What a fun episode we have today with Evan Singer and Matt Cermak from The Par Train podcast joining us. We are filling you in on 5 ways you can be miserable on the golf course – this is a must-listen! Key Highlights: Expecting what you do on the range to happen on the course. A warm-up is just that: a warm-up. Your best swing or putt is an outlier, not an average. Trying to shoot your best score. When was the last time you actually shot your best score when you “tried” to shoot your best score? Don't reinvent a past victory. Instead, recommit to earn a new victory. That is, don't look at the finish line. Focus instead on the process—the journey—that will result in a win. Trying to impress others. Since we're only human, we can't help but care what others think; but, when we let the opinions of others influence our performance on the golf course, we end up doing worse than if we just put aside that insecurity. Assume you won't make mistakes. Just because your last round was perfect doesn't mean this round will be perfect. Golf is a game of recovery. Don't get too high, and don't get too low. Take care not to rest on your laurels after every good shot and beat yourself up after every bad shot. If you get too high, you create unnecessary pressure on yourself come the next swing; and if you get too low, you gradually lose the confidence and motivation to go on.   Check out The Par Train here: The Par Train   To join the Desert Classic Interest List, click here.     Don't forget about the T-Time Swag Giveaway! Matt Cermak and Evan Singer met through sharing the same best friend. Evan grew up with Ryan. Matt played on the college golf team with him. Together, they decided it would be funny to give a joint speech (or skit.. depends on how you look at it) at Ryan's wedding 5+ years ago. Let's just say they brought the house down. From that moment on, their spark with a microphone and shared love for the mental side of golf and how it can help you grow off the course, and led to The Par Train Podcast being created in 2016. The Par Train Podcast is by far the  #1 mental game podcast with over 900K+ downloads, 85K+ followers, and 15M+ monthly impressions. Evan has worked for companies like TaylorMade Golf, the NFL, and Uber and now has his own consulting company that helps golf brands with their marketing and trains employees on how to manage stress and perform. A lot of these principles in life apply to the mental side of golf too.Support the show

80-85% of stress in organizations is caused by ineffective, internal communication. That means, according to Evan, that organizations are standing in the way of their own success. In today's episode we get the best of two worlds, Evan Singer is a former-NFL and former-Uber leader turned people-first entrepreneur. He has used his experiences to apply a human-centered approach to leadership, communications, performance, and well-being through understanding stress and evolving mindset and resilience. We chat about the individual human connection to stress (why we experience it and how to manage it) and how organizations can inflict or alleviate stress on the system and its people. “The reactive and self-preservation role stress plays and the primal brain's response to threats and emotions. And the opportunity for us to use our evolved mind to identify and observe stress to mindfully find thoughts that provide relief to stress.” I've always believed that the role of an organization is to create cognitive ease and human-centered solutions to reduce stress, eliminate complexity, celebrate failure and provide tools for more resilient, happier and healthier humans in the workplace ☀️ Connect with Evan: https://www.linkedin.com/in/evangsinger/ The Par Train: https://www.thepartrain.com/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/humanlypossible/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/humanlypossible/support

Resilience & Redefining Stress On this episode, we are joined by former-NFL and former-Uber leader turned people first entrepreneur, and stress coach, Evan Singer. Evan has used his experiences to apply a human-centered approach to leadership, communications, performance, and well-being through understanding stress and evolving mindset and resilience. We chat about the individual human connection to stress (why we experience it and how to manage it) and how organizations can inflict or alleviate stress on the system and its people. Here's what you'll learn in this episode: 1. The reactive and self-preservation role stress plays and the primal brain's response to threats and emotions. And the opportunity for us to use our evolved mind to identify and observe stress to mindfully find thoughts that provide relief to stress. 2. Elements of organizational systems and behavior that can cause stress including fear of failure, perfectionism, confusion, and ego. The impact to employee, the organizations ability to be effective, drive innovation, and build an authentic culture. 3. The role of organizations to create cognitive ease and human-centered solutions to reduce stress, eliminate complexity, celebrate failure and provide tools for more resilient, happier and healthier humans in the workplace. 4. How to practice empathy as a neutralizer of harmful stress and how to shift mindset around stress to better build resilience.
