More about Kyle Mooney Kyle Mooney is known for his nine seasons on Saturday Night Live. He co-created, co-wrote and starred in Saturday Morning All Star Hits! which was released on Netflix in 2021. Most recently Kyle appeared, opposite Jennifer Lawrence in No Hard Feelings. In 2017, he co-wrote and starred in Brigsby Bear, which premiered in competition at Sundance and was released theatrically by Sony Pictures Classics. His other film appearances include Zoolander 2, directed by Ben Stiller, and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. Mooney also starred in the HBO series Hello Ladies and the show's movie adaptation, Hello Ladies: The Movie, opposite Stephen Merchant. Other notable television appearances include NBC's Parks And Recreation and Netflix's Arrested Development. Mooney is a co-founder of the Good Neighbor sketch group and has been a regular writer and performer at Upright Citizens Brigade since 2007. Y2K is Kyle's feature directorial debut. More about Evan Winter Evan Winter is a writer, director and producer based in Los Angeles. Through his production company Arms Race he has created music videos, commercials and short form content for Paramount, Sony, Warner Music Group, and Universal, with work appearing in The New York Times, NPR, MTV, Rolling Stone and more. “I moved out to LA in 1999 with my best friend from high school. Every summer in college, we would write a screenplay. We were waiters during the day and then at night we would write,” says Lee Eisenberg. “Primarily, we would write comedies, or at least what we were attempting to be comedies.” Eventually, the partnership dissolved. Eisenberg's friend got a real job and he eventually landed a PA job on the film, Bedazzled. “I was the office PA and I met an intern named Gene Stupnitsky (No Hard Feelings) who was working for Harold Ramis.” “We started writing together, sold a few ideas to Larry David for Curb Your Enthusiasm, then wrote a pilot about two loser magicians who were roommates and just trying to get ahead. We were the two losers,” he jokes. “We sold it to Fox. It never got made, but that was our writing sample. We got hired on The Office. Funny enough, Harold read it, liked it, and hired us to co-write the movie Year One with him.” “When we were first starting off, I think jokes ruled. I'm very proud of that initial pilot, but it has no pathos. It could be animated to a certain extent. It had a lot of similarities to Flight of the Conchords or Arrested Development and less so, The Office.” These days, Eisenberg is best known for writing The Office, Bad Teacher, Hello Ladies, Good Boys, WeCrashed, Little America, and two new series, Jury Duty and Lessons in Chemistry.  Want more? This week on On Story, we're joined by the comedic genius Stephen Merchant for a conversation on his impressive career in television. Perhaps best known for co-creating (with Ricky Gervais) BBC's The Office, Merchant's work writing and directing the critically acclaimed show attributed to the series earning multiple comedy awards, including three BAFTA awards, two British Comedy awards, two Golden Globe awards, a Primetime Emmy, and a Peabody Award, all before Merchant served as the executive producer on the immensely successful adaptation. Other pillars in Merchant's career include starring, co-creating, co-writing and directing the HBO series Hello Ladies, a sitcom based on Merchant's stand-up show of the same name. Currently, Merchant serves as the co-creator, executive producer, writer, director and star of his newest series, The Outlaws. Co-created with Elgin James, the crime thriller and comedic television show follows seven very different strangers who are sentenced to community service as payback for their various crimes.
