The Framestore Podcast, our learning and talent development focused podcast made by Framestore, for Framestore, is back with another brand-new instalment. After a late-summer break, we're back with a special two-part episode reflecting on this year's 'Launchpad Insights', Framestore's immersive work experience. Participants are divided into teams to tackle a simulated client brief and deliver a pitch by week's end, supported by workshops, masterclasses, panels, studio access, and sneak peeks at live projects for a hands-on, creative hackathon experience. In today's episode, the first of two-parts, we're joined by Catherine Ako from our February cohort, and Vita Franchina from the May group. When Cat joined the programme, she was nearing the end of her school years and faced significant decisions about higher education and pursuing a career in the creative industries. Vita, on the other hand, had just graduated when she joined us in May and was at a pivotal point in deciding how to focus her talents and career direction. We catch up with Vita and Cat since they joined this years Launchpad Insights programme in our London studio this year. With Cat about to embark on a Games Art Degree at Hertfordshire University and Vita currently studying and working in Japan, this conversation offers valuable insights into the significance of entry-level programmes like Launchpad and their influence on the future of the industry. We explore both Vita and Cat's experiences with Launchpad Insights this year, including the software and soft skills they developed, as well as the Framestore creatives they connected with, who remain valuable sources of advice and support. We also get both Cat and Vita's take on the Framestore Dailies questions, including key learnings, lessons learnt and of course, their favourite food!  The Framestore Podcast returns this Thursday with the second instalment of our conversation with our Launchpad Insights alumni, with Anastasia Asaeva and Abi Binge from our May cohort, and Matt Nicolas from Februarys group. Stay tuned! Nuala speaks to Dr Elizabeth Pike from Hertfordshire University who leads the Women in Sport High Performance pathway, and Emily Handyside, Head Coach for Wales Netball, and Coaching Performance Pathway Manager at UK Coaching.Nine months since the current Israel-Gaza war began, we look at pregnancy and giving birth in a war zone. Our guest this week is Dr Eliat Aram, CEO of The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (TIHR).  Dr Eliat Aram has been the CEO of TIHR for over 13 years. The TIHR, a not-for-profit outfit operating in the UK and abroad is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2022 and is a world-leading research, evaluation, consultancy, and professional development organisation. Believing in the abundant potential of human relationships and love for people are the drivers in the way she shapes the direction of the institute, the multitude of its activities as well as her praxis.   TIHR was established in 1947, dedicated to the study of human relations for the bettering of working life. Eliat discusses some of the TIHR developments over the years and shares new directions they are pioneering, particularly in the areas of how aesthetics, art, and place inform our working lives today.     TIHR developed many experiential learning methodologies, drawing on systemic thinking, anthropology, psychoanalysis, and other social sciences, the most well-known are the Group Relations Conferences. Eliat reflects on the importance of this innovative learning methodology and its continued relevance in today's disruptive world. This podcast will be of great interest to all of us indebted to the Tavistock Institute and its positive influence on work, organisations, and society.  Bio Dr Eliat Aram is a Chartered Scientist Psychologist (BPS), a UKCP registered Gestalt Psychotherapist, and has been one of the pioneering members of the CMC (Complexity & Management Centre) of Hertfordshire University. Her theoretical grounding is in complexity theory, organisational studies, Gestalt psychotherapy theory, and systems psychodynamics. She is a keen practitioner of Group Relations, the Tavistock enterprise's core ‘learning through experience' practice. She has directed many Group Relations Conferences internationally including the Tavistock Institute's flagship GRC known as the ‘Leicester' conference. She has been one of the two directors of the TIHR's certified courses Coaching for Leadership and Professional Development (2014-2017) and co-founder of the Supervision for Coaching and Consultancy course, now in its seventh cohort. She has contributed to all TIHR Professional Development activities and program design. Someone told her recently that perhaps work-life balance is found when one finds their love at, and for, work and life. Working with the dynamic of shame as an integral part of any potentially transformative learning process has been her quest and the tenet of her evolving thinking over the decades of her practice. Someone told her recently that perhaps work-life balance is found when one finds their love at, and for, work and life. She unashamedly thinks this might just be so.

Shohfah-El Israel, 40, was convicted by a jury at Reading Crown Court of killing 20-year-old Joy Morgan. Ms Morgan was last seen on 26 December at a church event in Ilford. Her body has never been found. Judge Michael Soole said Israel's "cruel and cowardly" refusal to reveal her whereabouts caused "continuing distress and suffering" to her family. Sentencing Israel to life with a minimum of 17 years, the judge said: "Only you know the circumstances of your terrible deed and why you did it. "You are evidently an intelligent man and have said nothing beyond the lies and the explanations which the jury has rejected." In a victim impact statement read out to the court her mother Carol Morgan described the Hertfordshire University student as her "shining light and my superstar". The court heard Israel had spent time alone with Ms Morgan, of Hatfield, Hertfordshire, in December, breaching church rules which banned women from being with men other than their husbands. He initially told police he had dropped off Ms Morgan at her student accommodation in Hatfield after a celebratory dinner at the church, but later admitted she had spent two nights at his flat in Cricklewood in north-west London. A signal from Ms Morgan's phone, which has never been found, was detected in Israel's car in the Stevenage area on 28 December. He was "most likely looking for somewhere to dispose of the body", prosecutors told the jury. 'Loved by so many' The keys to the student's accommodation were found in the footwell of Israel's car after his arrest in February. Israel, who denied having sex with Ms Morgan, had sent her messages in March 2018 calling her "an amazing princess" and "a treasure that cannot be measured". Both were worshippers at the Israel United in Christ Church in Ilford, though Israel claimed Ms Morgan had been thinking of leaving. RISE IN PARADISE - JOY MORGAN. One of a series of publications by the British Library, 'Crawling Horror - Creeping Tales of the Insect Weird' is edited by Daisy Butcher and Janette Leaf, respectively postgraduate researchers at Hertfordshire University and Birkbeck, University of London.   They have searched the archives for 19th and 20th  century tales about insects - some good, some bad.  Some by men such as HG Wells and Edgar Allen Poe, others introducing previously overlooked women writers.  In this extended version of an interview with Rob Pearman on Local Life, Janette and Daisy explain and illustrate this strange world - with recorded excerpts from three of the fascinating tales.
