Livros: - The Grace in Dying, a Message of Hope, Comfort and Spiritual Transformation, Kathleen Dowling Singh.- The Immortal Diamond: The Search for Our True Self, Richard Rohr.- Of Water and the Spirit: Ritual, Magic, and Imagination in the Life of an African Shaman, Malidoma Patrice Some.- Open Mind, Open Heart, Thomas Keating. Música: If We Could Let Go, Kurtis Parks.

Malidoma Patrice Some bridges paths between the ancient tribal world of the West African Dagara culture and modern Western society. He shares how the rites we have in the West don't really help people to cope with death in a positive way, and talks about how some rites are done in the traditional context.Malidoma Some (1956–2021) was initiated in the ancestral traditions of his West African society, and is a medicine man and a diviner in his native culture. He holds three masters degrees and two PhDs from the Sorbonne and Brandeis University and has taught at the University of Michigan. His work has particular relevance for men seeking a redefinition of their identity and role in the community, and he is much in demand as a group leader in the United States and in Europe, and teaches with Robert Bly and Michael Meade in men's conferences. From the Archives: This live interview was recorded on February 23, 1994 on the nationally syndicated radio program, hosted by Laura Lee . We've become so isolated and uncaring that we're afraid of our neighbors. It's time we went back to our indigenous ways where community was everything. This episode is a tribute to the life and work of Malidoma Patrice Some, a spiritual teacher and healer who brought the wisdom traditions and ritual practices of West Africa to the Western world. The name Malidoma can mean “to make friends with the stranger or enemy.” Following that sense, Malidoma served as an ambassador from the tribal realms of Africa to the world of modernity. He had access to traditional practices of wisdom and healing, and also had a rare intelligence that made him able to shape meaningful pathways between ancient ways of knowing and the needs and longings of contemporary cultures. There were many elements of his natural genius; of course, his ability to use ancient ways of connecting to nature and spirit; but also the courage to bring healing rituals to the modern world. His radical intelligence could spark at any moment, quickly becoming a forceful fountain of ideas that could include insights into the human psyche as well as visions that could open the realms of nature and spirit. You could say that the fire element of his genius involved his great intelligence as well as a way of seeing that connected to the ancestral realm. But, his genius was also connected to water as natural element of his soul. At times, he would seem to become water, as he could be fluid and gentle, like a forest stream. And from that stream of inner water would come a great generosity and a deep sense of care. Once he said that "…the quest constantly imposing itself upon me has been more of a search for a home in the hearts of people." In that statement, you can sense of his presence as a gentle spirit, but also as a person on the eternal quest to find a genuine home. In that regard, Malidoma was uniquely attuned to the electricity that comes from the invisible wires strung between the common world and the otherworld of spirit, imagination and the ancestors. I am eternally grateful for the friendship we had and the many ritual collaborations and times spent talking and singing and drumming together. Now, in his terms, as in the ancient understanding of things, I imagine Malidoma as having stepped onto the road that road leads back to the ancestors. On the path that will carry him back to the hidden unity of humanity and the place that is a true home for the spirit and soul of someone who remained connected to and inspired by the otherworld. With prayers and songs I am imagining Malidoma finding the waters of peace and a deep sense of home in the otherworld that his soul and spirit had known all along. Sangha, community, is considered one of three refuges in Buddhism. I explore why this is such an important part of practice and how we can find and create sangha. I share quotes from this sutta, as well as quotes from Resmaa Menakem and Malidoma Patrice Some and others. I end the episode with a reflection about my experiences in a sangha that fell apart.

African Holistic Heath, by Dr. Llaila O. Africka is the first major book which addresses health issues from a comprehensive African-centered viewpoint. It provides a complete guide to herbal remedies along with homepathic disease treatments. What makes African Holistic Health truly unique is the research Dr. Afrika has provided on the physiological and psychological differences between people of African descent versus people of European descent. In addition Dr. Afrika provides a complete history (from the ninth century to the eighteenth century) of the European herb trade and why Europe invaded Africa for healing plants. Finally, he concludes by detailing how European diseases defeated ancient Africa. African Holistic Heath helps you learn about holistic sex laws, self diagnosis, disease treatments, the danger of commercial foods and much more. But the most important lesson learned in this book is the concept of holistic health. African Holistic Health is written from an African-centered viewpoint and appropriately condems European commercialism, people ofEuropean descent as well as people of African descent will find that this book is the key to healing their bodies. All people regardless ofnationality, can use African Holistic Health as a reference guide to healthy living. "For the Dagara, cosmology begins with the story of creation. In the beginning there was no earth as we know it. In its place was a burning planet, a ball of fire combusting at high speed. Therefore, fire is the first element of the Dagara wheel. Fire is present in everything, and everything needs fire. It was not until this moving and burning sphere encountered a huge body of water that things began to change. Water became the second element in the cosmological wheel. The shock resulting from the collision of fire and water not only slowed the combustion process, but also chased fire into the underworld, leaving the surface as a hot steamy place, fertile for the breeding of all kinds of life forms. This surface, hospitable to life, is what is known as earth, which constitutes the third elemental principal of the Dagara cosmological wheel. The various hard components of the earth provide structure and connection and are known as mineral or stone, the fourth element in the cosmological.wheel. Meanwhile, a steam of great density formed the atmosphere around the earth. (These images translate imperfectly into Western terms; think of them as poetic rather than scientific descriptions.) As the steam expanded, its pressure began to subside. The reduction of atmospheric pressure was conducive to the birth of life, and thus the fifth element, vegetative nature, came into being." "We find in nature everything we need to be whole. But the gap between us and nature is growing bigger instead of smaller---we humans should not alter anything in nature because we run the risk of losing life-giving information hidden in it. As a consequence, illness is a distancing from the model of health offered by nature and any stuckness in our lives is due to a piece of nature having falling off from the inner structure of their existence. No one can survive without nature! Most of us have been visually conditioned to see the world within a limited spectrum, and for each person, this is the spectrum into which every object must fit. The wider the visual horizon of a person, the closer he or she is to seeing things as they are. After all, reality is malleable, manufacturable, and therefore transferable. In other words, we all see the same tree because we are bound by an agreement. But those who can break the agreement are able to see more closely into the core of being. For example indigenous "magicians" are people who are not bound by consensus perception, hence their ability to see through all living things." We will discuss the last principle's of Kwanzaa , highlighting the last principle which is Imani (Faith). We will also discuss the insight of Dr. Malidoma Patrice Some regarding Ritual. The Dagara process of preparing for ritual As Malidoma states that the teaching of indigenous cultures may help us go beyond modernity. "There was a time when all people were indigenous people on some part of the Earth. But in the last half of the millennium, the migration of people from region to region and from countryside to city broke many of the ties we used to have to one another and to the land and water that supported us. Those who didn't make the move, the indigenous people of the world, can help us remember what it's like to be connected to the environment and to each other in a community. This is valuable not because we would necessarily want to return to the way we used to live, but becuase facets of that connectedness can contribute greatly as we create a sustainalbe way of life."
