brand conversation. [Ep 423]
The Oscar nominations dropped yesterday morning and I grabbed our favorite Oscar prognosticators, Katey Rich and Christopher Rosen of The Ankler's Prestige Junkie, to chat about what it all means. Does Sinners's 16 nominations mean it could upset One Battle After Another for best picture? What does it mean that Wicked: For Good took home zero nods? Perhaps most importantly: Will Delroy Lindo get his dang Oscar, as we demanded back in October? All that and more on this week's episode, including a SHOCKING prediction by Christopher at the end of this podcast. If you enjoyed this episode, make sure to check out their podcast. And please share this one with a friend! (And Delroy Lindo's agent, we gotta get him on this show to talk about his career, amirite?)

It's our favorite morning of the year! Or one of them, at least. We had a great turnout for our annual Oscar nominations livestream on our YouTube channel. In case you missed it, here it is in podcast form. Ryan Coogler's Southern Gothic vampire musical "Sinners" made history with 16 nominations, including best picture, director and the new category of casting. Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" was second with 13. We woke up bright and early to talk about the nominations that excited us (Delroy Lindo! Amy Madigan!) and the omissions that surprised us (nothing for "Wicked: For Good" or "No Other Choice"). What were your thoughts on today's Oscar nominations? Was your favorite film honored? Let us know, and mark your calendar for Tuesday, March 10 at Noon Pacific, when LA Times awards expert Glenn Whipp will return to help make predictions, category by category. Thanks for being here!
Ahead of Thursday's Oscar nominations, listeners call in to share their picks for the major categories, including best documentary.
