In Part 3: George Jared and Jennifer Bucholtz continue their investigation into the 1975 cold case of Deborah Sue Williamson. Deep into this investigation, new witness statements are examined, inconsistencies identified, and surprisingly, downright lies are told, as our authors ask why anyone would lie about the known facts?  Now, straight out asking "why?", the responses become more mind-blowing, creating more suspicion as the situation evolves, with a critical witness mysteriously refuses to cooperate.   Applying statement analysis and examining the psychological implications of behavior provides greater insight into the motivation of a killer as well as those playing critical roles in this case.  Since publication, NA testing has been done; Whose DNA will be found at the crime scene?  What happened in that carport that dark night of Aug. 24, 1975, in a carport in Lubbock, Tx? Who killed Deborah Sue Williamson? It's now 50 years later! It's time to solve this cold case! Liz Flatt drove to Austin, Texas, mostly out of desperation. She had tried talking with the police. She had tried working with a former F.B.I. profiler who ran a nonprofit dedicated to solving unsolved murders. She had been interviewed by journalists and at least one podcaster. She had been featured on a Netflix documentary series about a man who falsely confessed to hundreds of killings.Although she didn't know it at the time, Flatt was at a crossroads in what she had taken to calling her journey, a path embarked on after a prayer-born decision five years earlier to try to find who killed her sister, Deborah Sue Williamson, or Debbie, in 1975. It was now 2021.She had come to Austin for a conference, CrimeCon, which formed around the same time that Flatt began her quest, at a moment now seen as an inflection point in the long history of true crime, a genre as old as storytelling but one that adapts quickly to new technologies, from the printing press to social media. Flatt met a woman who would later put her in touch with two investigators who presented at the conference that year: George Jared and Jennifer Bucholtz. They were podcasters, but Jared was also a journalist and Bucholtz an adjunct professor of forensics and criminal justice at the for-profit American Military University. Their presentation was on another cold case, the murder of Rebekah Gould in 2004, whose killer they claimed to have helped find using a technique that has quickly become a signature of the changing landscape of true crime: crowdsourcing. This story was recorded by Audm. "There are a lot of actions this killer took. Stabbing her 18 times, setting the house on fire.... They took additional measures that weren't necessary to kill her, a level of overkill."In the early morning hours of 30 April 2008, authorities in Kitsap County, Washington were contacted by residents in Port Orchard. There, along the 1100 block of Sidney Avenue, a fire had broken out, and just before 4:00 AM that Wednesday, the flames had become evident to sleeping neighbors.Firefighters quickly put out the flames and discovered the remains of the woman that lived inside, 47-year-old Linda Malcom. A Navy veteran, Linda had lived in the home for over a decade, and was prepared to move to nearby Bremerton just days later. She would die just a few feet away from her front door. Deborah was a newlywed. She had recently married a man named Doug Williamson. She was supposed to meet her husband at the Pizza Inn restaurant he managed. After she didn't show up, he became worried. He tried calling around to find out if anyone had seen his wife. At 1 a.m. he left work and found her lifeless body. Naturally, Doug was the primary suspect since he was Deborah's significant other. However, law enforcement cleared him because he was at work the entire evening and never left. Her case was basically forgotten for several years until a prolific killer named Henry Lee Lucas confessed to killing Deborah. This story was profiled on the Netflix series titled The Confession Killer. Today, the case remains as cold as the heart of the person who killed Deborah. This would change when an investigative journalist named George Jared and his partner Jennifer Bucholtz, a former Army counter intelligence officer took an interest in the case. Best-selling author and award-winning journalist George Jared takes his readers on another spell-binding journey with his third true crime book, Whispers in the Willows. Whispers is an anthology style, true crime book that chronicles three unsolved murders, a series of Death Row executions, and tells the harrowing stories of two Holocaust survivors. A 22-year-old college student, Rebekah Gould, vanished from a friend's house Sept. 20, 2004, near the town of Melbourne, Arkansas. Her partially clothed, bludgeoned body was found near a rural road not far from the house a week later. Her case has never been solved. It's been profiled on The Dr. Oz show, and was featured on the Hell and Gone podcast, one of the top performers in 2018. Jared has written about her case since the day she vanished. There's a glaring amount of evidence in the case that points in several directions, and he has dedicated another chapter about her in his newest work. Amanda Tusing, a 20-year-old aspiring veterinarian, left her fiancée' home on a rain soaked night. A few hours later she would be dead, and her case has baffled law officers for almost 20 years. Karen Johnson Swift was a mother of four that vanished just before Halloween, 2011, in Dyersburg Tennessee. Her body was found in a cemetery a couple of months later. Her killer remains free. Four men who committed unspeakable acts of violence and torture were set to die on Death Row in April, 2017. Jared was there for the planned executions and gives a detailed look into one the darkest places on Earth. The book also includes two Holocaust survivors and their tales of survival. The murders they witnessed cannot be imagined. Jared has also written two other true crime books, Witches in West Memphis … and another false confession and The Creek Sides Bones … Reality is more horrifying than fiction. Those books included chapters about the internationally famous West Memphis Three case. This might be the most unjust prosecution in U.S. legal history. If you think what happened to Steven Avery in the true crime film, Making a Murderer, was shocking you will be completely appalled by what happened to three little boys and three teens in Arkansas in 1993. Three 8-year-old boys vanished from their West Memphis neighborhood one sunny afternoon. A day later their mangled, nude bodies are found in a drainage ditch. Police and prosecutors believe the killings are related to the occult. Three teens are arrested one month later. Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley Jr. are convicted. There's only one problem. Overwhelming scientific evidence proves they're innocent and witness after witness has come forward to admit lies were told in court during the original trials. Award-winning journalist George Jared takes readers inside one of the most famous criminal cases in U.S. legal history. Witches in West Memphis gives a comprehensive insiders' view into the West Memphis Three case. No journalist has written more stories about the case than Jared. The author recounts his firsthand court coverage, interviews with witnesses, research, and other information he gathered in the case. Those interviews include a Death Row interview with Damien Echols, interviews with Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley Jr., and interviews with other suspects, including Terry Hobbs. He's been credited in numerous documentaries including the Academy Award nominated film Paradise Lost III: Purgatory and the New York Times best seller Life After Death. Witches graphically recounts how three Boy Scouts – Stephen “Stevie” Branch, Michael Moore, and Christopher Byers – rode their bikes after school on a bright afternoon. Their bodies are found in a wooded area near their homes the next day. The manner of death and the way they were bound, ankle to wrist, made authorities think Satanists might have sacrificed the children. Echols, a troubled teen with a seedy past, was immediately identified as a possible suspect. His best-friend, Jason Baldwin, and another teen known to them, Jessie Misskelley Jr., are arrested June 3, 1993, and charged with murder. No real evidence tied the teens to the crime, but an error-riddled confession by Misskelley was the proof used to seal the verdicts in the case. Read how they, referred to as the West Memphis Three, toiled in prison for years as their case stagnated in the Arkansas judicial system. As time passed, overwhelming scientific evidence surfaced. Witnesses changed their statements. New suspects rose to the surface. No author, documentary filmmaker, or journalist has had more access in this case. Jared wrote more news stories about the WM3 case than any other journalist in the world and includes Death Row interviews with Damien Echols. Those books also detail a series of the heinous capital murders he's covered through the years. The best-selling author's stories have been featured on the Discovery Channel, in the New York Times, the Hell and Gone podcast, the USA Today, and in many other media outlets around the world.

This real-life tragedy began on a stormy night with a knock at the front door. A friend needed help with his car. What happened to Carl, Lisa, Gregory, and Felicia that night is worse than any fictional horror story you’ve ever read or seen on the big screen. Little girls should never have to live in a barrel … Award-winning journalist and best-selling author George Jared takes readers on a gripping and chilling journey with his latest true-crime book, The Creek Side Bones … Reality is more horrifying than fiction. The book details how the Elliott family in Dalton, Ark., lived in constant fear in the summer 1998. How they met their fates is ghastly. Jared covered two murder trials in connection with the case, and provides his own theories as to how and why the Elliott family was murdered. Four other murder cases are also detailed in the book. Sidney Nicole Randall was a beauty pageant queen, about to enter high school when a monster stole her away in the dark. Bridgett Sellers was a mother of three who vanished without a trace while on a walk down Peace Valley Road. Her fate is incomprehensible. Bob Castleman was a respected attorney and Vietnam War vet until the drugs, murder, a live copperhead snake; Native American artifact fraud consumed his life. The book also includes an update on the unsolved Rebekah Gould case. The 22-year-old college student was murdered Sept. 20, 2004, in Melbourne, Arkansas. There are suspects in the case, but to this day, no one has been jailed for her brutal death. THE CREEK SIDE BONES: Reality Is More Horrifying Than Fiction-George Jared
