Studio B - Lobpreisung und Verriss (Ein Literaturmagazin)

Liebe Leserinnen und Leser, vor knapp 2 Jahren wurde an dieser Stelle mit großer Begeisterung Rebecca F. Kuangs Werk "Babel. Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translator's Revolution" vorgestellt.R. This is a public episode. Description (SoundCloud — X2M.229 Katalysis) If X2M.228 Katabasis exposed the rage of the nations, then X2M.229 Katalysis marks the unraveling of their dominion. The cry of Psalm 2 is clear: *“Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us”*¹. Yet in attempting to cast off the cords of Christ's enthronement, nations dissolve their own unity. Katalysis means “dissolution” or “breaking down.” Dominion that once seemed immovable begins to melt. Systems fracture from within; cohesion collapses. Just as molten metal loses its form under heat, so the structures of kosmokratorial rule disintegrate under the scepter of Zion's enthroned King². Runtime logic: This is the second stress-test. Having been exposed in Katabasis, illegitimate thrones now experience internal destabilization. The enthroned vessel does not need to strike every blow directly; the runtime of enthronement itself erodes the integrity of false dominion³. Scriptural logic: Nations that reject the Son discover that their strength was parasitic, borrowed from kosmokrators now cast down. Dominion unravels not because of external invasion but because its foundations are hollow⁴. Katalysis is therefore both judgment and mercy. Judgment, because illegitimate dominion collapses. Mercy, because what dissolves makes room for the reign of the Son. As Paul wrote, “the rulers and authorities were disarmed and made a public spectacle” (Col. 2:15)⁵. Glorification | The Final Frontier Going boldly where the last man has gone before! Decrease time over target: PayPal or Venmo @clastronaut Cash App $clastronaut ⸻ Footnotes ¹ Psalm 2:3. ² Psalm 2:1–4; Revelation 12:8 — cosmic enthronement destabilizes dominion. ³ CR17 runtime logic: systems destabilize internally under pressure. ⁴ Cf. Daniel 2:34–35 — kingdoms dissolve when struck by the stone cut without hands. ⁵ Colossians 2:15 — Christ disarms and dissolves the powers.

Mari Otsu joins Stephen Blackwood for a deeply personal conversation about her journey through the wounds of materialism, ideology, and spiritual forgetting, and her return to the soul through the beauty of the humanities. Reflecting on her years at NYU and the Grand Central Atelier, Mari speaks of a longing that nothing in the modern, politicized worldview could satisfy, and how she found healing in therapy, classical painting, and, most profoundly, the living philosophical community of Ralston College. Engaging with the works of Plotinus, Boethius, and Dante, she discovered a path of purification and ascent that restored her sense of meaning and inspired her to share these treasures with others. While at Devcon 2024 I spoke to Beth McCarthy, program director of Funding the Commons which I also spoke at in Bangkok about our progress on building on-chain post-capitalism with Breadchain Cooperative. Beth is also my co-author for the Katabasis crypto science fiction series and we spoke together at Devcon about the meme power of capital and why it's bad.We discussed Beth's suggestions for building community when things are so online, the importance of in-person events, and her experience of being up close and personal with many of the previous phases of crypto. If you liked the podcast be sure to give it a review on your preferred podcast platform. The title is Blockchain Radicals: How Capitalism Ruined Crypto and How to Fix It and is being published through Repeater Books, the publishing house started by Mark Fisher who's work influenced me a lot in my thinking. The book is officially published and you use this linktree to find where you can purchase the book based on your region / country.

"An act of translation is always an act of betrayal." This idea, and the questions it inspires, are central to author Rebecca or RF Kuang's 2022 novel, Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators' Revolution. As the title promises, the book also explores the nature of revolution and the "necessity of violence," in addition to those complex questions surrounding the art of translation. This hour, we revisit our conversation with the author, which was focused on the award-winning book, during an event organized by local bookseller RJ Julia. On the importance of student revolutions, Kuang reflects, "The student's weakness is precisely his allure. The fact that the student is so naïve and doesn't have the jadedness of somebody who's been through more; the fact that students are dreamers, that they are romantic idealists; that kind of hope, that kind of ability to imagine an alternate future is beautiful and it matters and I hope we keep seeing that." GUESTS: RF or Rebecca Kuang: Award-winning author of the Poppy War trilogy, Babel: An Arcane History, Yellowface, and Katabasis (forthcoming). She has an MPhil in Chinese Studies from Cambridge and an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies from Oxford; she is now pursuing a PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale.
