Ninguna de sus restricciones han sido dadas con el objetivo de privarnos de alguna de sus bendiciones; sin embargo, las puertas prohibidas por Dios, son un arma poderosa en manos del enemigo. Recordando a Eva, queda claro cómo funciona la estrategia de Satanás al usar estos letreros. Si Dios dice que no, Satanás dice: «¿Por qué no?» Si Dios dice que no cometas adulterio, el enemigo dice: «¿Por qué no? Inténtalo». Las consecuencias por entrar en puertas prohibidas ni siquiera requiere de una encuesta para saber los resultados. Si Dios dice no pasar, no pases. La buena noticia es que las puertas a las que sí nos da acceso, siempre nos llevarán por el camino correcto.

Baseball cards were collected, traded, and used in games we made up as kids. In recent decades, however, the collectibles market has turned these into a multi-million-dollar business. They are the stuff of memories, the object of historians, and an addition to some people's portfolios. A recent discovery of a rare set of T206 cards sold in cigarette packs in the early 20th century has become a book, "What's in Ted's Wallet?"  The owner of these cards was Theodore "Ted" Edison, the youngest son of Thomas Alva Edison. In the summer of 1909, Ted began collecting these cards and soon amassed a collection of 61, including 58 players. Many of them ended up in the Baseball Hall of Fame, such as Ty Cobb, Frank Chance, Walter Johnson, and Christy Mathewson. He kept them in a wallet made that year, and they were found among Ted's donated papers in the 1990s. When J.B. Manheim and co-author Lawrence Knorr found these during archival research on Edison and baseball, they knew they had a book! J.B. Manheim is Professor Emeritus at The George Washington University, where he developed the world's first degree-granting program in political communication. He is also the founding director of the School of Media & Public Affairs. He is the author of "The Deadball Files," a five-volume series on the early years of professional baseball in the 20th century. He is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research, the Internet Baseball Writers Association of America, and International Thriller Writers.

Ada 1.300 jenis barang yang tercatat sebagai hasil penemuannya dan yang paling terkenal adalah penemuan lampu pijar. Melihat hasil penemuannya, orang pasti tidak menyangka bahwa ia pernah dikeluarkan dari sekolah setelah 3 bulan mengikut pelajaran di kelas. Ia dikeluarkan karena dianggap tidak mampu mengikuti pelajaran. Pada usia 11 tahun ia bekerja sebagai penjual surat kabar di stasiun kereta api. Di stasiun itu ia membuat sebuah laboratorium kecil dan di situlah ia mulai menciptakan barang-barang yang sangat berguna bagi dunia saat ini. Nama Thomas Alva Edison tercantum sejajar dengan sederetan ilmuwan kelas dunia lainnya. Thomas Alva Edison adalah seorang tokoh legendaris di dunia IPTEK. Hukuman yang diterima Haman adalah kemenangan dan kebebasan bagi seluruh bangsa Yahudi. Mengingat peristiwa bersejarah itu, umat Yahudi selalu merayakan hari raya Purim. Di hari pertama hari raya ini, kitab Ester dibacakan. Ketika nama Haman dibacakan, orang-orang akan menangis, karena Haman adalah nama yang penuh noda di mata bangsa Yahudi. Namanya disejajarkan dengan tokoh-tokoh Alkitab lainnya yang baik dan menjadi berkat bagi banyak orang, seperti Henokh, Nuh, Musa, Yosua, Daud, Petrus, dan Paulus. Sebaliknya, nama Haman sejajar dengan nama tokoh-tokoh yang jahat seperti Kain, Firaun, dan Izebel. Setelah membaca kisah di atas, yang menjadi bahan perenungan bagi kita adalah: Apakah kelak kita akan meninggalkan nama yang harum atau nama yang jahat? Yang pasti setiap kita tentu ingin menjadi orang yang meninggalkan nama yang harum, kesan yang baik dan kenangan yang indah. Untuk itu marilah kita hidup seturut firman Tuhan, yang dibarengi dengan ketekunan dan kerja keras untuk dapat menjadi berkat bagi banyak orang. Seperti pernyataan Thomas Alva Edison bahwa untuk memperoleh keberhasilan dibutuhkan inspirasi dan kerja keras. Jika kita ingin menjadi seorang yang meninggalkan nama yang harum, lakukanlah hal-hal yang baik dengan sikap yang takut akan Tuhan. Tuhan Yesus memberkati. Doa: Tuhan Yesus, aku rindu menjadi orang yang berguna bagi keluarga, pekerjaan dan pelayananku. Mampukan aku memberikan yang terbaik dalam hidupku agar kelak bisa meninggalkan nama baik. Amin. Just in time for the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th - we hear from David Baron, author of "American Eclipse: A Nation's Epic Race to Catch the Shadow of the Moon and Win the Glory of the World." The book focuses on the 1878 total solar eclipse that was visible in much of the United States. A trio of brilliant Americans (including a young Thomas Alva Edison and an extraordinary young astronomer named Maria Mitchell) raced to the Rocky Mountains to view the eclipse, gather information, and help elevate America's status in the eyes of the world's scientific community. Baron is himself an 'umbraphile,' which means he is an eclipse chaser; he traveled around the world to observe multiple total solar eclipses. The book was initially released in 2017; it has been re-released with a new afterword.

We're gonna talk about your book not a Real Enemy, but before we do let's find out a little bit about you. What are, where do you live and what are some of the things you like to do besides writing? I. Robert: Hi, I'm Rob Wolf, and I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan the Detroit area. I was raised kindergarten through 12th grade in a small town called Mount Clemens. Suburban Detroit. Famous for Thomas Alva Edison and Sulfur Baths back in the day. They those don't, I don't know even know if those exist anymore, but back in the day it was very popular resort for that. Stephen: Yeah, I don't think Edison still exists. No. Robert: He was the Elon Musk of his day, I would say. Yeah. So yeah. And then I went to Tufts University for undergraduate. I was fortunate enough to get into Tufts University near Boston for undergraduate. And then I went to University of Michigan Medical School and I graduated in 1988. Loved Ann Arbor. What a great place to go to school. Again, very privileged, very competitive. Always a, it was a great school to go attend and it was a great school to to be an alumnus as well. And then then I did residency. I, my residency, I'm a radiologist, so I did a year internship at Framing Framingham Union Hospital near Boston Boston University affiliate. I did my radiology residency at Brown Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. And then I did a neuroradiology neuroradiology fellowship at Yale. University in New Haven, Connecticut. Now, by now I'm 30 years old. I've done half my life. I'm 60 now, so now I'm about 30, finally ready to make a living after all those years of indentured Ry. And so I've lived half my life in New England and half my life in Michigan. So I've bounced back to forth. There were no jobs when I finished my fellowship back in the nineties. So I took what I could a place in Massachusetts that I was moonlighting as a senior resident and as a fellow. I needed a radiologist, so I took a job there and I was there four years, and then back to Michigan for seven years, and then back to Massachusetts with my wife at the time. And worked a few jobs inpatient, outpatient hospital work tele radio, tele radiography work. I still do some teleradiology now. I'm, I do two days a week, part-time, Wednesdays and Thursdays just to stay, stay in the loop. I can tell, we'll talk a little bit more about that when we talk about the history of my book, but Besides medicine, which I've been doing. So now I've been doing that, let's say 33 years in radiology, 34 years. And it's been a great it's been a great run. I've been part-time since I was 43, so about half of my career I've been part-time and the other half pretty much full-time. And, night call and weekends and all that other stuff. Besides radiology, I love sports. I love all sports.

We have a patent anniversary to acknowledge today as our “this day in legal history” entry. On this day in 1869, Thomas Alva Edison was granted a patent for an electric voting machine to be used by Congress. The “Vote Recorder” was Edison's first patented invention and was specifically designed for legislative bodies like Congress. His motivation for creating this device came from reports in the Telegrapher, stating that the Washington, D.C., City Council and the New York State legislature were considering the installation of electric vote recorders. Edison's system involved each legislator moving a switch to indicate a "yes" or "no" vote, which transmitted a signal to a central recorder. The recorder had two columns of metal type labeled "Yes" and "No," where the names of the members were listed. A recording clerk would then place chemically prepared paper over the columns and roll a metallic roller over it, creating imprints of the names through chemical decomposition.The machine also had dials on its sides to record the total number of "yeas" and "nays." Edison was granted U.S. Patent 90,646 for this invention on June 1, 1869. A fellow telegrapher named Dewitt Roberts bought a share in the invention for $100 and brought it to Washington, D.C., to demonstrate to a committee of Congress. However, the chairman of the committee was unimpressed with the device's speed in recording votes and stated that it was not something they wanted. The traditional roll call voting process, although slow, allowed members to filibuster or persuade others to change their votes, leading to the vote recorder's ultimate disuse.Like so many great ideas, Edison's invention died in committee. Rutgers - Vote RecorderThe House of Representatives passed a debt-limit legislation proposed by President Joe Biden and Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The bill, approved with a 314-117 bipartisan vote, aims to impose spending restraints until the 2024 election and prevent a potential U.S. default. The agreement garnered support from two-thirds of House Republicans, boosting McCarthy's position as speaker. More Democrats voted in favor than Republicans and conservative critics argue that the deal was unfavorable. The bill now moves to the Senate, where approval is expected. The legislation suspends the debt ceiling until January 1, 2025, while Democrats agreed to cap federal spending until then. The agreement is seen as a rare moment of bipartisan accord in a divided Washington. Investors have already shifted their focus to other factors influencing growth, such as potential Federal Reserve interest rate increases and the weakening Chinese economy.Debt-Limit Deal Wins House Passage, Easing US Default ConcernsTwo members of the far-right Oath Keepers militant group are facing sentencing for seditious conspiracy and other crimes related to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of then-President Donald Trump. The requested documents relate to matters central to the government's case, such as FTX's use of disappearing messaging services and failure to properly register with regulators. Bankman-Fried has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including fraud and conspiracy. Prosecutors have opposed his request, stating that his claims are meritless.Bankman-Fried seeks documents from former FTX law firm in crypto fraud case | ReutersRetired NYPD Sergeant Michael McMahon and two individuals accused of being Chinese agents are standing trial in Brooklyn for their alleged involvement in a plot to repatriate a former Chinese government official residing in New Jersey. McMahon, hired as a private investigator, is accused of surveilling the target, while Zhen is accused of harassing the target and his daughter. The prosecution argues that each defendant played a role in the Chinese government's efforts to intimidate and threaten the victim. McMahon has pleaded not guilty, claiming he was unaware of the true intent behind the scheme. The trial is expected to last two to three weeks, and if convicted, McMahon could face up to 10 years in prison.Ex-NYPD Sgt., others accused of harassing and intimidating Chinese dissidents in US - ABC7 New YorkPet supply retailer Chewy Inc has won a challenge to a fine imposed by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) over a forklift accident that resulted in the death of a warehouse worker. The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously that Chewy did not violate federal workplace safety law because it had complied with a specific rule governing forklifts. OSHA had fined Chewy around $13,000 in 2019 following the accident in Florida, but the court found that the company had provided the required training and that the OSHA rule on forklifts applied, preempting the general duty to protect workers. The court's decision highlighted that the retail industry generally does not consider eliminating "under-rides" necessary and that doing so could actually increase the risk of accidents. For those that don't moonlight as forklift operators, an “under-ride” is when a forklift operator reverses towards a storage rack with the forks trailing. If the operator extends the forklift too far, causing it to pass beneath the horizontal crossbar, it creates an "under-ride" situation. In such cases, the crossbar can enter the operator's compartment and result in injury. Essentially, it is running a fork-lift backwards such that the front safety mechanisms are not the first thing to hit a shelf – you are. La emisión de este espacio y su recepción no sería posible sin el invento hace más de un siglo del audion, la primera válvula electrónica de tipo tríodo. Previamente, Thomas Alva Edison descubrió en 1880 que cuando añadía a una de sus bombillas una placa con carga positiva, se originaba una corriente eléctrica estable que iba del filamento incandescente (o cátodo) hacia el cargado positivamente (o ánodo). Es lo que se conocería como "Efecto Edison". Décadas más tarde, en 1904 --recuerda José Antonio Martín Pereda, ingeniero de telecomunicación y miembro de la Real Academia de Ingeniería--, el británico John Ambrose Fleming descubrió que ese efecto podía emplearse para pasar de corriente alterna a continua. Para ello construyó la primera válvula de vacío (o diodo) y se dio cuenta de que su dispositivo podía ser lo que Marconi andaba buscando en aquella época para detectar ondas de radio a mayores distancias. Edison y Fleming se enzarzaron en una larga guerra de patentes. En 1906, y en medio de esa guerra, al ingeniero estadounidense Lee de Forest se le ocurrió la idea de introducir entre el filamento incandescente y la placa un tercer elemento al que llamó rejilla, convirtiendo de este modo al diodo en tríodo. Sorprendido y sin saber cuál era el mecanismo, descubrió que bastaba aplicar una pequeña carga a su esa rejilla para aumentar la potencia de la corriente que fluía desde el cátodo hasta el ánodo. Forest llamó a su invento audion. Acababa de inventar el amplificador. Sin embargo los audiones no eran fiables. A veces funcionaban bien y a veces no. Irving Langmuir, quien sería galardonado con el premio Nobel de Química en 1932, descubrió que el problema se debía al gas que contenían las válvulas. El audion fue toda una revolución porque no solo amplificaba las señales eléctricas, sino también las transmisiones de audio y, además, servía para enviar y recibir ondas de radio. Con aquel tercer filamento en la válvula de vacío, de Forest inauguró, sin saberlo, la era de la electrónica. Escuchar audio
