Everyone talks about meditation and its benefits. Lots of us have trouble doing meditation. Leah talks with The Path founder Dina Kaplan about how to be a student for life and utilize meditation as one of the training tools. This is a candid episode from two successful women who have also struggled with anxiety, self-confidence, performance and authenticity. Listen in on how to follow your gut to course correct and live your authenticity, how to notice the symptoms of emotional imbalance, and how the power of meditation can transform your mind and your life.Learn the difference between meditation and religion, and how meditation is open and available to all. Discover if diving deeper, getting your toes wet or actually becoming a meditation teacher yourself is the right next step for you. Dina guides us in a short gratitude meditation at the end of the episode. Enjoy! Dina is founder/CEO and a certified meditation teacher who teaches meditation and guides retreats around the world. Before The Path, Dina was co-founder/COO of Blip, an online video start-up that was a real thing but led Dina to panic attacks and an eventual trip around the world to learn to be herself again. Prior to the tech world, Dina was a television reporter who won an Emmy which is now in storage. Dina loves languages (speak to her in Italian), hosting dinner parties, and the tiny Sicilian island of Panarea. Find more about her and her company here. Leah is an author of Overcoming Toxic Emotions, Spiritual Journal for Women and The Fearless Path, as well as an intuitive healer focused on emotional health and spiritual growth, motivational speaker and retreat leader. Yes, today, I'd like to be honest about my many unsuccessful attempts to learn how to meditate. I always wished to do it but I never succeeded. Either, I couldn't sit still or I thought it was too much hard work for me. I had already enough challenges in my life, with my two boys, my divorce, finding a new job after my layoff, and earning money to survive with my children. How many times did you try and how many times did you give up? I couldn't count mine. But I only started my daily meditation practice at 56, and it belongs to the few non-negotiable things I do every day and I never skip. Listen to how I managed to sit still and keep my thoughts under control. Have you ever gotten a strong "No" and been a little...put off by it? I've been getting very clear messages lately that now is not the time to forge ahead, blaze a new path, or open a new door (or try to force it open). A closed door can actually be a really clear message that it's a good time to reassess, reevaluate, pause, and listen. The energy of this month is so big with a second eclipse, and the solstice, and a slew of planets in retrograde—Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto all in retrograde currently and Jupiter and Neptune joining them later in the month. Even as we begin to enter a post-pandemic world and the summertime urge to reengage with social circles and travel, we are still being called to look within, listen to our inner wisdom, and cultivate silence. But that requires space. Are you creating space in your daily life to contemplate what's happened emotionally and energetically over this past 15 or more months? In order to move forward into this new world with clear, intentional action, it is critical to take inventory and acknowledge and allow the feelings, memories, and desires that arise. Cultivate space for yourself to listen to your Soul. You won't regret it! Trust me, even if you think you know all about mediation, you won't want to miss this (especially if you tend to live from the practical/logical side of your mind). MORE OF BRITTANY
