"A good year for the roses", cantaba Elvis Costello y sus atracciones. Why does my heart feel so bad?
On lui doit des hits comme « Porcelain », « Natural Blues » ou encore « In This World ».

Opera singer Peter Brathwaite shares his passion for five very different singers whose voices, artistry and lives inspire and move him, and whose stories he needs to tell. If you've listened to much pop music this century, you've almost certainly heard the voice of Alabama folk singer Vera Hall - though you might not know it. Brilliantly sampled by Moby in his single Natural Blues, Hall's extraordinary voice was recorded several times by renowned American ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax in the 1930s. To conclude his series, Peter explores what it is that makes this pretty much unknown woman's voice so particularly powerful, and reflects on why the singing human voice has the capacity to transcend time, space and situation and speak to us so deeply.
It is a moment engrained in the folklore of Ireland written into the history of Slane gigs forever! The irony is that nobody actually recorded it happening! If it happened today we would be inundated with videos but this was 2001. Moby was the support for u2 and Ireland were playing Holland in a World Cup qualifier in Dublin. The game was so big at the time it was shown live at the request of the crowd! Moby was a HUGE Father Ted fan and decided that Ardal O'Hanlon should sing My Lovely Horse to over 80,000 mad Slane fans! I just had this idea. Wouldn't it be amazing if Dougal (Ardal) could play My Lovely Horse with me to the crowd. Ardal said yes but he aloo said he was watching the game. So, I did one of the most indulgent rock stars things I've ever done and sent a helicopter to pick him up! Moby tell Fergal D'Arcy the inside story on that Slane moment. He also reveal a very cool secret David Bowie told him once about his classic song 'Heroes' - The two were New York neighbours for years and became very good friends. David once sat down with him and revealed the origins of one of music's greatest anthems. Brand new album Reprise is out May 28 and features many of his biggest songs but remade with an Orchestra! It also features a stunning remake of his smash hit Natural Blues featuring the unmatchable vocals of Gregory Porter and Amythyst Kiah that is out now: There's also a new documentary called Mobydoc:

I’m just looking for signs that they didn’t take a year with nine returning starters and a five-star coming in at running back and light it on fire. This week’s podcast is, as always, sponsored by the law offices of E. Jason Blankenship, whose website is now fully operational. Today’s mailbag isn’t quite as wide-ranging as last week’s—that would be difficult—but still hits on a number of mostly football-related topics, including: What would make you content with the season? Is Don Brown a “genius or a has-been” or somewhere in between? How does the offense move forward, literally and figuratively? Which player from the last 30 years would you add to the team? Who looked the best in their uniform? Favorite version of the NCAA video game The increasingly generic stadium experience Who’s the most important basketball recruiting target? Getting your eye off the ball Why I eat like a trash panda on game days Consume! Also rate and review, if you’re feeling generous. MUSIC: “Natural Blues” — Natural Child

In the 12th installment of this mix series, the sound is a bit on the darker bass heavy side of the spectrum. Solcast 12 features some techno inspired breaks and house beats that are meant to set some warehouse style vibes. Some of the artists heard in this mix are Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Ricardo Baez, Enrico Sangiuliano, and many more including a special Coyu remix of the Moby classic "Natural Blues". I hope you feel the vibe on this one.
