Inside the Village - A weekly podcast featuring newsmakers in Ontario
From Mr. D to Family Feud Canada, Gerry Dee has made audiences laugh from coast to coast. This week, the teacher-turned-comedian really hits the big time: a guest spot on Inside the Village. He drops by the show to promote a new book — Funny You Should Say That — and an upcoming comedy tour of the same name. Dee reminisces with Frisco and Scott about his time in the classroom, his jump to stand-up comedy, and what it's really like to be a Canadian celebrity. Spoiler alert: plenty of people don't recognize him on the street. Also on the podcast: the world's most prolific loser of elections — 108 and counting — is running yet again, this time in Milton, Ont.
After I left radio, Evan Degenhardt was one of my favorite hosts on the local radio station. Climbing the ladder rather quickly Evan is now the General Manager/content manager to for Vista radio, leading the staff in Lloydminster and Bonnyville. Besides his radio career, Evan has a busy family life with three young boys and shares the challenges with the oldest being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 4. There's also the grueling process he went through with his cousins to get on Family Feud Canada and going undefeated! Not only is Evan completely interesting, he's continuing the fight to make Radio Great Again!

In 2021, a producer for the game show Family Feud Canada reached out to Rabbi Stephen Wise, hoping to boost the diversity pool of their show's contestants. When asked if he knew anyone from the community who might want to participate, Rabbi Wise didn't need to look very far: his wife, Cheryl, and her whole family are game show fanatics. That's how he joined his in-laws, the Kestelmans, on live TV in March 2022, winning three matches against three other families and walking away with about $2,500. Plus, they managed to teach host Gerry Dee a bit about Jewish life—an easy ask for a rabbi, the principal of TanenbaumCHAT and the director of a synagogue's afternoon school. Renee Cohen, the school principal, gives a behind-the-scenes scoop on what it was like being on the show and how they felt representing Jewish Canadians on national TV. A brand new week has arrived on our calendars and that means the gang from the Real Life Podcast is back with a brand new episode to help you get you through the next four(ish) days of your life. Today, the guys looked at Jay and Chalmers' trip to Mexico, the Oilers' losing streak, and a whole lot more. To kick off the episode of Real Life, the boys got started with a recap with a look at Jay and Chalmers' trip to Mexico that just wrapped up last week and how it was a real shock to the system to come back to Edmonton right in the middle of a cold snap. Needless to say, the drinks were flowing all week and it wasn't exactly surprising to hear why the boys didn't make it onto the podcast as promised. Mixing some Oilers into the trip recap, there is nothing that ruins a vacation night quite like having the team go 0-5 over the past week and change, especially when you see how the results are affecting their spot in the standings. Changing gears, the guys talked a little football after a wild finish in the Grey Cup between the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and how a costly rouge put the game into overtime which was an end that could only happen in the CFL. Getting back to the trip to Mexico, Jay was able to make another announcement on his vacay that he and his girlfriend are expecting a baby, which was obviously some major news for both of them and something to celebrate. Lastly, the podcast wrapped up with a chat with Captain Feltan about what it takes to get on Family Feud Canada after he revealed a few weeks back that it was his dream to get on the show.

Gerry Dee says he is thrilled to be back in front of a studio audience again as Family Feud Canada returns for a third season. The game show, shot at CBC's Toronto broadcast centre, had to turn studio audiences away last season as COVID safety protocols limited capacity to participants and crew. Dee, a seasoned stand-up comedy performer, suddenly had to aim his ad libs at camera and crew members only and, as he points out, “they're trained not to laugh.”This season a limited number of on-lookers are allowed back in for each of the 102 new episodes airing Monday to Thursdays on CBC.Dee also talks about a series he did work on in Montreal during COVID times: The Moodys. The Fox sitcom starred Denis Leary and Jay Baruchel. Dee, a loyal defender of his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs, says he talked hockey all day long between Leary, a big Bruins supporter, and Baruchel, who bleeds the Blue, Blanc Rouge of les Canadiens. On the podcast, Dee also talks about his hopes for the Leafs this season, efforts to get back on the road with a series of comedy concerts and why he feels his teacher sitcom Mr.d, which ran for eight seasons on CBC, had too short a title.
