Mais, à l'heure des likes et des followers sur les réseaux sociaux, cette quête de validation peut parfois devenir extrême, alimenter l'envie et la rivalité, et générer de la souffrance.   Pourtant, nos ambitions évoluent. Alors que la réussite a longtemps été associée à une quête du pouvoir, mesurée au nombre d'échelons gravis et à la position atteinte dans l'entreprise, les carrières sont aujourd'hui moins linéaires et la recherche de sens prend une place croissante dans les choix professionnels. Selon une étude du cabinet de recrutement Robert Walters menée en 2024, 52 % des membres de la « gen Z » – la génération Z, née entre la fin des années 1990 et le début des années 2010 – refuserait même de devenir manager, un rôle jugé trop énergivore et dépourvu de sens. Ces nouvelles aspirations se heurtent toutefois aux réalités économiques, dans un contexte marqué par l'inflation, les difficultés d'accès au logement, la précarité de l'emploi et la peur du déclassement.   Alors, pourquoi avons-nous autant besoin d'être reconnus ? Comment distinguer une ambition saine d'une dépendance au regard des autres ? Les réseaux sociaux nourrissent-ils une nouvelle forme de compétition permanente ?
