Here's Episode 104 of Michigan's Premier Progressive Podcast! 00:00-19:15: MAGA Plans To Destroy Economy & Women's Freedoms The award-winning Pat Johnston highlights Project 2025's goals to destroy unions if Dear Leader Trump gets back into office. He also stresses the importance of the Michigan Supreme Court races, and to vote for Kyra Harris Bolden and Kimberly Thomas. Pat shows how MAGA Michigan Republican attacks on immigrants will hurt our state economy. And he closes the segment showing how Michigan Democrats keep producing results that actually helps the people and the state. 19:16-35:40: The Smearing of Rashida Tlaib This week's elongated "Last Call" has Pat talking about the disgusting smear attacks against Michigan Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib. Tlaib criticized Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel for charging pro-Palestine protesters on the University of Michigan campus. She gave an interview with The Detroit Metro Times' Steve Nealing in which Tlaib continued her criticisms of Nessel. That criticism led to the corporate media pressing a narrative that Tlaib used antisemitic language in her attacks against Nessel. However, Steve Nealing himself took to social media to attack media organizations, like CNN, for accusing Tlaib of antisemitism by claiming she said something... she never said! And even worse, a couple of Michigan Democrats jumped aboard the smear before ever reading the story. Nealing provided a "fact-check" piece to this story as well. 35:41-37:56: Ending Please, subscribe to the podcast, download each episode, and give it a good review if you can! leftoflansing@gmail.com Left of Lansing is now on YouTube as well! leftoflansing.com

Former Michigan House Speaker Jase Bolger and Co-Founder Adrian Hemond of Grassroots Midwest discuss the chances of Renaissance Center rescue bucks appearing in the upcoming state budget. Additionally, they chat about flippable districts in the 2024 state House elections (1:01). CEO Alicia Guevara Warren of the Early Childhood Investment Corporation is concerned about how the preschool spending proposals could negatively impact local childcare centers and their business models (25:08). MIRS sits down with Kimberly Thomas, the University of Michigan Law School professor looking to run for the Michigan Supreme Court as a Democratic nominee (47:33).
Matt Davies - Washington Post Another week, still more insanity... It's O.J. without the white Bronco as the first-ever criminal trial of a former President gets underway with the former publisher of National Enquirer throwing Trump under the bus. “Catch and Kill” was a strategy for keeping Trump out of political trouble. Now it describes his legal predicament: he got caught, and it could kill his candidacy, his company and possibly his freedom. New York law enforcement and corrections officials are reportedly conferring with the Secret Service on what to do if Trump is sent to jail for contempt of court. Arizona joins Michigan, Georgia and Nevada in criminally indicting fake electors … with Trump named an unindicted co-conspirator in both Michigan and Arizona, and facing criminal charges in Georgia. The U.S. Supreme Court hears Trump's argument that, as President, he is above the law - free to kill, stage an insurrection, accept bribes and ignore parking tickets. Two more polls show a tightening presidential race, with one showing Biden in the lead among likely voters Marist Poll 4-22-24 NBC April 2024 Poll Sexual predator Larry Nasser is now a $1-BILLION disaster with a $138-million settlement from the FBI to victims for slow-walking the investigation. This is on top of $500-million being paid out by Michigan State University and $380-million from USA Gymnastics. Another draconian anti-abortion law reaches the U.S. Supreme Court as Democrats focus on women's reproductive freedom as Issue Number One. We recorded this week's podcast on Thursday (April 25): the 10th Anniversary of the day the Flint water supply was switched from Lake Huron to the Flint River.
