If you say you don't know who Leigh Hart is, I'd probably raise an eye brow.He has been part of the New Zealand comedy and TV landscape for two decades now.He is also the face of Hellers sausages, the creator of Wakachangi beer and, more recently, the insanely good Snackachangi chips THE best Salt n Vinegar chips in the world).BUT whether you know him or not, I think you'll be a fan of Leigh after this. It's a fascinating insight into the mind of a creative genius. We get real deep and talk about his childhood which included a whole year without seeing his parents. His entire TV career and which of his old work he regrets now, and how the famous snackachngi chips came about.Lee also reflects on his marriage breakup, the resilience needed to get through it, and how he has become more emotionally vulnerable with age. This was my favourite part of the conversation. His honestly and vulnerability was profound. Thanks to my friends at Radix Nutrition for sponsoring this episode. I am a daily user of their protein powder. Start every day with a shake for breakfast. Their banana flavor is incredible. They are much more than amazing and delicious protein powder though. Beim 2. JJ Heller writes lullabies with her husband Dave and sings them for children, their parents, and the children inside the parents. Since 2017, the Hellers have released a new song on Spotify the first Friday of every month. One of those songs, "Hand to Hold," grew into a picture book by the same title, released a couple of weeks ago. In this episode, JJ and Dave talk with Jonathan Rogers about bedtime liturgies and the work of giving language to parents' deepest hopes for their children. Air New Zealand's boss is vowing to be directly involved in looking at the airline's books. The national carrier has cut its pre-tax earnings guidance to a range of $340 million to $400 million for the June year, due to slower-than-expected revenue growth. The previously announced guidance was for underlying earnings before tax of $425m to $525m.Air New Zealand's share price took a tumble in the opening minutes of trade this morning. In an internal email to staff, Christopher Luxon said the revised guidance reflects updated revenue forecasts based on recent forward booking trends but that "difficult decisions" lay ahead. Luxon did not specifically mention job cuts. He said markets showing signs of slower growth include domestic leisure travel and softening inbound tourism traffic. Luxon says he's committed to turning things around. Also today: National's proposed tax plan is set to give the average worker an extra $430 a year, the Housing Minister plans to "re-calibrate" the KiwiBuild policy, and Hellers has been fined $40,000 after three children suffered allergic reactions due to mislabelled Sizzlers.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
I’ve known Jonathan & Rachel since college, where they began dating. Rachel and I stayed close after graduation...when they broke-up. Spoiler alert: They eventually got married and just recently had an adorable baby, Noam. But we cover all of the ground in-between and take a closer look at some of the anxieties we experience in dating. The Hellers have such valuable things to say, and offer such relatable, down-to-earth, and well-spoken perspectives.
Historical Universalism is a faith with rich history and traditions. How does the core Universalist commitment that salvation is not just available, but meant for all speak to us in 2017?

Episode #023 with JJ Heller The Power of Music & Storytelling: Stepping out in Faith & Trusting God! Head to KristiClover.com/023 to see all the Show Notes & Awesome Quotes that we collected for you! Years ago the Hellers performed at my church, and when they told the stories behind their songs I just remember being memorized. It made the songs come to life! If you know me, you know one of my passions is worship music. I have been a worship leader since I was 15—that’s when I started singing. I used to be absolutely terrified. It was so hard for me to step out and sing in front of someone. I have such a heart for worship, that I tend to think in terms of music. Music does something to us. It moves us and evokes incredible emotions. Music speaks to us. JJ and Dave’s music touch lives in ways, I know, they never expected. You are going to be blown away how God works in the lives of people who step forward in faith. If you are not familiar with her music, you are going to be addicted! ON A SIMPLY JOYFUL NOTE… One of the funniest things I learned in this episode was JJ's love for finding good food when she travels. Since I have had a busy year of traveling to homeschool conventions, I loved hearing how she took the time to enjoy the food from the area she was in. Now, who doesn't get a little joy from good food? In This Episode… Grab your favorite drink and settle in—you are going to LOVE this episode! ***Check out the SHOW NOTES to see all the great highlights, quotes, and links!*** SONGS Mentioned… Your Hands What Love Really Means Emmanuel Life Creative: Inspiration for Today's Renaissance Mom I Dream of You I Get to be the One The Golden Feather The Golden Feather …Help Support the Simply Joyful Podcast! For over 14 years I’ve worked side-by-side with my husband and creative partner, Dave. This year we’re working together to create something beautiful and then release it into the world on the first Friday of each month. Over the past several years my music made its way onto TV shows, international ads, and radio stations around the world, but more importantly, it’s kept listeners like you company in hospital rooms and war zones, in the middle of plane flights and sleepless nights, during weddings and car rides. I’m thrilled that the music I work so hard to create gets to be the soundtrack to major (and not-so-major) moments in your lives! I never set out to be a career musician, but here I am with a heart full of gratitude and songs yet to be written. What's the difference between a First Edition, a Fine Press Edition and an Artists' Book? Joshua and Phyllis Heller work with me to help define the boundaries. The two of them established Joshua Heller Rare Books, Inc. in Washington DC, in 1985. The company specializes in “contemporary fine printing and beautifully illustrated books, the Private Press Movement, modern fine bindings, and books about books. [Their] much admired catalogues, illustrated in full color, are distributed to a national and international list of clients.” Joshua has lectured widely in the United States and Canada on the art of the book. He helped organize the Art of the Contemporary Book Conference at Ohio State University in 1991, and has: contributed articles on the Private Press Movement to journals such as Fine Print and Imprint; and curated exhibitions of South African botanical artist Elise Bodley, both for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and the Audubon Society; he also proposed the first Washington Artists' Book Fair – now a biennial event; and organized the first ever exhibition of fine modern bindings at the Corcoran Museum of Art in Washington DC in 2003. I met the Hellers at their home in Washington, D.C. recently.
