Is your golf swing stuck in the past? In Part 3 of "The Rebuild," I'm back in the bay with Quinn Vilneff, Class A PGA of Canada Professional at Gowanus Golf Club in Vancouver. We've fixed the chipping issues, so now it's time to tackle the full swing. The one that's been holding me back for years. If you struggle with pulls, wipey fades, or feel like you just can't compress the ball, this lesson is for you. Quinn breaks down why my 61-year-old baseball background is fighting my golf swing and gives me three simple, actionable feels to finally get my sequencing right. We go deep on Smash Factor, Center of Mass, ground reaction forces, and the "kinematic sequence," but Quinn makes it simple. The result? I gained 15+ yards with my 7-iron almost instantly just by moving my body differently. Are you more of a watcher than a listener? And it's the glue that holds it all together!
The fastest way to miss your target is to rush the swing. I've been studying the best golf swings in the world — and getting humbled on the course every weekend trying to replicate them. The problem isn't power. It's patience. Every time I rush my backswing, I miss. And I realized that's not just a golf problem — that's a life problem. In episode #1482, I break down why slowing down isn't falling behind, it's the only way to position yourself to strike when it actually matters. There's a moment at the top of every backswing where everything pauses before everything releases. You need to find that moment in your own life — and know exactly when to unleash. Hit play. Your fairway is waiting. Who This Episode Is For If you've been forcing results that aren't ready yet — this one's for you. Slowing down your backswing isn't weakness. It's how you stop missing and start winning. Key Takeaways Rushing to results before you're prepared doesn't just cost you the win — it can get you blacklisted A slow backswing builds the power and position needed to strike with everything you have Patience isn't sitting on the sideline — it's actively gathering energy for the right moment In running, in golf, and in life — slowing down is what ultimately speeds you up Know where the top of your backswing is — the fine line between patience and lost momentum Questions for Reflection Where in your life are you swinging too hard before you've completed your backswing? What result are you rushing toward that needs more preparation before you strike? Do you know the top of your backswing in your career — the exact point where patience ends and full commitment begins? Action Steps Identify one area where you're forcing results — a pitch, a launch, a relationship — and ask honestly: have you done the backswing work? Define your "top of the backswing" in that area. What does fully prepared actually look like before you swing? This week, slow one thing down deliberately. Not to delay it — to position yourself to hit it clean when it counts. Featured Quote "Slowing down isn't delaying your success. It's ensuring you're in the right position to strike when it matters."
In this episode of the Golf Beneath the Surface podcast, Raymond Prior and Chase Cooper sit down with Dr. Scott Lynn, a biomechanist known for his work in golf and baseball movement research. The conversation explores how biomechanics can help players and coaches better understand movement efficiency, power production, and how the body actually creates speed in the golf swing. Dr. Lynn explains why deceleration patterns are critical for generating power, how foot flare influences motion and ground forces, and why many golfers misunderstand what elite movement really looks like. They also discuss the importance of owning your stock swing and why meaningful improvement still requires time on the golf course, not just time on the range. This episode blends science, coaching, and performance insight to help golfers better understand how the body works in the swing and how that understanding can lead to more effective practice and better performance.Find Dr. Scott Lynn on Instagram @drsklynn. A feedback pod today, and if you heard last weeks feedback ep, we had a message from wolfpacker Jack who enjoyed the Top 10 Golf Courses in Australia list from Nick and Mark, and suggested a Top 10 Public Courses list....which we jumped at without really thinking it through. The challenge is that we were inundated with suggestions, however there's no real way to rank them, so we just read out a few of the messages and talked about a couple. Sorry Jack! One of the comments we had was from a New Zealand wolfpacker who used to live in Melbourne, and was playing at Brighton East on the day a very famous TV show and scene was being filmed right outside...he explains.Off the back of a vote for Narooma, Mark raises the sheer number of Hogans Alley's that there are around the world. Narooma having the famous Hogan's Hole.A message from a wolfpacker who has been a walking scorer and had some thoughts to add following our chat about The Australian Women's Open having walking scorers for the first two days this year. And a voicemail from John in Albury about Corowa Golf Club. We've had a huge number of messages about what has happened at Corowa, it's a very sad outcome for a famous course. And on a brighter note, Tim has tried Marks 'right ear' idea, has it worked for Tim? We find out. After the turn, this is very sweet. And it is a little visual so if you're listening to the pod we hope the comments make sense. We've had a message from Travis, he listens to the pod with his 8-year old daughter Sophie, who plays golf and asked her Dad to send some footage of her swings into Nick and Mark to review....which of course we do.We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:BMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; And watchMynumbers and Southern Golf Club. In this episode of Wake Up, Look Up, Pastor Zach uses an unexpected environmental issue—the billions of golf balls lost each year—to challenge the modern assumption that something is only wrong if its harm is immediately visible. Drawing on Proverbs 14, he argues that human perspective is limited, while God alone sees the long-term and generational consequences of our actions. The episode invites listeners to rethink moral decision-making, trust God's wisdom over personal perception, and consider how seemingly harmless choices may carry far-reaching impact beyond what we can see.Have an article you'd like Pastor Zach to discuss?
