Hello to you listening in Kyle, Canada! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday & your host, Diane Wyzga. A few years ago Paul King, writing from somewhere in America, wished for a Solidarity Saturday, and I created a podcast episode. Reading it anew my pulse went all fizzy with a plan to re-establish this simple collective action. I'd like to see every Saturday be "Solidarity Saturday." Each Saturday, at 10am in every time zone on earth, we all do a very simple act: Step outside our homes into the open and stand in silence for 10 minutes. Just show ourselves. Stand with neighbors. Come out and be seen together, our presence a protest. All over earth on every Saturday as each time zone hits 10am. Billions of us just stepping outside, showing ourselves, showing evil that we oppose it! Just walk out the door into the open. Not hard. CTA: Right Here. Right Now. Spread the good word like grape jelly on a toddler! Invite your friends and rellies all over the world to step outside and stand together at 10am in your time zone 10 minutes on each Solidarity Saturday. Let me know, from where will you be joining us? You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! You will have wonderful company as we continue to walk our lives together. AND! Hello to you listening in Singapore! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. One night Nasrudin was on his hands and knees under a street lamp. Friends finding him there asked: What are you doing? Nasrudin tells them he's looking for the keys to his house. His friends help him look for the dropped keys. This goes on for some time until one friend asks: Nasrudin, are you sure this is where you dropped them? Oh no, Nasrudin replied, I dropped them across the road, but it was too dark to see; so I came over here where the light is better... Maybe like me this is how it goes for you, too: looking for Life in all the wrong places. But my Life knows me and where I should be headed; in time it nudges me in the right direction back to my true self. Practical Tip: We can do ourselves a world of good to remember that our true selves began as open and curious, whole and wonderful. Instead of searching in the dark for how to become someone else, we could turn our face to the light of day and cherish the never before, never after, one-of-a-kind being we already are. Imagine that! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! Hello to you listening in Karachi, Pakistan! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Maybe like me you've failed more times than you can count. Is it possible to use our failures to encourage a new opportunity, a do-over even? Yes. How do I know? I've learned from the best! Wile E. Coyote is the quintessentially resilient cartoon character who pursues Road Runner with disastrous gadgets purchased from a fictional mail-order company called ACME. Giant magnets, rocket-powered roller skates, earthquake pills, invisible paint, and movable tunnel entrances always backfire. Coyote never ever catches the Road Runner, but does that stop him? No! Do we want Coyote to catch Road Runner? No! We want to see what Coyote will do next. Failure stops creativity when we or someone else says "Give up!" But! When we refuse to give up failure encourages creativity because that's the job of failure. Never underestimate the power of your persistent efforts to begin anew. Life expects do-overs! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! Hello to you listening in Leeds, Yorkshire, UK! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. Once upon a time the wise fool and teacher Nasruddin Hodja was asked: Master, what's the secret to happiness? Nasruddin replied, The secret to happiness is good judgment. Yes, Master, but how do we get good judgment? Nasruddin replied, Good judgment comes from experience. Yes, Master, but how do we get experience? Ah well, replied Nasruddin, that would come from bad judgment. Growing up I had to do it my way! No matter who told me, No! I was determined to find out for myself. I touched fire to see if it was hot. Rode my two-wheeler bike down the steepest hill in town, no hands. No matter how much my intuition said, “When in doubt, don't!” I did. Over time I learned that fire is hot, they do cut off your favorite shirt in the emergency room, and my intuition demands respect. But, what if my bad judgment was the experience I needed to acquire the secret? What secret? Maybe not happiness but surely adventure! Question: What good secrets have your bad judgments taught you? You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Hello to you listening in Port Townsend, Washington! Our zero fare rural transit system (with over half a million passenger trips annually) provides safe, accessible, convenient, and friendly public transportation services that enhance our Island quality of life. Check out the LINK to learn more: Standing at a bus stop waiting for the next distinctively colored bus to arrive I was reminded of something my mom used to say: “Diane, life is like a big red bus and some folks get on fighting for the best seats to see the best views from the best vantage points when all of a sudden the bus ride is over and they saw nothing. Others are content to stand in the aisle and experience it the best they can being grateful for having gotten on the bus in the first place.” Question: What kind of bus passenger might you aspire to be? Hello to you listening in Thune, Switzerland! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Maybe like me you've asked a friend for help in your hour of need. What did you get? “Just tie a knot in the end of your rope and hold on to that.” Sure, with enough rope to tie a knot and enough strength to hold on you might be okay; but what if nothing is all you have? Imagine this: 6 women and 2 young guides high in the frigid and snowy Canadian Rocky Mountains on an Outward Bound mountaineering expedition. Our task was to scale the face of a mountain in pairs by climbing, using strength, handholds, and the safety ropes the guides had secured far above us and out of sight beyond a cliff edge. Climbing up my partner froze dangling between the top and the rocky ground below. She stammered out: “I can't find anything to hold on to.” Time passed. And then the voice of one of our guides called out, “Grab it with both hands!” It worked! She got all the way to the top! And, rappelled back down! I can still see that smile of accomplishment on her astonished face when her boots touched the ground. But how did she do it? My partner found the help she was looking for- inside herself. She discovered a secret: when you can't find anything to hold on to, grab it with both hands! It works! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Hello to you listening in Greeley, Colorado! Coming to you from Whidbey Island Washington, this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. I believe that our November to May Rain Festival is nearly over. Here in the Pacific Northwest we welcome clear skies, sunshine, warm weather, less winter burden, and maybe even dropping our shoulders from the habitual “fight or flight” response to the world that continues spinning on an axis of uncertain madness. Habit. It's like that story about a team of pack animals struggling their way up a mountainside. The last pony in line was wearing a saddle but the horse just ahead of him was burdened with boxes and bags and baskets. The pony said: Good grief, what a heavy load you're carrying! The horse turned it's head and asked: What load? Like that horse we get used to carrying so much we don't even realize it. Practical Tip: Right now, in this moment stop, take a few deeps breaths, gently ease your shoulders away from your ears and smile to them; thank them for what they've been carrying for you and tell them that in the future you will take care to burden them less. Then wait for a moment while they smile back at you. You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! Hello to you listening in Cortland, New York! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. As the story goes the miracle of a human birth is as rare as a blind turtle that swims through the ocean surfacing once every 100 years and happens to raise its head through a single ring of seaweed randomly floating on the water. Equally rare is the opportunity to be living through cataclysmic crises capable of shifting a whole civilization. Internal changes, external pressures or environmental collapse have shifted whole civilizations. Crises are unfolding right before our very lives. Strange to think, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.” [2008 Rahm Emanuel chief of staff to President Barack Obama] That being true, how might we exploit these cataclysmic crises instead of letting them go to waste? We start small. Each one doing just one thing beautifully. Why? Small actions done consistently with curiosity, compassion, and hope have the collective power to change the course of history! Hello to you listening in San Jose, California! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. If you don't know where you're going, how do you know you're on the right track, how close you are, not headed to somewhere else, or even, if you've arrived? Lazily drifting on a river of a summer afternoon is a worthy use of time. But if you want to move along with purpose, focus your energy, and track your progress, the smart and savvy traveler will define her destination, break the journey into manageable phases, and keep heading intentionally, consistently toward the place she wants to be. She also keeps track of where she's been to know how far she's come along the path. As the old ones say, When we understand where we've been and where we're headed, we clarify the potential we have to make our ideas, visions and goals come true. Story Prompt: Think of a moment in time when you felt lost. Where have you come from? Where are you now? Where are you headed? How will you get there? Write that story and share it out loud! Hello to you listening wherever your feet touch the ground! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. Today marks the 6th anniversary of Stories From Women Who Walk that launched (no fooling!) on April 1st 2020. As you may remember the first year I interviewed woman who were walking their lives when a conflict unexpectedly showed up causing them to make choices, accept consequences, change who they were into who they became. The conflict that caused me to pivot from my interviews to my singular 60 Seconds format was COVID; we were no longer commuting in cars listening to longer podcasts. Here we are 6 years, 1,300 episodes, and over 250,000 plays all over the world! Who made it possible? You did! Our global community. I'm still here because you're still there. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Going forward we still have work to do as Ordinary Persons gathering into a growing Army of Ordinary Persons to demand a better way of life for all of us. You can count on me to provide ongoing 60 Seconds episodes to support, encourage, inspire, delight, illuminate, provoke, and energize! You can expect resilience and resistance balanced with hope and stories to help us live each day trusting that our collective decency, goodness, and strength will birth something so much better than what we have right now. I welcome you and each of you on the journey! Write your stories, share them out loud, be well, do good work, and stay in touch! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Hello to you women professionals listening wherever your feet touch the ground! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Since the beginning of time, humans have connected with each other by gathering together to share our stories. Around ancient fires, elders recited genealogies aloud while listeners traced how their own lives wove into the larger tapestry of the tribe. Creation tales, love stories, acts of heroism were passed from voice to heart, generation after generation. Some cultures believe that each time you hear a story, you arrive as a different person seeing the characters and plot line through fresh eyes. That's the quiet magic of telling personal tales: you see how far you've traveled and who you're becoming. Though many of our formal storytelling traditions have faded, they don't have to stay lost. You can reclaim that power in your family, your community, your career. Your stories matter. Your voice carries energy that no written word can fully capture. CTA: This is your invitation to discover the stories you've been living and learn to tell them effectively with the full resonance of who you are. When women share their stories, something powerful happens. Come find out what that is. Email me at info@quartermoonstoryarts.net for a no-obligation Discovery Chat. Thank you for listening. Hello to you listening in Grants Pass, Oregon! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Once upon a time there was a young girl who lived with her wicked stepmother and wicked stepsister. One day the girl went to the well to fetch water. While there an old crone asked her for a drink of the cold water she was drawing up from the well. The girl gave her a drink and as a reward for her kindness the crone said, “Each time you speak pearls, jewels and roses will fall from your lips.” Seeing this magic the wicked stepmother sent the wicked stepsister to the well to claim her own reward. At the well a beautiful princess asks for water; but the wicked stepsister says, “Draw your own water! I'm not your servant.” “Ah,” said the princess, “That is unfortunate. From this day forward scorpions, lizards and toads will fall from your lips when you speak.” Click HERE to learn more Story Prompt: What if we could see our words even before we spoke them? How might we practice kindness and loving speech? Write that story and share it out loud! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Hello to you listening in Alexandria, Virginia! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Growing up in a family of 9 I remember a never-ending stack of dishes, cups, bowls and silverware to wash and dry. There was also the never-ending arguing about whose job it was to wash the dishes. Eventually our parents caved and bought a dishwasher; but the arguing didn't end there. Did you know there is a right way and a wrong way to stack items in a dishwasher? Who knew? Dishes face this way, cups face that way, silverware goes like so. One person's different system was perceived as wrong by someone else. Believe it or not, one of the advantages of living in a big family is the ever-present teaching moment, like this one: "Just because you do things differently, you are not wrong.” Story Prompt: When in your personal or professional life have you done something differently only to be told it was wrong? What happened next? Write that story and share it out loud! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Hello to you listening in Woodburn, Oregon! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. We all want it - don't we? Perfection! We wait to ship our work until it looks right, feels right, sounds right. We hold back on letting go of the paintbrush and calling it art. We want another rewrite of the story before we're willing to share it out loud. We want our work to be perfect. But what did perfect ever do for you? Your being perfect won't help the world get better; but I guarantee you that shipping your imperfect work into the world will. How do I know? I've seen it happen. I'm not saying my imperfect work changes the world; but I‘m not saying it doesn't. When we trust ourselves to ship our imperfect work, we gain an opportunity to feel the magic of taking a leap of faith, welcome the unexpected, and connect with someone who has been waiting for our work. Hello to you listening in Auckland, New Zealand! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. As the oldest of 7 children I learned early on the innate wisdom toddlers bring to the game of life. They know how to say No! And then the world shows them the error of their ways. We grow up saying Yes when we mean No! What changed? We were taught that saying Yes is right, good, proper, helpful even and saying No! is just plain wrong. The problem is the more we say Yes when we mean No we forget how to make choices in our own best interest and well-being. This self-sabotage robs us of our ability to choose wisely, of our personal power, of our legitimate right to say No! with certainty, confidence, and clarity. Of course, there's nothing wrong with saying Yes so long as we agree with ourselves, are not limited in our options, feeling compelled, or thinking we will be rejected or worse. It takes practice to practice saying No! As you get better at it you will come to value saying what you mean and meaning what you say. Practical Tip: When asked to take on work you want to decline, say this, “No. It's good work; but it's not my work.” And thank you for listening! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Hello to you listening in Samish, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Imagine this: a storyteller in a room full of litigators. No! Not alligators - litigators. Trial attorneys who are curious about learning the tools to engage with their own narrative so that they could connect to the stories of their plaintiff clients - not as lawyers but as people. Once they know how to access their own stories they can engage the experiences of the jury, find common ground with the plaintiff's story and, be well on their way to winning the trial.Over 30 years my clients have learned that before you tell someone else's story be very clear about your own. Do the hard work of an archeological dig on your narrative. Once we understand how our narrative shapes and re-shapes our life, our purpose, the relationships we have with others we are well on our way to knowing what we stand for, what we won't stand for, and how we can be of service. Our story can become one of advocacy, leadership, and healing. Our story can shift attitudes, behaviors, even cultures.CURIOUS TO LEARN MORE? Winter was always a time of mystery and majesty. All that snow! All that wild and welcome time to trek, ski, snowshoe, winter camp, and skate frozen ponds. I yearn for the winter activities being enjoyed by my family still Back East; but even more I want what is yet to be. I want Winter's Promise.Winter's Promise“I do an awful lot of thinking and dreaming about things in the past and the future…the timelessness of the rocks and the hills... all the people who have existed there.I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape, the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it,the whole story doesn't show.” –Andrew WyethStory Prompt: What is the promise your life holds for you now? What will you do to realize that promise? What are the stakes? Hello to you listening in Stellenbosch, South Africa!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. It's a tradition to light the candles on a birthday cake and say, Make a wish! Blow out the candles!Where did this tradition begin? Maybe it's true or maybe it isn't, but as the story goes the ancient Greeks in the time of Zeus brought round-shaped cakes adorned with lit candles when they visited the temple of Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and the moon. The Romans called her Diana. As you can imagine, the lit candles made the round cakes glow like the moon. Others believed that the smoke from the candles carried the wishes and prayers heavenward where they would be granted - in time - although not always in the form they were expected. Practical Tip: What Birthday Wishes of yours might have come true but not in the form they were expected? When it's your birthday light the candles, make a wish and expect the unexpected will again come true for you. Birthday wishes are like that! Hello and Happy Birthday to you listening in Daniels, West Virginia!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.I'm often asked: What was the most difficult lesson on my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage? Letting go. Letting go of the way I was. Letting go of my old self. Giving myself over to the walking. You think it's easy? Get up in the dark, pack in the dark, head out in the dark. Walk 15 or 20 miles a day, no matter how hot or cold or wet you feel. No matter how rocky or lonesome or tired. Nothing prepares you for walking Camino but to walk Camino. How do you do it? Here's a tip: surrender. Give yourself over. You are here now. Make the most of it. When you want to stomp around and make furious gestures, make the most of that. Make the most of your joys as well as complaints. Give voice to them all.And then give yourself back to the only job you have: to walk. Every day my Camino lesson shows up like this: “Just walk it off, Diane!”Question: What single-minded purpose of yours guides you along your way? And how are you walking? Hello to you listening in Quezon City, the Philippines!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. In 2017 (years before the current madness) Pope Francis said, “Hitler didn't steal the power, his people voted for him, then he destroyed his people.” That's what con men do. Yes, there are days when We the People feel ashamed - even hopeless - for having been duped. At the same time I'm reminded of a line in William Faulkner's 1936 novel Absalom, Absalom!. “Well, Kernel, they kilt us but they ain't whupped us yit!” The quote captures the spirit of the post-Civil War South, suggesting a resilience despite a devastating military loss. For those who paid attention, with that quote Tim Kaine introduced Hillary Clinton ahead of her concession speech. It still applies. Work still remains. Question: If it's true - and I believe it is - we are responsible for the world in which we find ourselves because we alone can change it, how are We the People showing up, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant? How are you finding your voice in these times and what are you saying when you speak up? We the People are casting off our feelings of helplessness, committing to action, reaching for miracle. Where do you find yourself reaching for miracles? Reach! They ain't whupped us yit! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Some Christians seem to be obsessed with modern-day Israel, while others act like it doesn't matter at all. But what does the Bible actually say about God's chosen people? In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally wraps up our Elephants in the Room series by challenging us to think biblically about Israel.Today's topic is the relationship between Jews and Christians, the Old and New Testaments, and Israel's role in our faith. Some churches focus heavily on Christianity's Jewish roots and modern Israel, while others ignore them. Let's avoid two errors:Replacement theology – the belief that the Church has replaced Israel. Romans 11 makes it clear: God has not rejected Israel.Dual covenant theology – the idea that Jews are saved by the old covenant while Gentiles are saved by Jesus. Romans 3 and 30 affirm there is one way to salvation—faith in Christ, for everyone. The Messy MiddleBiblical balance comes from holding two tensions at once. Think of a see-saw: each truth needs equal weight. We don't dilute truth; we clarify it by holding multiple truths together. We must affirm both:Christians should bless Israel for their history and legacy and embrace Messianic Jews as spiritual family.Christians are not bound to follow Old Testament law, Jewish traditions, or to support modern Israeli politics.Blessing IsraelIsrael gave us the covenants, the law, the promises, and ultimately Christ (Romans 9:4-5, John 4:22). Messianic Jews are part of our spiritual family (Ephesians 2:14).No Obligation to Jewish Law or TraditionsThe law was a guardian until Christ came (Galatians 3:24). We now live by faith. The law convicts sinners—it's not a manual for saints (1 Timothy 1:8-9).Jewish customs are not required. Colossians 2 says these were shadows; Christ is the reality. God meets us where we are. Communion is about heart, not method.Political Support for IsraelYou don't have to support modern-day Israel's politics to be a faithful Christian. Understand the terms:Dispensationalism is a theological view that separates Israel and the Church in God's plan.Zionism is political, advocating for a Jewish homeland.Christian Zionism blends both, often linking Israel to end-times prophecy.Be cautious concerning blind support. Romans 9 and Galatians 6 remind us: not all who are descended from Israel are true Israel. Our allegiance is to God's kingdom above all nations. How Can We Bless Israel?Reject false saviors—Judaism without Jesus cannot save (Acts 4:12).Recognize priority—the gospel came to the Jew first (Romans 1:16).Remember God's promise—Israel's hard hearts are temporary (Romans 11:25-26).Preach Jesus—He is Messiah to Jew and Gentile alike (Acts 2:38).Israel's legacy is part of our faith story—but salvation is in Christ alone. Bless Israel, love the Jewish people, but follow Jesus into the messy middle: gratitude without obligation, love without blind loyalty, truth without compromise. When it comes to Israel, are you willing to follow Jesus into the messy middle?

This week on Musings from the Mount, we tackle terms that might initially make you uncomfortable - obedience and free will. Far from a call to blind submission, we explore these concepts as invitations to dance with life's greater rhythms and align with our deeper nature. Drawing from Section 125 of "Ponder on This," we examine the relationship between personal sovereignty and alignment with something greater. As the text itself begins with "There is no obligation to obey," we discover how the traditional teacher-student dynamic has evolved from one of directed instruction to one of guided opportunity and personal discovery. The conversation explores the surprising truth that the limitation of choice can sometimes expand our creative potential - like musicians in an orchestra agreeing to play in the same key or an artist working within constraints to discover new possibilities. We discuss how this applies to our spiritual practice and everyday choices. Whether you're navigating personal freedom, questioning authority, or seeking to understand your role in life's greater symphony, this episode offers fresh perspectives on what it means to consciously choose alignment rather than submit to external demands. Join us as we explore how freedom and obedience can exist not as opposites, but as complementary aspects of an authentic spiritual path. Meditation Mount and HeartLight Productions are pleased to present Musings from the Mount – a weekly podcast with host Joseph Carenza and guests in conversation exploring a range of topics drawn from the Ageless Wisdom teachings. Today I'm here to share a fantastic conversation with Hannah Kesler. Hannah is an Infinite Banking Concept (IBC) practitioner, and joined us to break down the essentials of the concept and share her insights on financial health. This episode is packed with valuable information that could help you take control of your finances, so let's dive right in! Infinite Banking Concept (IBC) Practitioner Hannah introduces herself as an IBC practitioner. She specializes in a unique financial strategy that leverages whole life insurance policies. These policies offer uninterrupted compound interest and tax-free growth. Though this might sound complicated, Hannah makes it simple for us to understand. She encourages anyone interested in finding a trustworthy practitioner to use the Nelson Nash Institute's practitioner finder. This tool can be found at infinitebanking.org. She mentions that while her focus is exclusively on IBC, she directs those with other insurance needs to the appropriate experts. Importance of Financial Health Hannah emphasizes the significance of taking financial health seriously. She compares it to the time we often spend on entertainment, urging us to allocate the same dedication to our financial well-being. This means making informed decisions and treating our financial goals as top priorities. Compound Interest Albert Einstein once called compound interest the eighth wonder of the world, and Hannah explains why. By keeping your money within a whole life policy, you allow it to grow consistently without interruption. This becomes especially advantageous when taking a policy loan, where the growth continues even as you use the money elsewhere. Policy Loan Details Hannah breaks down policy loans, describing them as collateralizing the death benefit while money continues to grow in the policy. Joe shares a personal regret of withdrawing from his IRA, highlighting the missed opportunity for compound growth – a mistake that the IBC strategy aims to avoid. Starting Point in IBC Regardless of age or financial situation, Hannah encourages everyone to consider implementing IBC. She quotes Rick Warren, emphasizing that how you finish the race of life matters just as much as how you start. Treat Yourself as Your Number One Asset Hannah advises paying yourself first by setting aside 10% of your income into savings before covering other expenses. She suggests using Rocket Money to manage your finances, which Joe also appreciates for its simplicity and effectiveness. Quarterly Check-ins and Resources Hannah's organization, The Money Multiplier, offers an implementation team that provides quarterly check-ins and additional resources to members at no extra cost. Whole Life Insurance Benefits Hannah addresses skepticism around whole life insurance, often fueled by figures like Dave Ramsey and Susie Orman. She points out that commercial banks are the largest purchasers of whole life insurance because of its benefits: Uninterrupted Compound Interest and Tax-Free Growth: Policies offer consistent growth without the taxes that usually come with other investments. Control Over Finances: Policyholders can withdraw money after funding for 30 days, using it for various investments. No Obligation to Repay Loans: Loans from the policy can remain unpaid, with the unpaid amount deducted from the death benefit. Overfunding and Policy Mechanics Starting young worked well for Hannah, who began saving $400 a month at 18. Overfunding the policy through Paid-Up Addition (PUA) riders accelerates cash value growth. For instance, in a $250 premium, 40% covers the base, while 60% goes into PUAs, acting like "booster rockets." Financial Habits and Family Influence Hannah learned from her father to keep money, not just make it. Growing up, her family did not teach her about money, leading to initial poor money management habits. She now stresses the importance of tracking income and expenses and saving at least 10% of her income. Skepticism and the Wealthy's Strategy Joe highlights that following financial practices used by the wealthy, such as whole life insurance for uninterrupted compound interest and asset protection, can be highly beneficial. Control Over Investments Hannah prefers managing her investments personally, without relying on traditional retirement accounts like self-directed IRAs, 401ks, or Roth IRAs. She values the control, freedom, and uninterrupted compound interest offered by IBC. Tax Strategy Hannah discusses her tax strategy, advocating for paying tax on money once, ideally at the lowest rate possible. She uses a system where post-tax money is placed into a policy, allowing for tax-free growth. Her approach involves potential tax deductions if funded by a business and a “1041 trust and tax structure,” similar to strategies used by wealthy individuals like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. Trust Structure and Real Estate Money is moved from policies to a business trust, then to a family trust, and finally to a foundation, with a mandatory 5% donation from the foundation to cover tax liabilities. Real estate investments can also be integrated into this tax structure, providing additional charitable giving benefits and tax reductions. Resources and Contact Information Hannah encourages listeners to seek advice from tax professionals and offers to connect them with her contacts. She recommends the book "Mapping Out the Millionaire Mystery" and suggests reaching out to her via email at hannah@themoneymultiplier.com for further information.
