We have phones! We've got jokes! And we've got a slideshow to boot! The LG G6, the Huawei P10 and the HTC U Ultra are all in our possession and we've each got our gripes and hopes for each of them. We spend more than an hour with our Jaime Rivera to discuss, then dive into news and two separate conversations on Nokia and H.265 video, so make some popcorn and make sure you're charged and ready for the Pocketnow Weekly Podcast! Watch the video recorded from 3:00pm Eastern on March 9th, or check out the high-quality audio version right here. Pocketnow Weekly 243 Recording Date March 9, 2017 Host Juan Bagnell Jules Wang Jaime Rivera Sponsor This week’s episode of the Pocketnow Weekly Podcast is made possible by: Mara.ai Technology has changed the way we run. Thanks to Smart phones, now even casual runners can map their routes, create pump-up playlists, and track their progress. However, taking advantage of all of these technologies has always meant stopping to look at your phone, which means losing motion and momentum. That's about to change, because now there’s MARA: a hands-free running assistant that uses voice recognition and the microphone in your earbuds to help you optimize your runs. You can tell her what kind of run you'd like to do, ask questions about your speed, pace, or location, or have her play albums and playlists from your music library. MARA can also tell you how you are doing in comparison to your past runs or warn you about changes in weather, like if it's about to rain. She’ll even track your progress by noting all of your hotspots and rough legs, each time you run. You can connect MARA to Amazon Alexa-enabled devices and ask her about lifetime statistics, and records you’ve set while you get ready for your next run. Visit MARA.ai to download your free virtual running assistant today! Gadgets in Hand We have three phones in various stages of our review process right now. We start off with the mid-cycle LG G6 (7:26) and dish with our just-reviewed Huawei P10 (30:42). We take an Android Wear 2.0 break with the Huawei Watch 2 and LG Watch Sport (40:22) before finally wrapping up with the HTC U Ultra (58:32). Jaime referred to a metallic watch band he bought on Amazon, but you should probably look at the wider range of options for the right size to fit your watch. It's come to this. The end of Pebble. Juan's favorite smartwatch has shuffled off its mortal coil. As despondent as he is, the industry must move on, as must the discussion of wearable technology. Where do we go from here? Also, is Apple to reliant on phones for profit? Yes. Yes they are. What might be the solution for generating shareholder value in an era of smartphone saturation? Joshua Vergara, Jonathan Feist, Joe Hindy and David Imel enjoy a long check in before getting into another great episode of the Android Authority Podcast. Starting the show off with a lengthy Halloween talk (Joe dressed as Spyro,) the show dove into the Xiaomi Mi MIX, followed by the LG V20, which Joe has been using, then we talk some battery issues with the Nexus 6P on Nougat. Rounding out the show is a fun rumor mill, running down the fun that could be the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the OnePlus 3T. On a special note, shout out to David Imel and Edgar Cervantes, both are doing well recovering as needed from recent vehicular incidents. Joshua Vergara, Joe Hindy and David Imel give great insight into their personal lives on the latest episode of the Android Authority Podcast. The check in includes a remote hello from Jonathan from Japan, and Josh's experience at the LeEco event in San Francisco. Topics start off with the Google Pixel, talking value and ingress protection, Josh opens up a live Q&A session for the LG V20, a phone that was promoted as the first to sell with Android 7.0 Nougat, but isn't actually out yet. LeEco had a big event, Josh sounds like he enjoyed it for its dramatic approach, and the affordable Le Pro 3. An electric car, big screen TV and a bicycle made it to the show as well. The chat rounds out with a bit of news and some nostalgia over phones of the past. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every single week.
Here's the second part of AnandTech's smartphone podcast, post the Apple event where the iPhone 7 was launched. On the Podcast are Ian, Josh and Matt (apologies for his microphone) discussing a number of other devices and reviews that were launched around the same time as the iPhone. First up is a recap of Josh's review of the Samsung Galaxy Note7, which has since been recalled due to issues with the battery - the team discuss some of the other features of the Note7 as well. Next is a discussion on the launch event of the Honor 8, a step up from previous Honor devices and uses HiSilicon's top smartphone SoC, the Kirin 950, and also comes with dual cameras. Finally the team covers the LG V20 smartphone launch, with the Josh having a good hands on with the dual display technology as well as some time on the new Android 7/N.

Two major announcements from two tech companies. Apple had the courage to remove one of the most standardized cable ports ever created from the new iPhone 7. The Apple Watch 2 won't turn any heads in terms of design, so will people keep buying it? The Air Pods feature some incredible technology, but will people adopt the Trekkie look? Nintendo likes to keep its intellectual and creative assets within its hardware family. But slowly and steadily, it's been letting loose some of its other franchises into the mobile arena. The deal to launch the first such Mario franchise exclusively — for the time being — on iOS is definitely a BFD.
