En juin 1931, Robert Barlow envoie sa première lettre à Howard Phillips Lovecraft, le questionnant sur l'authenticité du Necronomicon et sur son métier d'auteur. Lovecraft, comme à son habitude, répondra au bout de quelques jours. Ce premier échange sera le début d'une longue correspondance et d'une amitié particulière qui influencera le cours de la vie des deux hommes. Qui était exactement Robert Hayward Barlow et quelle était cette amitié particulière qui le liait à H.P Lovecraft ? Comment ce jeune auteur, qui deviendra plus tard un universitaire reconnu, a-t-il joué un rôle déterminant dans la transmission et la préservation de l'œuvre du maître de Providence ? Christophe Thill sera notre invité et notre guide pour ce voyage dans le temps. Il est co-directeur des éditions Malpertuis et spécialiste de H.P. Lovecraft. Il est aussi l'auteur du RPG Book Le Pacte D'Innsmouth que va bientôt proposer le studio Elder Craft. Alex Nikolavitch est scénariste, traducteur de bande dessinée. Il est aussi essayiste et conférencier, spécialisé dans la bande dessinée américaine. Il a récemment sorti le Dossier Arkham aux éditions Leha. Il a également publié la biographie en bande- dessinée de HPL Celui qui écrivait dans les ténèbres aux éditions 21G. Enfin Christophe Thill nous rejoindra en cours d'émission. Il est le co-directeur des éditions Malpertuis. Il s'intéresse particulièrement au fantastique classique et à l'œuvre de Lovecraft. Il est aussi spécialiste de Robert Chambers dont il a traduit le recueil de nouvelles Le Roi en Jaune.

Bij de Gentse uitgeverij Poespa Producties van grafisch vormgever en illustrator Johnny Bekaert verschijnt in maart 2019 een magistraal werk van kunsthistoricus Geert Vandamme, die zich gespecialiseerd heeft in de geschiedenis van Gent. Het gaat dan meer bepaald om Soms overtreft de werkelijkheid de fantasie, een tweedelige biografie van de Gentse schrijver Raymond De Kremer, in totaal 650 pagina’s met 259 foto’s en illustraties. ‘Raymond De Kremer,’ zegt u, ‘nooit van gehoord!’ – Dat kan best zijn, hij schreef dan ook in het Frans onder het pseudoniem Jean Ray, talloze fantastische, vaak magisch-realistische romans en griezelverhalen voor volwassenen. In het Nederlands is hij wellicht beter bekend als John Flanders, de auteur van voornamelijk griezelromans – en verhalen voor jongeren, legendarisch geworden door zijn talloze Vlaamse Filmpjes. In Frankrijk wordt zijn werk nog met de regelmaat van een klok herdrukt, bij ons is het op dat vlak een stuk stiller, al heeft hij ook hier een trouwe fanclub. Zijn meesterwerk uit 1943, de roman Malpertuis, werd in de vroege jaren 70 vertaald door Hubert Lampo en verfilmd door Harry Kümel, met Orson Welles in de rol van de vreeswekkende magiër Quinten Moretus Cassave. Patrick Bernauw interviewde de auteur op een locatie die een duidelijke link heeft met Malpertuis.
