We look at the Acer Connect X6e router, see more about it here. Acer Connect X6e router reviewed This product came out last year, but still might not be on your radar in terms of an option for your next router, depending on whether you knew that Acer are making more than just laptops. It is relatively heavy, but, once sited and set up, this may give it a bit more durability than some of the flimsier models on the market. For our testers one of the use cases is the ability to transfer it from various locations depending on where they will be based next. This model's solidity and heft actually stood it in good stead compared to some other options which tended to get a bit damaged in transit. With this model there are less delicate, moving parts and this actually works quite well, and was a positive aspect to the router. Out of the box the device worked well, and it has good security protocols too, you just need to remember to set them up of course. Maybe it will even play better with your laptop if it is an Acer too, but it worked well with all devices that came within range of it. Accessibility to ports is good for all options apart from the one on the underneath of the base, maybe that one is for when it is attached to a wall, or floating in space perhaps. That to one solid, the weight and solidity work well in terms of avoiding cat, children or just clumsy operators. Our testers liked it, and are hopeful that they can get their hands on some of the newer Acer products that have caught their eyes next, especially the outdoors charging rigs. Now that could be interesting… More about the device Acer 5G Router | Connect X6E Ref.
Tech giant Panasonic has converted its 50-year-old microwave production facility in Cardiff, Wales, to operate entirely on renewable energy. This project, the company's first in Europe, integrates solar, hydrogen fuel cells, and battery storage to power the factory sustainably. Inside, workers continue assembling microwave ovens, and the hope is that this entire operation will be using energy generated on-site from renewable sources. Robert Blowers, Managing Director, Panasonic Manufacturing UK says, "As part of the Panasonic Manufacturing UK 50th anniversary, Panasonic Corporation have invested in the first European Panasonic HX facility, and that's going to be based here in Cardiff. That's a combination of solar system, that's a combination of storage battery and hydrogen fuel cells to power the microwave oven facility in Panasonic Manufacturing UK using 100% on-site renewable energy." The renewable energy system combines solar photovoltaic panels (PV), hydrogen fuel cells, and battery storage units to provide a reliable power source for the factory. This system ensures the factory is self-sufficient, a strategic move as Panasonic seeks to reduce reliance on external power sources amid global energy instability. The technology, part of Panasonic's RE100 project, was successfully trialed in Japan and is now being implemented in Europe for the first time. Shigeki Yasuda, Senior Engineer who worked on the RE100 project at Panasonic says, "On sunny days solar PV covers the demand (in electricity) for the factory, but on cloudy or rainy days fuel cells start up immediately and covers demand for the factory." The factory was officially unveiled on December 3, 2024, at a ceremony attended by Panasonic executives, local politicians, and dignitaries. Masahiro Shinada, Panasonic Corporation's CEO, says investing in hydrogen is a pivotal moment for the company, and he looks forward to a future where hydrogen is used more often as a way to shift to renewable energy. Panasonic says the Cardiff facility will serve as a model for future projects in Europe, showcasing renewable energy's potential for industrial operations. As NY Climate Week draws to a close, the Energy Gang wraps up a week of discussions, debates and pledges on the energy transition. As the UN General Assembly got underway across New York, Climate Week brought together leaders from energy and climate to share ideas and push forward real solutions for climate change. Ed Crooks sits down with Climate Group CEO Helen Clarkson to dissect the big stories that emerged from the week. Climate Week has evolved from a business-focused event to a larger platform, engaging diverse sectors in climate action. Helen explains the evolution of the event, which focused initially on answering the question of why companies should act on climate, and now centres around how they can implement solutions. Regulatory changes are one of the biggest barriers, and Helen and Ed discuss how to overcome these to facilitate renewable energy expansion. Initiatives such as RE100 and the 24/7 clean electricity group were key themes throughout the week, stressing the urgency of climate action and how it aligns with energy security.Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, also joins the show to discuss the U.S. government's role in supporting Ukraine's energy security amid the ongoing conflict with Russia, and the importance of building a resilient energy infrastructure. He says one of the key talking points throughout his meetings at Climate Week have been the importance of a critical minerals supply chain, highlighting efforts to reduce dependence on China by creating a sustainable and ethical framework for mineral extraction and processing. Plus, Ed and Ambassador Pyatt debate the role of the U.S. in leading the energy transition globally. In this episode of Smart Energy Voices, host John Failla shares a special keynote presentation from the inaugural Net Zero Forum featuring Andy Smith, Senior Manager of Global Energy Management and Sustainability at Cisco Systems. In his presentation, Andy provides a deep dive into the process Cisco recently went through to evaluate, establish and certify its net-zero goal through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in... Powering an inclusive future for all [02:22] Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) [04:50] Third-party verification of goals [07:05] Cisco's Scope 3 challenges [10:58] Real estate transformation [13:56] Carbon offset strategy [16:14] Creating new goals Cisco has a long history of setting ambitious climate and sustainability goals. Over the last couple of years, the organization realized it needed to catch up with some market trends. While the company had an aggressive, absolute greenhouse gas reduction goal and an 85% renewable electricity target, the other leaders in sustainability were setting RE100 and net-zero goals. With prior goals wrapping up, Cisco went through a year-long process to engage in the next phase of goal setting. Ultimately, the organization set a net-zero goal that covers all of its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions to be achieved by 2040. Cisco also has aggressive near-term targets including a 90% reduction of Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2025 and a 30% reduction focused on its largest categories of Scope 3 emissions by 2030. Cisco chose to align with the SBTi Net-Zero Standard to have third-party verification of its aggressive goals. Before the company began the process in January 2021, internal stakeholders, employees, and customers were pushing for an updated goal that would include net zero. At the time, Cisco wasn't ready to set that net-zero standard. While it was reporting on a couple of categories of Scope 3, the company needed to take a step back to further understand its emissions. Scope 3 challenges At 99% of its portfolio, Scope 3 is by far Cisco's largest source of emissions. The use of sold goods and products is about 75% of those emissions and the company's greatest challenge. Cisco sells many products and gear that plug into its customers' electric grids, releasing a lot of emissions in the end. The following 20% of Scope 3 emissions is from the company's supply chain contracts and indirect procurement. The company will focus on those two categories over the next fifteen years. Although Scope 1 and 2 are only 1% of Cisco's emissions, the company has engaged in a robust strategy to achieve its Scope 1 and 2 goals. Addressing these emissions also helps Cisco's customers and suppliers meet their goals. If they can replicate some of the things Cisco is doing, that will also help Cisco achieve its Scope 3 goal. Renewable electricity is a large part of Cisco's strategy. Clean, zero-emission power will move the company about 75% of the way towards its reduction goal for Scope 1 and 2. Cisco is focusing its efforts on renewable energy. The company has generated a few megawatts of on-site solar and hopes to triple that over the next three years. Cisco's hybrid transformation Cisco is going through a real estate transformation. This hybrid transformation began before COVID but was accelerated after. Currently, the company has 80 million square feet of building space, but the occupancy levels of those spaces are low. Employees want to work wherever and whenever they want. Engineers love to work at home and aren't coming into the office as much as they had. In response, Cisco is modifying workspaces into collaboration centers where teams can work together. As Cisco transforms the workplace, it will see energy savings by reducing its square footage. Some energy savings of a hybrid workplace will increase home energy usage. While that's a challenge the whole industry will need to address, companies can keep in mind that commute emissions are also being reduced. Cisco believes the hybrid transformation is a positive for the world from a climate perspective. Resources & People Mentioned Cisco's net zero commitment Connect with Andy Smith On LinkedIn Andy has over 15 years of experience in the field of sustainability and currently leads Cisco's Global Energy Management and Sustainability team. STB✨ https://t.me/stbstock11 The Keelung Concord Power Plant plans to use natural gas for power generation, but the fourth natural gas receiving station must be reclaimed from the sea to create an ecological impact. Scholars pointed out that Xiehe Power Plant must be transformed, but natural gas power generation is not the only option. If it is changed to biomass fuel power generation, there is no need to build four connections, and the public will accept it more. Ye Zongwei, a professor at the Department of Engineering and Systems Science of Tsinghua University, said at the EIA meeting today that the power shortage in the north is happening. Frankly speaking, if the Xiehe Power Plant successfully transforms into power generation, it will still be unable to meet the electricity demand in the north. To fully meet the electricity demand in the north, in addition to In addition to the Xiehe Power Plant, several units of the Dataan Power Plant must be able to generate electricity online. Ye Zonggang said that the outside world is concerned that the future Xiehe Power Plant must be reclaimed from the sea when it is converted to a gas-fired power plant, which may cause ecological impacts. As for whether the Xiehe Power Plant needs to exist in the future, "I personally think it is necessary", because it is indeed necessary to generate electricity from the Xiehe Power Plant to provide the northern part of the country. Electricity needs, but is natural gas the only option? This is also negotiable. Some people think that it can be considered from the perspective of geothermal power generation. Others suggest that biomass fuels can be used. If renewable energy can be applied to the Concord Power Plant, "it is a good option." Ye Zongkuang said, but if you want to use geothermal power generation, you must also consider the process of geothermal technology. I am afraid it will not be urgent. If you want to transform power generation and avoid the use of natural gas, biomass fuel may be a good choice, because Keelung itself does not consume a lot of electricity. The total annual electricity consumption is about 1.5 billion kWh, and the installed capacity of two units can reach 2.6 million kwh, which far exceeds the electricity demand of Keelung. In the future, in the case of tight power supply, the installation capacity may be maintained, but usually only needs to be issued to meet the needs of Keelung. The required power generation is enough, and the rest will be converted to standby capacity, and then power generation will be generated when the power supply is tight, so there is no need to worry about excessive power generation resulting in increased air pollution. Ye Zongkuang emphasized that it is a fact that there is a serious power shortage in the north. Insufficient power supply is Taipower's biggest dilemma at present, but the pressure on the four connections is not small. In order to maintain the stability of power supply, the Xiehe Power Plant must be transformed, but natural gas is by no means the only option. What is lacking now is a power generation method that can be used as a base load. Considering the stability of energy supply, biomass fuel will be a better choice than natural gas, and it can also avoid the problem of building four connections. Switching to biomass, on the other hand, allows for minimal modifications to existing power plants, allowing them to come online as quickly as possible The All-China Federation of Industry (Federation of Industry) announced today (1st) the "White Paper of the National Federation of Industry". Lin Mingru, vice chairman of the National Federation of Industry and Commerce, said that the government plans to completely abolish nuclear power by 2025 and increase the proportion of renewable energy, but renewable energy is different from Nuclear energy is a "base load" that can stabilize the power supply. He questioned, "Can the future energy policy really go forward?". In this regard, Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Meihua said that the use of "green power + gas turbine + energy storage", that is, a base-load power paired with renewable energy, is one way. Lin Mingru pointed out that in June this year, the government announced an increase in electricity prices, because if Taipower did not adjust prices, it would lose 150 billion yuan, but this adjustment is borne by the industry, which is very unfair, and the price adjustment in June reduced Taipower's loss of 29.6 billion, but Taipower Otherwise, there will be three adjustments, which will cause a lot of public grievances. He also revealed that electricity prices may rise again in September, and if the government's energy policy is not adjusted, "Taiwan will definitely become one of the countries with the highest electricity prices in the world." Lin Mingru said that the government plans to completely abolish nuclear power by 2025 and increase the proportion of renewable energy, but renewable energy is not a stable power source, it is not a "base load" like nuclear power generation, and it cannot guarantee a stable power supply unless it relies on energy storage, "but apart from developing It takes time, and Taiwan is densely populated, how much space is needed to install enough energy storage equipment?”. He questioned, "Can the future energy policy really go on?". In this regard, Wang Meihua attended the joint unveiling ceremony of the "Taipower Corporation Workplace Mutual Aid Education and Insurance Service Center". She responded to the above questions before the meeting. She said that the electricity price was discussed because the electricity price has been raised in Taiwan recently, but this is because Fuel costs around the world have risen sharply, by 3 to 4 times, so regardless of whether countries are using nuclear power or not, the increase in electricity prices is actually higher than that in Taiwan; moreover, in the part of renewable energy, RE100 requires companies to Green electricity must be used. The Ministry of Economic Affairs has recently discussed with many large, medium and small enterprises how to supply green electricity adequately. Therefore, for the development of green electricity, Taiwan must grow as soon as possible, because Taiwan is indeed export-oriented, and my country's industry Also very need such green electricity As for nuclear abolition in 2025, how to find a stable power supply energy that can replace the "base load" of nuclear energy? Wang Meihua said, "Green power + gas generator + energy storage" is to use a base-load power with renewable energy. "We will handle this part with great care." However, some scholars have previously pointed out that in the summer in Taiwan, the safe stock of natural gas is only 7 days, and natural gas also has some inherent conditions, including its transportation and storage are the biggest problems, and Taiwan's energy storage equipment has not yet been developed. Miao Fengqiang, chairman of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that the government now welcomes companies to invest in Taiwan, but carbon emissions continue to grow. Although the government has replaced many coal-fired generators with gas, liquefied natural gas still has to be imported at low temperature, which will cause In foreign countries, a lot of energy is used for cooling and high-pressure transportation. "Although the carbon emission of gas-fired power generation is a little better than that of coal-fired power generation, it still has a lot of carbon emissions." The ruling party currently believes that nuclear power is not necessary. In this episode of Smart Energy Voices, host John Failla introduces the opening keynote speaker from Smart Energy Decisions' recent Renewable Energy Forum, Amy Bond. Amy is the Sustainability Sourcing Manager at T-Mobile. In her talk, she presents actionable tips for navigating obstacles to success in implementing sustainability strategies, including her experience in executing Sprint's first virtual power purchase agreement. You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in... Sustainability career in 2008 [02:45] Who is T-Mobile? [05:55] Overcoming misunderstandings [07:56] Challenges vs. opportunities [12:41] DiCE platform [15:34] The ability to influence [17:58] Be prepared to lead [22:16] Who is T-Mobile? T-Mobile is America's fastest and largest 5g network and the second-largest telecommunications provider. Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, T-Mobile is supported by about 75,000 full and part-time employees with additional offices in Kansas, Texas, Georgia, and Virginia. The company's mission is to be the best at connecting its customers to their world. T-Mobile is the first and only U.S. wireless company to have set a goal to be 100% sourced for electricity from renewables by 2021, which it achieved. When the goal was established in 2018, less than 10% of its energy would have qualified for RE100. In just four years, T Mobile signed 3.5 million megawatt-hours of renewable energy contracts and spent approximately $3 billion yearly with diverse suppliers. Diversity in Clean Energy Supplier diversity is a business imperative for T-Mobile and a KPI within its procurement organization. After a conversation between Amy and her account manager at Duke Energy, Cheryl D. Comer, they pulled together a two-day business roundtable discussion with Cheryl's other corporate accounts. Those discussions drove the formation of the Diversity in Clean Energy (DiCE) coalition, initially supported by Duke Energy, T-Mobile, Kroger, GM, and Microsoft. The coalition has a visionary outcome to advocate and open doors for diverse-owned businesses that operate within the clean energy value chain. This platform will provide a way for minority business enterprises to elevate and market themselves to clean energy buyers. The platform is interactive and is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2022. Overcoming miscommunication Every energy project has obstacles, and T-Mobile's projects were no exception. One of the most significant obstacles is the miscommunication of a project or initiative. When leading a project within an organization, this issue often occurs due to misunderstanding the information the audience already has. When Amy joined the T-Mobile Energy and Sustainability Team, the company had only one community solar program. Amy thought that approach could be optimized to realize significant savings that could then be used towards purchasing renewable energy certificates. While T-Mobile's portfolio contains many different technologies, geographies, and sizes, there was still a gap between the renewable energy certificates these projects generated and what was needed to meet the company's renewable energy goal. That gap left the company purchasing non-project REC, so why not use community solar savings to offset that cost? Initially, Amy received considerable pushback because the company's previous experience was of lengthy negotiations with relatively small results. So she shifted her focus to finding ways to address these concerns and devised a new strategy that would reduce the execution timeline by more than half. What had taken over a year with one supplier for five projects now took only six months for 32 additional agreements. Reducing the impact of misunderstandings requires listening for pre-existing biases to find workarounds for a project. Resources & People Mentioned Simran Sethi Cheryl D. Rob's current role at GM [02:45] Transformations in GM [06:10] Becoming more dynamic as a company [08:21] Culture shifts in GM [09:52] What is BrightDrop? [12:18] GM's RE100 goal [16:07] Technologies on the horizon [20:40] Investments in EVs Energy has always been something of a necessary evil for General Motors, as the company requires electricity, natural gas, water, and sewer to run its facilities successfully. Now, renewables are core to its business, GM has committed to a science-based target to be carbon neutral for operations and products by 2040. The company is investing $35 billion in electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles over the next five years. Those vehicles will represent about 40% of GM's U.S. fleet. Thanks to all the data and analytics that can be run, the timeframe car companies once needed for development has accelerated.GM also announced that it is investing in electric boats and Wabtec for fuel cells. GM is taking the whole transportation business of today and transforming how people drive tomorrow. Working toward electrification Addressing climate change requires a multitude of industries, not just automotive, to focus on electrification. That reality links well with GM's renewable energy goals. GM is setting a bold path forward and leading in the renewable energy space. The company has backed up its commitment to renewables with large investments. Speed is critical for GM to reach its transformation goals and remain a leader in this space. The company has its teams set up to collaborate and make decisions quickly. The focus has been on breaking down barriers by working with leadership and those who build the vehicles. This process helps work be done more efficiently and utilizes the company's available data. Exciting technologies in GM's future With the EV movement, GM is looking at potentially having vehicle-to-grid applications. Combining EVs with fuel cells for locomotives means more technology development regarding battery storage solutions. In the end, these batteries would address some of the intermittency involved with renewables. Wind and solar alone aren't enough to fulfill energy requirements. The addition of battery storage is a great way to respond to demand during peak times. Fuel cells and green hydrogen can then help with long-term storage issues. The energy sector needs to consider these and various other solutions that ultimately drive a decarbonized grid. Powered by Firstory Hosting

Many major global companies are progressing on their own sustainability roadmaps as we proceed into the 'Climate Decade.' But the science is clear that we must do more and quickly to avoid the worst-case consequences of climate change and take advantage of the economic opportunity offered by the transition to a zero-carbon economy. Supply chain transparency and working closely with suppliers to reduce scope three emissions will be a challenge for companies with complex supply chains. Tessa Lee, Senior Corporate Engagement Manager at the Climate Group, joins us to discuss how going public with a net-zero or other supply chain sustainability pledge needn't become a stick for your company to beat itself with, rather, an enabling driver of your sustainability goals. About the Speaker Tessa Lee is the Senior Corporate Engagement Manager in the Climate Group's New York offices. She incubates new workstreams and strategic program areas for the Business Action campaigns, including RE100 and EP100, and provides a suite of member engagement services to corporate members. She is also leading the Climate Group's newly launched Sustainable Supply Chain efforts. Previously, she led monitoring, evaluation and learning at 100 Resilient Cities, pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, and before that, business development and program implementation at the Rocky Mountain Institute and the Carbon War Room, for industries including freight trucking and maritime shipping, global energy access, mining and islanded economies, low-carbon cement, and agriculture and forestry. She has a MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics, and a BA in International Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
It was chaired by Chairman Huang Kunxiong. He declared at the meeting that Huazhi will join the "International Renewable Energy Initiative RE100" as its goal and drive the supply chain to respond. Using 60% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% renewable energy by 2050, in addition to the existing forest carbon sink assets, it will also strengthen the energy autonomy rate in the factory, and use smart technology to promote digital production and sales to reduce product carbon footprint. Huang Kunxiong said that although the entire market has been sluggish in the past three years, especially in the cultural paper industry, China Paper has expanded its capital expenditures in the past three years and has made major changes to its operating structure in the process. First of all, Huazhi introduced a digital tool, namely AI, to re-link logistics and cash flow, improve the entire supply chain, and serve customers on five continents at home and abroad. Secondly, Huazhi strengthened its R&D energy and professional and patented layout. In this process, a series of food safety paper and fully recycled products were launched. Third, Huazhi has re-examined the entire product structure and moved towards a low-carbon, low-energy-consumption full-recycling series. In this process, it has also been affirmed by Japanese and European peers and industries. For the entire year of last year, the COVID-19 pandemic and the spread of the US-China technology war have significantly weakened global economic growth, which affected the sports performance of Huazhi. In 2020, Huazhi's consolidated revenue was 18.617 billion yuan, and the company's net loss attributable to the company after tax was 200 million yuan. Yuan, the net loss per share after tax is 0.18 Yuan. The shareholders' meeting also passed a resolution not to distribute dividends. Huang Kunxiong pointed out that all countries in the world are facing the crisis of climate change, especially the imminent imposition of a carbon tax, and no industry can stay aside. The paper industry uses forest fiber as its material. It is originally a circular economy industry, and it should become a carbon neutral practitioner. Huazhi therefore plans to use digital technology to replace energy and improve efficiency, and replace petrochemicals with biomass materials. It is expected to join as soon as possible. "International Renewable Energy Initiative RE100". Huazhi currently has three plans: 1. Expand investment in renewable energy: The Hualien plant has currently installed Taiwan's only and largest biomass power generation system. After the upgrade is completed at the end of the year, the power generation capacity can be increased from 16000kW to 20000kW, which will increase the energy independence rate. The Hualien plant is also carrying out waste heat recovery projects to recover and reuse heat energy. 2. Smart transformation of digital production and sales: AI and AOI are introduced to establish a smart detection model system, early warning, and quality control. In addition, early detection of equipment abnormalities through smart inspections can improve production losses and strengthen management efficiency, thereby reducing carbon emissions in each production and sales link. 3. Deeply cultivating the field of fiber materials: Huazhi carried out organizational transformation last year and merged into the Guanyin Factory. At the same time, it released the non-plastic food safety paper "Yili CircuWell" series products, determined to become a non-plastic full-cycle material supplier. Based on this, Hualien Plant and Guanyin Plant plan to expand production lines and invest more research and development funds to continue to expand the terminal applications of non-plastic exhibits. Huazhi said that in the future, in addition to making good use of the carbon sink assets of more than 30,000 hectares of cross-strait afforestation, it will also further reduce carbon emissions through digital transformation.
Could cheap, plentiful supplies of renewable energy give Australian manufacturers an edge? Around the world, industrial energy users are embracing renewable energy. Global giants IKEA, Lego, Apple and Coca Cola are amongst hundreds of companies blazing a trail, making the RE100 pledge to power their operations entirely with renewables. Closer to home more Australian manufacturers are seeing the benefits of cheap, dependable power - from food producers, to remote mine operators and even companies that produce chemicals in massive volumes. In the final episode of this season of ReWired, we speak to one of the local businesses leading the way, trading their LPG powered boiler with a Danish-made biomass system. We hear from a Queensland business refining liquid fuels from waste products, and some now familiar voices help to put the bioenergy opportunity into context. The View From 20—GM's Global Sustainability Energy Manager Reflects on Changes at the Automaker Rob Threlkeld, Global Manager of Sustainable Energy, Supply and Reliability for General Motors, began his career at the automaker as manager of the powerhouse and wastewater treatment plant operations at GM's Lordstown, Ohio assembly complex. In the almost 20 years since, his sustainability career has grown alongside the company's sustainability commitment. From an initial focus on energy efficiency, both his role and the company's efforts have expanded to encompass renewable energy procurement and EV integration. General Motors is now on track to meet the electricity needs of its global operations with 100% renewable energy by 2050. Bard MBA student Sahara James spoke with Threlkeld about how GM has responded to changes in the renewables landscape, how company leadership reacted to his team's pitch to join RE100, and why there's still power in numbers. In 2014, IKEA was among the founding members of a global campaign to get the world’s most influential businesses to use 100% renewable power. Known as the RE100, today it’s a consortium of 186 (and counting) companies, including H&M, Nestle, Apple, Google, Facebook, Walmart, Coca Cola, Goldman Sachs, and many more. In total, their electricity demand is approximately 200 terawatts hours - just slightly larger than the electricity demand of Thailand. Today, we talk to Sam Kimmins, head of RE100. Sam has 20 years experience leading sustainability projects in the shipping, aviation, food, construction, and NGO sectors. Support “Waste Not Why Not” on Patreon. Follow us on Twitter @wastenotpod. Bill Weihl has likely done more to drive down GHG emissions from the tech sector than any single person. He was the Green Energy Czar at Google, building the strategy and team that took the company to 100% renewable energy and to carbon neutrality for its primary operations. Bill also headed Facebook’s sustainability efforts and co-founded several tech industry-wide efforts including RE 100.

Saskia Feast is VP of Western Region at Natural Capital Partners. Saskia works with companies in the Western Region of North America to ensure they have access to the right mix of market-based solutions to meet their sustainability objectives. Prior to joining Natural Capital Partners, she helped launch a new class of offset into the voluntary and compliance market at EOS Climate. Saskia has an MBA in sustainable management from the Presidio Graduate School, where she now serves as member of their Board of Directors. She also has a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Liverpool University. Saskia Joins Sustainable Nation to Discuss: Carbon Offsets and Renewable Energy Purchasing carbon offsets to meet sustainability goals Global vs local carbon offset purchasing Sourcing carbon offset projects for Natural Capital Partners Carbon Neutral certification Advice and recommendations for sustainability leaders Saskia's Final Five Responses: What is one piece of advice you would give other sustainability professionals that might help them in their careers? The one piece advice of advice that I would give to other sustainability professionals is to spend the time to talk to your colleagues in other business areas - operations, finance and sales. You really need to be able to tie your actions into helping them being successful. So you need to be making the business case. What are you most excited about right now in the world of sustainability? I am most excited about the push for 100 percent renewable energy globally and what that can mean in some of the countries outside of the western world. I think it's happening. It's going at different rates and different countries, but it's already happening. We're seeing the impacts of climate change already and policy leaders and business leaders in other countries are seeing those as well. So, this is a global move towards action. What is one book you would recommend sustainability professionals read? Well, this is not really directly a sustainability book, Turning to One Another by Margaret J. Weatley. I have found this to be a very helpful book and it's really about starting conversations for the future, sitting down, listening, talking to each other about different topics. She provides some guidelines in there. We're so busy these days and we're all rushing to achieve something. I think it's really important to spend the time talking and listening. What are some of your favorite resources or tools that really help you in your work? Environmental Finance does the State of the Voluntary Carbon Market Report every year. The ICROA website, which is the best practices for the voluntary carbon market is very helpful. REBA, the Renewable Energy Buyer's Alliance is an amazing organization helping drive renewable energy through the world. As is RE100, this initiative that came from We Mean Business and CDP. I think these organizations and websites are really helpful. Where can our listeners go to learn more about you and the work that you are leading at Natural Capital Partners?
