Send us a Text Message. This program is a rebroadcast from 07/01/23GUEST: SCOTT ANIOL, Professor of Pastoral Theology, Grace Bible Theological SeminaryAs we celebrate Independence Day, which commemorates the signing in 1776 of the Declaration of Independence, the founding document of our nation, when the original 13 colonies declared their autonomy from British colonial rule.John Adams was a signer of the Declaration, one of the framers of the U.S. Constitution (1789), and the second President of the United States. Likely not a born-again Christian but rather a deist (a believer in a supreme being who is uninvolved in the affairs of mankind), Adams wrote the following about the link between morality and civil society:“…should the people of America once become capable of that deep simulation [pretending] towards one another…which assumes the language of justice and moderation while it is practicing iniquity and extravagance…while it is rioting in rapine [violent seizure of property] and insolence [rude behavior], this country will be the most miserable habitation in the world; because we have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”We are seeing John Adams' warning prove true in America today. We are at a low point in our nation when laws are passed granting the “freedom” to kill a child anytime during the nine months of pregnancy, when the “degrading passions” of homosexuality are normalized and codified as “marriage”, when adults parade openly and lewdly down the streets in front of children, and when children are led into the sin of cross-dressing and physical mutilation in the name of “gender affirming care”.Wicked depravity is now tolerated and affirmed in our nation and the predictable results are division, confusion, chaos, violence, harm, and hatred. So what are Christians to do, who like Lot living in Sodom “felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds” (2 Peter 2:8)?Most Christians would say that our nation desperately needs to reclaim our Biblical foundations and establish laws and policies based on the truths of Christianity. But how would that take place? Is that Scripture's call for Christians and the church to work to “Christianize” government? This weekend on The Christian Worldview, Scott Aniol, editor-in-chief of G3 Ministries and professor of pastoral theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary, joins us to discuss “Christian Nationalism”, a term that means different things to different people. To some Christians, it means electing representatives who advocate for biblical principles in government. Other believers see it as a biblical mandate to work toward Christian rule over government and all institutions in society. While non-believers view it as religious extremists trying to institute a theocracy and oppress non-believers.Join us for a discussion on Christian Nationalism and what Bible says about Christians and government.
We're taking a break this week from our class on Reading the Bible for Yourself. By the way, did you know that there's a separate podcast just for classes without any interruptions like this? You can find it if you search your podcast app for Restitutio Classes. Anyhow, I had an opportunity to speak with Dr. Dale Tuggy about his recent debate with Dr. James White and wanted to share that conversation with you now rather than waiting until the end of this class. On March 9, 2024 in Houston Texas at the First Lutheran Church, Dale Tuggy debated James White on the question, "Is Jesus Yahweh?" White affirmed and Tuggy denied. Just to give you a little background on these two scholars, James White is a professor of Apologetics at Grace Bible Theological Seminary and has a bachelors from Grand Canyon University, a masters from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a doctorate of ministry from Columbia Evangelical Seminary. He has participated in over 180 public moderated debates and has written the book The Forgotten Trinity in which he presented his case that the Trinity is biblical. Dale Tuggy is an Analytic Theologian who has a bachelors from BIOLA, a masters from Claremont School of Theology, and a Ph.D. from Brown University. He's the chair of the Unitarian Christian Alliance and the author of What Is the Trinity?, which explains the major Trinity theories and the problems each faces. In what follows, I ask Tuggy how he thought the debate went. Listen to this episode on Spotify or Apple Podcasts The debate lasted over two hours and is accessible on YouTube. The format of the debate was as follows: Opening Statement (25 min each) Rebuttal (10 min each) Cross Examination (10 min each) Concluding Statement (5 min each) Audience Questions (20 min total) Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky2SaHscSIo —— Links —— More interviews with Dale Tuggy here Visit Tuggy's website at trinities.org Check out his books on Amazon, especially What Is the Trinity? GUEST: OWEN STRACHAN, author, The War On MenMaybe you've seen the t-shirt that proclaims, “Smash the patriarchy.” Or you've heard the gender studies professor say, “Masculinity is toxic” or “the future is female.”This is the spirit of our age, that manhood as prescribed and exemplified in Scripture is oppressive and the cause of conflict and injustice in the world. We have moved light years beyond portraying men as goofs and buffoons in television programs and commercials; men are now the enemy. The prevalence of homes without fathers, men who live to consume and amuse rather than provide and protect, or males who look and act in feminine ways, all point to a subversion of God's design for men. It's not surprising that the clear Biblical prohibition against female pastors is a domino tottering across Evangelicalism.Owen Strachan is our guest this weekend on The Christian Worldview Radio Program. Owen is provost and research professor of theology, Grace Bible Theological Seminary and the author of the excellent new book, The War on Men: Why Society Hates Them and Why We Need Them.We will discuss how we go to the point of scorning Biblical masculinity, and fundamentally, what Biblical masculinity actually looks like. This is a program for men and boys, of course. But it's just as much a topic for women and mothers to understand, so they can discern the right men for marriage and raise their boys to be…Biblical men.-----------------------The War on Men: Why Society Hates Them and Why We Need Them by Owen Strachan for a donation of any amount to The Christian Worldview.

The struggle between men and women goes back a long way. We're talking Garden of Eden-way back. Why don't we all just get along? Human sin notwithstanding many cultural forces are at work not simply in favor of women, but against men. Owen Strachan, provost at Grace Bible Theological Seminary, and senior fellow for biblical worldview at Family Research Council has written a new book, "The War on Men: Why Society Hates Them and Why We Need Them" to address these concerns. Owen joined host Joseph Backholm for a very manly discussion that you won't want to miss. In response to 20th-century feminism, there's a growing group of Christians who promote a “patriarchal” version of Christianity, which includes wives who dare not work outside the home and who are told to wear head coverings in worship. In response, the Woods are joined by Dr. Owen Strachan (Provost of Grace Bible Theological Seminary and author of multiple books) to bring clarity by discussing a more biblically balanced view of manhood and womanhood.

We have spent the last few weeks walking through principles to help us in how we can get the most out of our reading. In this episode, we share discussions we have had with friends of ours across the Christian publishing industry. In the first section, we are with David Woolin, CEO of Reformation Heritage Books. While they publish several books we highly appreciate, David points us to some works recently published and books that will soon be released. Second, we talk with Scott Brown, president of Church and Family Life. He recently wrote a book to help parents guide their children in worshipping God. Lastly, we have a zoom call with Jeff Johnson, pastor of Grace Bible Church, founder of Grace Bible Theological Seminary, and president of Free Grace Press. The Southern Baptists seem to be completely obsessed with Thomas Aquinas these days. Of all the dead theologians that one could flock towards, the Baptists are all about the Dumb Ox right now. But what exactly is this Reformed Thomism? Does Reformed Thomism offer a biblical view of salvation? In today's episode, I've got Owen Strachan on to answer these questions and more! Credits Host: R.T. Mullins (PhD, University of St Andrews) is a visiting professor of philosophy at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Guest: Owen Strachan (PhD, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) is the provost and research professor of theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary. GUEST: OWEN STRACHAN, author, Christianity and WokenessLast week in part 1, Owen Strachan, professor of theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary and author of Christianity and Wokeness, explained how the new religion of “wokeness” has taken captive the minds of Americans in every sector of our society: politics, education, media, business, and yes, even the Evangelical church.Owen defined wokeness as “being awake” to the systemic injustice that characterizes our nation, with regard to white-black “race” relations but also with other groups who identify as minorities and thus oppressed—women, homosexuals, transgenders, and immigrants. The ironic thing is that despite all the progress that has been made in hearts and laws over the last century to create a more equal society, it's as if the nation suddenly discovered what an oppressive nation we are.Equality is not the point—punishment and payback are. The oppressors (i.e. whites, Christians, males) must be toppled and the oppressed (“people of color”, “queer”, and women) must be put in power. This week in part 2, Strachan (pronounced “stran”) will explain how wokeness is really just an updated version of Marxism, how it rejects God's order for creation, and how it fosters grievance, blame, and division rather than peace and unity based on the gospel of Christ.Additional Resource:————————We will hear more from Twila Brase of Citizens' Council for Health Freedom on the proposed “pandemic treaty” between the United States and the World Health Organization. Also, General Michael Flynn will be the speaker at Citizens' Council for Health Freedom's dinner on Thur, Sept. 15 in St. Paul, MN. GUEST: OWEN STRACHAN, author, Christianity and WokenessThe Bible says, “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ” (Colossians 2:8).Notice the words—“philosophy, empty deception, tradition of men, elementary principles of the world”. And notice what these do—“takes you captive” or enslaves people from believing the truth of Christ and His Word. This sums up what America's new woke religion has done to the minds and hearts of both non-Christians and Christians. An empty, deceptive, man-based, elementary philosophy has quickly taken captive our leaders, corporations, schools, and even churches.Whatever it's framed as—“woke” or “diversity, equity, and inclusion” or “social justice” or “Black Lives Matter” or “Critical Theory”—it all fundamentally rejects God's assessment and solutions for mankind.Because this woke religion is so prevalent in the culture and the church, it's important for Christians to be informed about it so you and your family and your church are not taken “captive” through this “empty deception”.Owen Strachan (pronounced “stran”), Research Professor of Theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary and author of Christianity and Wokeness: How the Social Justice Movement is Hijacking the Gospel – and the Way to Stop It, joins us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to explain why America's new woke religion is not “good news” as the real gospel is.Owen presented a message at the recent Truth Matters Conference at the Ark Encounter in Kentucky that you can listen to here.-------------------------ADDITIONAL RESOURCE:Also in the program, we will hear from Twila Brase of Citizen's Council for Health Freedom who will give us an update on Covid and a “pandemic treaty” between the United States and the World Health Organization that would give that NGO authority during world “health crises”.Covid-19 Quick Reference Guide from CCHF:https://www.cchfreedom.org/files/files/--COVID-19_Quick_Ref_Guide--(1).pdf

Some christians were trying to ruin the internet again. On February 22 Grace Bible Theological Seminary posted a faculty photo on Twitter. It was a fun pic that payed homage to the famous photo of Westminster Theological Seminary's faculty from 1931. Many took this post as an opportunity to troll the seminary. Joe and Jimmy get into it, and encourage us all to do better.SPONSORLooking to start a podcast, or want to switch your podcast to an amazing host and distributor? Evanescent is not a common term in our language today, but it is being used as a means of attacking Reformed theology, and today we dove into Matthew 13 to address the issue, live from outside Conway, Arkansas. We are hoping to do another program tomorrow from Grace Bible Theological Seminary, but we haven't tested things yet, so, we will see-
How do we help others to know God? It's one of the most important questions you can ever ask in life. But not everyone agrees on the answer—even among Christians. When you share the Gospel, you're practicing evangelism. In this episode, we're going to discuss how your view of how to know God directly impacts how you evangelize. Johnson is the president and professor of Expository Preaching, Covenant Theology, Ecclesiology, Apologetics at Grace Bible Theological Seminary. He's also the author of the controversial new book, The Failure of Natural Theology, in which he digs into the epistemology and theology of Thomas Aquinas. Johnson says Aquinas, by drawing too heavily from Aristotle, misses the mark. In this second part of the conversation, Joel Settecase, Prof Khaldoun Sweis and Dr. Johnson discuss how to share the Gospel (evangelize) in light of what the Bible really teaches about how to know God. We were privileged this morning to have Delano Rolle from Grace Bible Theological Seminary in Conway bring the message this morning on the cost of discipleship.
Returning guest, Dr. Owen Strachan, joins us for today's conversation in answering the question, what is the problem with transgenderism? What is at stake here? After chatting about beards, they jump into their conversation with guest Dr. Strachan, the Provost and Research Professor of Theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary in Arkansas, along with being a Senior-fellow with Family Research Council (FRC). Dr. Strachan has written a number of books, with one being particularly applicable to today's conversation—What Does the Bible Teach about Transgenderism? How big of an issue is this facing the church today? Learn about the broader issue of destabilizing the divine design God established in Genesis and where the sinful heart of man ends up. Is there a culpability in silence on this issue? What is the responsibility of pastors and shepherds in considering and addressing this issue? They address all these issues and more.Taking a step back, Ray asks Dr. Strachan to explore how we got to where we are. They chat about Truman's The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self. While rejecting the doctrine of creation and embracing ungodly beliefs, the normalization of different things like homosexuality and transgenderism has become reality. Listen to their explanation of what the theological problem is with transgenderism. God is above and beyond man, but man is constantly seeking to be on the level of God. Learn about God's glory in our manhood and womanhood, and the created-creature distinction—the stakes are high, this is not a trivial issue.Ray asks Dr. Strachan to get practical with how this looks in real-life issues. What do you say to the parents dealing with this? How do you walk through children grappling with these issues? They address the shame and self-discrimination that can surround these issues. Learn about the wild, rebellious heart that is always an offense to God. Rejecting the will and design of God brings an appropriate level of grief. Pray and work to live in grace and truth. Learn about what it means to truly love your neighbor. Mantra is a powerful tool to shift one's outlook. Listen as they discuss the impacts and effects of mantra as conveyed through repetition of practice. Unfiltered entertainment is impacting the next generation and the repetition of what is being seen is determining what the people believe is normal and right. They touch on the underlying worldview in movies like Frozen. Learn to teach discernment to your children for both movies and music. Who is catechizing your children? As the conversation draws to a close, Ray asks, "Where does society go if we continue in this trajectory?" Dr. Strachan states it is a bleak future without the hope of the gospel. Christians and pagans are living together, we must be salt and light in preaching the gospel. Christian families need to be living witnesses in exerting influence on today's society. The church has been here before—look at the early church, what they were facing, and how they exploded in the face of a morally antithetical society. We can rejoice in the promise that the gates of hell will never prevail!Links:Visit the Living Waters website to learn more.Check out more on Owen's book, What Does the Bible Teach About Transgenderism?. Jeff Johnson wrote one of the most controversial books of 2021, and we're going to talk about it with him. How do we come to know God? It's one of the most important questions you can ever ask in life. But not everyone agrees on the answer—even among Christians. The study of knowledge is epistemology, and the study of God is theology. There have been very diverse approaches to both epistemology and theology within the church throughout history, but which approach is best? We're going to get into both epistemology and theology in this episode with Dr. Jeff Johnson. In this first part of the conversation, Joel Settecase, Prof Khaldoun Sweis and Dr. Johnson discuss the theology of Aquinas, and how his faulty starting point (i.e. human sense experience) led him to a faulty view of God. Today we're talking to Owen Strachan, a professor of theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary, about critical race theory and its complete incompatibility with Christianity. Recently, the Salvation Army launched its "Let's Talk About Racism" initiative, but the material in the program comes from the neo-Marxist view of CRT. Professor Strachan explains what the Salvation Army gets wrong and why the core tenets of critical race theory, which makes broad claims about oppression and racism, are totally different from the biblical definition of oppression and God's call to impartiality. We also discuss the relationship between Marxism and CRT and how this ideology pops up in society in often innocuous ways. --- Today's Sponsors: Annie's Kit Clubs has a new subscription: the Genius Box. Started off welcoming Dr. Owen Strachan, Provost and Research Professor of Theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary who announced my appointment as Professor of Church History and Apologetics at the school. I am deeply honored to fulfill this calling in teaching a subject that has been my work for nearly four decades now. I truly pray the Lord will bless GBTS and its work in equipping men to the work of edifying the body of Christ in these challenging times. I had thought we would only have Dr. Strachan on for a few minutes but, I was foolish, and we went a full half hour. So in the last portion I addressed a new paper that appeared today that says what I had predicted weeks ago- the selection pressure that is driving mutations in covid are coming from the leaky, poorly thought out, ineffective -vaccines,- not from the -unvaccinated.-
Andy Biggs, U.S. Representative for the 5th District of Arizona, discusses Fauci saying that we should be “prepared to do anything and everything” in response to the Omicron COVID variant, President Biden enacting a travel ban on African countries, and a Missouri federal court halting the vaccine mandate for healthcare workers. Gordon Chang, author of "The Coming Collapse of China," talks about China's Belt and Road Initiative. Owen Strachan, Senior Fellow with FRC's Center for Biblical Worldview, author, and provost and research professor at Grace Bible Theological Seminary, unpacks the woke agenda in the Salvation Army's curriculum. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loving-liberty/support
Greg Murphy, U.S. Representative for the 3rd District of North Carolina, discusses the infrastructure bill and Build Back Better plan, the vaccine mandates, and recognizes military veterans. Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Jerry Boykin, FRC's Executive Vice President and former commander of the U.S. Army's Delta Force, shares why we must exercise the freedoms that our nation's veterans have fought for. Bishop Ronnie C. Crudup Sr., founder of New Horizon Church in Jackson, Mississippi, previews the Pray Together for Life event on November 28. Dr. Owen Strachan, author and provost and research professor at Grace Bible Theological Seminary, provides a biblical framework for thinking through the COVID vaccine mandates. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loving-liberty/support

We'll get reaction from Dr. Owen Strachan, provost and research professor of theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary. Plus: What are the 18 distinctives of Jesus Christ? Owen Strachan is the Provost and Research Professor of Theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary. He received his Ph.D from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Dr. Owen has written several books, including his latest book, Christianity and Wokeness, where he speaks on the new philosophy that is infecting churches with Marxist ideology. Kyle and Ethan dig in deep with Dr. Owen about defining wokeness and how it has been affecting churches. Dr. Owen describes how the wokeness ideology keeps people from ever leaving their oppression. He goes onto describing how white people are being told that they can never escape themselves being oppressors. Kyle and Ethan find out more about the complex issues that are fueling wokeness. In the subscriber portion, Kyle and Ethan find out more about Dr. Owen's views on the movie, 1917 and how the director, Sam Mendes is up to something deeper than mere movie gimmicks. Kyle and Ethan continue their streak of flawless segues by moving the conversation into why Dr. Owen has problems with Thomas Aquinas. Kyle and Ethan fulfill their promise and find out from Dr. Owen on how to stop wokeness in your church. They finish the interview with the ever amazing 10 questions.
(Part 2) We keep hearing about "wokeness." Owen Strachan with Grace Bible Theological Seminary insists the core of wokeness does not line up with the message of Christianity.
