The Paul Brown Podcast - The First International Cleveland Browns Podcast
Paul gets the lads back on the mics to go over the Browns most recent draft classes. From 2016 and the Ricardo Louis years to the 2022 class led by Martin Emerson! Did we notice any trends? How did they grade out? Come catch up with all the boys and get ready for the 2023 NFL Draft!
Cleveland Browns news and rumors today are buzzing after Greg Newsome's Tweet in which he closed the door on planning in the slot, nickel position again in 2023 after a Browns fan asked him on Twitter. Could we see a Greg Newsome trade as a result? The Browns roster features a lot of depth at cornerback with Denzel Ward and Martin Emerson. So, Browns trade rumors are back as a result this Thursday. Browns NFL Draft rumors are starting to pick up with the 2023 NFL Draft less than 50 days away. Might Browns GM Andrew Berry look to trade one of his 2nd round picks away and acquire a proven player like DeForest Buckner or Jerry Jeudy? Locked On Browns Podcast hosts Garrett Bush and Jeff Lloyd Peterson discuss the viability of trading the former 1st round pick to Denver for Jerry Jeudy. After trading for Seattle Seahawks all-time-great quarterback Russell Wilson in the offseason, the Denver Broncos were poised for a big year. After 18 weeks the Broncos finished with a 5-12 record and fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett after his first year in Denver. Wilson had the worst season of his career, finishing with 16 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. Denver finished last in the NFL in points per game (16.9), but finished in the top half in points allowed per game (21.1). Amid all the offensive blunders, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy had the best season of his young three-year career. The 2020 15th overall pick finished the season with 67 receptions for 972 yards and six touchdowns (all career highs). Jeudy was arguably the best Crimson Tide product in weeks 14 and 18. There are several teams that could use a new wide receiver, but one that sticks out is the Baltimore Ravens.Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has rejected some of the highest offers in league history from Baltimore, but an up-and-coming receiver might be all he needs to accept one.Baltimore's receiving talent has been subpar (besides All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews) since Jackson took over under center. Jeudy's numbers this season have been better than nearly every wide receiver in Baltimore the past few years. Jackson is known to be one of, if not the best scramblers of all time. The addition of a route-running technician like Jeudy could make him an even more elite passer and give him his second NFL MVP trophy. Learn more about your ad choices. 3 Reasons the Cleveland Browns will beat Miami Dolphins in Week 10The Cleveland Browns need a win in Week 10 and here are four reasons they will get that against the Miami Dolphins. A win in Week 8 changed quite a bit for the Cleveland Browns. They're still just 3-5 on the season but they're 2-1 in the AFC North and have just three more games until Deshaun Watson is allowed to return to the field. Those games will be tough as they face the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers but that doesn't mean Cleveland can't reel off a couple of wins in that stretch. In fact, we look at four reasons to believe they'll start this stretch off with a win in Week 10 over Miami. While he knows his job is temporary, Brissett has been a solid leader. He's played as well as can be expected and has kept the offense focused. Now heading to Miami, where he was a starter in 2021, Brissett says he doesn't care about going home — he was also born and raised in Florida — but that winning is the only thing that matters. Of course, much more goes into a win than simple words but the Browns are starting to sound like a confident team. Chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta said as much recently when he stated that good things are on the way in the second half of the season for Cleveland. It's been nice to see a little swagger coming back as this team was struggling to find much hope during their four-game losing streak but suddenly sees a reason to believe.Miami is dangerous through the air. That's not surprising at all given the fact that they employ both Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill. Through their first nine games, they've already gained 2,642 yards through the air with 18 touchdowns. That's good enough for second in the NFL in yards, which is beyond impressive when you realize they're 15th in passing attempts. This means they're eating up chunks of yardage with Hill recording 1,104 yards on 76 receptions (an average of 14.5 per catch) and Waddle adding 812 yards on 47 catches (17.3 per grab). That's not going to be easy to deal with but the good news for Cleveland is that their secondary is finally healthy — and most importantly, Denzel Ward will be back. The former No. 4 overall pick from 2018 hasn't had his best campaign but he's still the fastest member of the Cleveland secondary. Ward ran a blistering 4.32 at the Scouting Combine and might be one of the few players in the league that can run with Miami's explosive duo. While Ward was out due to a concussion, it afforded more snaps for rookie Martin Emerson and he was able to showcase just how good he can be. Throw in the fact that Greg Newsome is able to stick with almost any receiver and the Browns have the talent to keep the Dolphins from running away with this one — as long as they stay focused and disciplined, which has been the question this year. This has easily been the best season for Nick Chubb in his five-year career. The former second-round pick out of Georgia already has 841 yards as he's on pace to break his previous best of 1,494 with ease. He's also set to shatter his career-high 12 touchdowns with 10 in just the first eight games. Chubb has three games with multiple touchdowns already and is second in the NFL in yards on the ground — and not that far behind the leader, Derrick Henry. As for the Dolphins, their defense hasn't been great at stopping the run. After nine games, they've given up 1,057 yards and 11 touchdowns which means there will be a lot of running room for Chubb.
