As John Ternus prepares to transition into the role of Apple CEO, reports indicate that his primary mission is to revitalize the company's design department. Over the last decade, the firm's creative influence reportedly waned as operational efficiency and supply chain management became the dominant corporate priorities. To reverse this trend, Ternus aims to restore design to its status as a core strategic pillar, filling leadership voids left by high-profile departures. This internal restructuring coincides with an ambitious product roadmap featuring innovations like foldable iPhones, smart glasses, and AI-integrated wearables. Ultimately, the new leadership seeks to ensure that aesthetic excellence remains the defining characteristic of Apple's future hardware. While some analysts question if such a drastic reset is necessary, Ternus maintains that superior design is the essential engine for the brand's continued success.

Joanna Stern stopped by to chat with Marques about everything from John Ternus becoming the new Apple CEO to whether or not humanoid robots are the correct form factor for the future of helpful AI robots. They also talk about her new book (out now!) where she let AI run her life for a full year. Then they talk YouTube and going independent in media before wrapping it up with A Race to Z typing test. It's a very interesting conversation and we hope you enjoy! If you took that $25 billion and distributed it directly to the workforce = $1,562,500 per employeeAlternatively: They could fund a $100,000 annual salary for 250,000 new people for an entire year.Customers: Netflix has roughly 325 million subscribers globally. If they decided to use that money to subsidize the service instead of buying back stock: $77 per person.Netflix could give every subscriber on the planet roughly 4 to 5 months of service for free.Or, they could lower the price of every subscription by about $6.40 per month for a full year.Social impact:Various estimates (including from HUD) suggest that ending homelessness in the US would cost roughly $20 billion to $30 billion. It could provide a full four-year scholarship (at an average cost of $100k total) to 250,000 students. It could fund the eradication of several neglected tropical diseases or provide clean water infrastructure for tens of millions of people globally. For perspective, the entire annual budget for NASA in 2025 was around $25 billion. Netflix is essentially spending one "National Space Program" worth of cash just to tweak its stock price.Shareholders:If Netflix successfully retires that 6.4% of shares and the market maintains its current valuation, the stock price should mathematically rise by about 7% to compensate for the reduced supply. If the price jumps 7% (from $93 to roughly $99.50), here is the wealth jump:Vanguard: $2.5BBlackRock: $2.1BFidelity: $1.4BReed Hastings: $138MGoodliest of the Week (MM/DR):DR: Lufthansa Cuts 20,000 Flights to Save Fuel Amid Iran War Price SurgeMM: The Onion Says It Has Again Struck a Deal to Take Over InfowarsMM: Texas Capital stays incorporated in Delaware after shareholders reject 'Dexit' voteAre investors waking up??? On this week's special episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss Apple's bombshell announcement that Tim Cook will step down as CEO on September 1, 2026, with hardware engineering chief John Ternus set to succeed him.Cook will transition to executive chairman, where he will "assist with certain aspects of the company, including engaging with policymakers around the world." The transition was approved by the board and is the result of a "thoughtful, long-term succession planning process." Current board chair Arthur Levinson will become the lead independent director. Cook has served as Apple's CEO since 2011.Ternus, who has spent nearly his entire career at Apple, will join the board ahead of assuming the CEO role. He is a product person in the mold of Steve Jobs rather than a supply chain operator like Cook, and according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, he is expected to take a more centralized approach to decision-making. "If you go to Tim with 'A' or 'B,' he won't pick," one person who has worked closely with both executives told Gurman. "Ternus will make decisions." Ternus will take over in time to oversee the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro models and Apple's first foldable iPhone, both expected in September.Alongside the leadership transition, Apple said that Johny Srouji, currently SVP of Hardware Technologies, will take on an expanded role as Chief Hardware Officer, leading Hardware Engineering and reporting to Ternus. Srouji's remit will cover everything from product design to system engineering to reliability and durability testing. Cook described Srouji as having "played a singular role in driving Apple's silicon strategy" and said his influence has been felt "not just inside the company, but across the industry."In a statement, Cook said leading Apple has been the "greatest privilege" of his life and described Ternus as "a visionary whose contributions to Apple over 25 years are already too numerous to count." Ternus said he is "filled with optimism" about what Apple can achieve in the years to come, adding that he promises to "lead with the values and vision that have come to define this special place for half a century."Chubbies is here to keep you comfy and looking good year-round. Dan Nathan interviews Wedbush's Dan Ives on “Okay, Computer.” about Tim Cook unexpectedly stepping down as Apple CEO (remaining chairman) ahead of WWDC, Apple's still-unclear AI strategy, and why Apple's installed base could make it a key “toll collector” for consumer AI via edge computing, services, and an AI-enabled App/agent ecosystem that may drive higher hardware memory needs and subscriptions. They discuss whether Apple's valuation can rerate if it proves AI success and argue the new CEO should be more acquisitive in AI/software/robotics. Ives says fears that Anthropic/OpenAI will “unseat” major SaaS incumbents are a false narrative, expecting AI monetization to improve as features bundle into core products and pricing models evolve. They preview earnings setups for Microsoft, Google, and Meta, and share Asia channel-check takeaways: strong AI hardware demand, a memory supercycle, and potential geopolitical supply-chain risks. —FOLLOW USYouTube: @RiskReversalMediaInstagram: @riskreversalmediaTwitter: @RiskReversalLinkedIn: RiskReversal Media

JD Vance is headed to a negotiation with leader from Iran and it must be the strangest feeling in the world. I'm not sure we know who will represent Iran at the meeting or if they will even show up. How do you negotiate with terrorists and which terrorist is in charge? It was pure comedy gold when Mayor Q joined Al Sharpton on MSNOW to talk about crime in KC. You have to hear this slap fest. Home schooling is booming as more and more parents don't want their kids in government schools. And yes, we need to start calling them government schools instead of the old term. Apple is the biggest company in the world and their CEO the last 15 years, Tim Cook, has decided to step down in September. This is big news in the tech industry and big news in the corporate world. The Royals do it again blowing one in epic fashion Monday night... and it's almost impossible to describe how impossible it was to lose this game. They are so toast. The Chiefs have the 9th pick in the draft Thursday but their overall position is actually higher than that. I'll explain. The Washington Commanders have a new logo and it may be the start of bringing back their name Redskins. Lee's Summit West forfeits every football game from last year and fires three coaches and the PGA Tour ends a pair of tournaments in Hawaii after 56 years. Our Final Final is low cal, local, crunchy goodness getting a giant rebirth.
