Hello to you listening in Freeland, Washington!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. For over a dozen years I helped trial attorneys create and deliver winning trial stories and strategies to pre-trial focus groups, judges, and juries. My clients learned that simply recounting the facts misses the emotional story. My expertise is showing my clients how to marry content with context to create a memorable story that connects, engages, and influences the listener to action. What's a memorable story? As I've taught for decades, it's “a heartfelt story artfully told." It invites your listeners to connect their emotions, memories, and experiences in a profoundly human way to the story being told. Connected listeners are engaged listeners. Engaged listeners can recall and take action on your message.Your Origin Story is one of the most consequential messages you will tell to connect and engage with your audience. It's told in your words, your voice, your power. We build it with the Spirit of who you are - your Story Spirit.Along the way you will gain confidence, clarity and focus as you learn to decisively use the tools common to every human connection experience. Whether you create your Origin Story as a marketing, branding, About Page, keynoting, idea-pitching, or public speaking tool, I can help you find the words you didn't know you had to give voice to your Origin Story - the one that's been waiting to be told - the one that reveals how you got from There to Here. When you're talking with the writer and performer John Hodgman, it doesn't seem like any page, or chapter or volume, could contain his restlessly inventive mind. It’s impossible to find a subject that Hodgman isn't curious about, eloquent about, or really funny about – sometimes all within the same sentence. And a conversation with him is like being part of a piece of improv comedy in which you had better be on your toes if you want to keep up. While you might know John Hodgman best from his appearances on The Daily Show or elsewhere on television and film, the former literary agent has his roots in books: he’s the author of three bestselling works of absolutely, hilariously not-true anti-facts, including The Areas of My Expertise, More Information than You Require, and That Is All. He joins Bill Tipper on this episode to talk about his quite different new book, Vacationland: True Stories from Painful Beaches. He spoke about what it’s like setting aside the ”expert” character he's made so famous, to speak more directly — though with characteristic wit — about growing up, growing older and (could it be?) growing wiser.
Alright, so this is more Stuff Dean Likes, but still! He's a legend.
