They Walk Among Us - UK True Crime

In the early hours of July 14th, a resident of Highfield Road in Neston heard banging on his front door. On his doorstep, he saw a middle-aged woman in a state of distress. The homeowner didn't know her well, but he knew she lived further down the street. Through heaving sobs, his neighbour said: "I've hurt him. I've hurt him really bad. I think I've killed him…"*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED *** This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, editing, additional writing, and production direction by Benjamin Fitton.Listen to our companion podcast ‘They Walk Among America' here: https://play.acast.com/s/they-walk-among-americaBecome a ‘Patreon Producer' and get exclusive access to Season 1, early ad-free access to episodes, and your name in the podcast credits. What's The Future of Work Under Labour?

Oven-Ready HR

There are so many big employment and workplace stories at the moment.  From chaos at UK airports due to staff shortages and the raging work from home debate to planned strikes on the rail network and of course the fallout from 'partygate' at 10 Downing St! Added to that this week's narrowly  won vote of no confidence in the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson all adds to a sense of upheaval and uncertainty - hardly a welcome backdrop for any organisation. The political uncertainty is a timely prompt to start looking at what the world of work would be like under a Labour administration.  Justin Madders MP is Labour's Shadow Minister for Employment Rights and Protections. Justin is a former solicitor who specialised in employment law before being elected as the member of parliament for Ellesmere Port and Neston in 2015.  I start by asking the Shadow Minister his view on the impending National Rail strike.Who's to blame for the chaos at UK airports? [02:30]Justin Madders believes it's very convenient for the UK government to blame airlines and other travel providers for the chaos at UK airports. He believes government support was lifted far too quickly before the sector was back on its feet.Is Boris Johnson's unpopularity a gift to Labour? [04:10]Justin Madders accepts that whilst Boris Johnson's unpopularity is a gift for any opposition party, the national interest will be affected by paralysis and in-fighting amongst Conservative members of parliament, therefore the sooner the Prime Minister is removed the better. What will the Downing St culture be like under Sir Keir Starmer? [05:39]'Partygate' has highlighted the dysfunctional culture at the heart of government.  I ask Justin Madders what sort of workplace culture Sir Keir Starmer would instigate if he were the Prime Minister? What are the key elements of Labour's Future of Work plan? [06:39]Justin Madders explains the key pillars than underpin Labour's future of work plan.  The plan is designed end the precarious nature of employment that many workers face and provide well-paid jobs and a level-playing field for all employers. What's happened to Lord Hendy's Status of Workers bill? [08:35]Justin Madders explains why he isn't confident that the Government will support Lord Hendy's bill.Do we need more collective bargaining in the UK? [11.57]Yes is the simple answer and in Labour's plan there is a desire to move towards more sectorial collective bargaining / fair pay agreements. What's happening with the P&O dismissals? [15:40]Justin Madders is keen that the Government maintains pressure on P&O in light of their sacking of hundreds of workers without consultation and notice. The working from home debate [20:13]I ask Justin Madders for his view on the working from home debate.  Is WFH just a blip?Resourceshttps://www.linkedin.com/in/podcasthost/https://ovenreadyhr.comhttps://labour.org.uk/people/shadow-cabinet/https://www.justinmadders.com

Mother kills husband with boiling water after hearing claims he sexually abused her childrenA British mother has been sentenced to life in prison for killing her husband with a boiling mixture of water and sugar after hearing claims that he'd sexually abused her two children. The Liverpool Echo reports 59-year-old Corinna Smith, of Neston, will serve a minimum of 12 years before she's eligible for parole. Prosecutors said she became enraged after her daughter accused her husband, 80-year-old Michael Baines, of sexually abusing her and her brother “for many years when they were children.”undefinedSmith was accused of filling a bucket with boiling water, mixing in three bags of sugar and pouring it over him while he was in bed. Prosecutors said the sugar made the liquid “more viscous, thicker and stickier, so that it stays on the skin and causes greater damage.” Baines reportedly suffered serious burns over 36% of his body. He died a month later on August 18, 2020.Smith argued she should not be found guilty of murder and should have been charged with manslaughter due to a loss of control. A jury found her guilty of murder last month.“We cannot and do not say whether these allegations made about Michael Baines are true or not…but that is not the issue for you in this case because the prosecution certainly accept that these allegations were made, and that Corinna Baines believed them to be true at the time that she caused the fatal injuries to Michael,” a prosecutor said.https://www.kake.com/story/44285836/mother-kills-husband-with-boiling-water-after-hearing-claims-he-sexually-abused-her-children-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------#facebook #instagram #youtube #twitter #tiktok #love #instagood #follow #like #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing #bhfyp

The roadmap laid out by Boris Johnson for exiting the lockdown has a series of easing measures over three months and is pinned to improvements in hospital admissions and infections. Shadow health minister Justin Madders tells Bloomberg Westminster's Caroline Hepker and Roger Hearing the timetable is too tied to specific dates rather than data. The Labour MP for Ellesmere Port & Neston also says Johnson needs to do more on helping self-isolation and protecting borders to prevent new virus variants from coming in. We long to be, under the sea, in the Octopuses garden in the shade. Hi everyone, wow, apparently Boeing are now making submarines, that’s right, subs! We start off with the news that Boeing is to supply 4 large unmanned submarines with a very large payload to the US navy. We would rather use them for science and building an underwater habitat, but hey, this means the tech needed is becoming a reality. Trust me, this is a cool topic to check out. Then we look at unions in the gaming industry and discuss what that could mean. Not everyone will be a fan, but if it helps protect people from overwork and burnout then it is worth considering as the owners and management of a lot of the software developers are only interested in themselves. Then DJ has news that Marvel is poaching another character and ruining it, Conan the Barbarian is now going to be a Marvel character in the new Marvel Suicide Squad, oops, erm, we mean Savage Avengers. Sorry for the confusion there, but it is easy to understand the confusion when it appears that once again Marvel is presenting content that is so similar to DC. Then we have our games currently played, and the plethora of shout outs for your enjoyment. aka Add 2 Basket A téli, beborult összeállítások után kimegyünk egy kicsit a fényre!
