A city retail worker has referred to Adelaide CBD as “Gotham city”....after a string of knife-related crime. Business leaders are warning South Australian bosses need to get “creative” about offering flexible work options, from early finish times to four-day weeks – or risk missing out on the best talent. Umpires and players could be forgiven for seeing double this weekend with dozens of footy-playing twins among junior footballers taking to grounds across Adelaide at the start of the 2023 season. New research from Finder has revealed the true cost of owning a home in SA, with the total bill for those buying a home for $1m or less closer to double the ticket price. American patriots, and why these cats are "true American Patriots". On this weeks episode of DC’s HARLEY QUINN – SEASON 2 – EPISODE 3 – TRAPPED – Harley and her crew find themselves at Mr. Freeze’s territory of New Gotham to get her revenge on Mr. Freeze. His two henchmen, Fred and Kevin, accidentally relay the exact information needed to invade his fortress – the firegun from the Gotham Natural History Museum. Kite man, who gives Harley and Ivy a lift to the museum, expresses his love for Ivy with premade snacks and a kiss goodbye, giving Harley the impression that Kite man is not good enough for her bestie. Upon entering the museum, they encounter traps that are set by Dr. Trap himself. After testing some with a thrown coin, they realize they need the help of a third party – Catwoman. Back at Harley’s lair, Riddler is put to work on the running wheel giving power to her crew. Riddler taunts Dr. Phsyco, playing on his insecurities. In a fit of rage, Dr. Psyco begins to throw miscellaneous lotions and body butters at him, allowing Riddler to set the stage for his grand escape. When everyone is occupied, Riddler uses the lotions to rub all over his body and slip out of his shackle, taunting Psy, Clayface, Shark and Dr. Psyco to give chase in hopes of finding him before Harley returns. Riddler actually comes back, in a show of good faith, confessing his want to stay. Harley and Ivy meet with Catwoman to discuss helping them through the plethora of traps. Although aloof, she accepts as long as she can steal the Egyptian ruby for herself. Over lunch, Ivy displays the apparent girl crush she has had on Catwoman and how much she covets the life Catwoman has made for herself. When the time comes to break into the History Museum, Ivy girlfans over Catwoman’s stealth, while Kitman confesses to Harley that he is going to participate in the heist so he can steal a leaf-shaped diamond ring to propose to Ivy. As the quest begins, Kite Man displays his inability to defeat any trap. He and Harley meet up with Ivy and Catwoman at the firegun destination. Broken and bruised, he is convinced this is the time to propose to Ivy. But upon opening the ring box, there is no ring to be found. All eyes turn to Catwoman as she is quietly escaping with the ring on her finger. Dr. Trap takes this moment to capture Harley, Ivy and Kite Man in one of his traps and squish them to death. Kite man desperately tries to explain the purpose of his proposal, while Ivy confesses, she is not ready to marry and doesn’t know if she ever will be. A tear quietly slides down Kite Mans face. Ivy turns to point out that Harley is in fact in possession of a firegun. She uses the firegun to blow a hole in the trap in the nick of time, allowing Dr. Trap to be vulnerable for the takedown. The end scene, over acid dripping board members, Harley and Ivy share a sweet moment, where Harley gives her blessing for Ivy to marry Kite Man. In turn Ivy confesses she wants to get back to her roots, and perhaps having people to support her in the process isn’t as bad as being alone. Ivy returns to Kite Man’s shabby apartment in hopes of asking him to ask her again. The answer must wait until next time. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
On this weeks episode of DC's HARLEY QUINN - SEASON 2 - EPISODE 2 - RIDDLE U - Harley Quinn and Ivy have to infiltrate Riddler's section of New Gotham known as Riddle U because its the only part of the city that has running clean water and electricity. The only way to break in is to disguise themselves as college girls and hitching a ride on the back of Kiteman, who's return to the show has been highly anticipated. Clayface creates the character Stephanie to join the duo but knowing Clayface's flair for the dramatics his request to join is denied. He does so anyway as Stephanie, a character reminiscent of the movie White Chicks, and is immediately the most popular girl on campus, even saving Harley and Ivy with their college monikers Heather Weatherby and Isadora Staplebumpkin from being found out by saying they are with her, an excuse that is easily accepted by the college tour guide "Babs". Their mission to find Riddler and get electricity and water for themselves as well. They are then discovered by the guide as Harley attacks the Riddler who turns out to only be the school mascot. Babs quick escapes to seemingly raise the alarm and Harley gives chase only to find out Babs is a "surprisingly agile tour guide"m as she flips her way to an escape to her dorm room. Harley and Ivy break into the dorm room to a room full of Batman memorabilia and none other than Commissioner Gordon himself. "Babs" turns out to be short for "Barbara Gordon" aka Batgirl. She convinces Harley and Ivy that she is vehemently against the Riddler and tells them of a sinister Frat Party that happens in which students go in but never come out. Taking all 3 wristbands from Babs, the two look for Stephanie to sneak into the party. Stephanie is already invited as VIP. Once she enters VIP she is not seen from either. This inspires Harley and and Ivy to sneak Inside the VIP inside the party as well only to find Riddle using students to run in hamster wheels to power everything. They are quickly captured and placed in hamster wheels themselves alongside Clayface Stephanie. Meanwhile Babs and Commissioner Gordon have some heart felt words. Gordon has lost confidence and feels undefined and helpless without "the Bat" referring to Batman. Babs takes it on herself to break into the party as well. She dons a hoodie and mask and finds Harley, Ivy, and Stephanie on their respective hamster wheels. Successful fighting goons Babs finds a gun, aims at the switch instead of Riddler. When she fails to hit the switch, Babs throws the gun at Riddler's forehead which jabs him into the switch and knocks him out. Harley and Ivy capture him and take them back to their lair. While this is going on Shark and Dr. Psyco are having an adventure of their own. They are delegated to a task that takes them through Two Face territory where they run into Two Face's goons who drive in police cars and speak like 1930s gangsters. They then escape to Baneton where Bane goons are not easily defeated by their car contraption escape from Two Face's goons. Bane goons take the serum and eat the tire. We return to the lair where Shark and Psycho have donned Bane masks as they escaped by becoming "Bane Boys" and ironically Riddler is running in a hamster providing energy for Harley and Ivy's lair. We return to Riddle U to see Babs, inspired by the lack of action by Commissioner Gordon and her love and obsession with Batman, donning gear befitting her of a Batman like costume, introducing Batgirl. Coming back from our mid season finale DC's HARLEY QUINN - NEW GOTHAM - SEASON 2 - EPISODE 1 starts off with a recap from Poison Ivy herself in which we learn it has been 3 weeks since Harley took down Joker, theres no Legion of Doom and no Batman. To which Ivy advises Harley that Gotham is Harley's for the taking. In fact Gotham City has been disowned by the United States. Waiting for these 5 star sushi from the chef Harley has just kidnapped, Harley decides to take this opportunity to liberate all the henchmen. Harley does not want to rule, she thinks Anarchy is best. Ivy waiting for her "I told you so" moment disagrees with Harley however Harley has already convinced all the henchmen and goons to be their own bad guy. Many emulate the villains we are familiar with. On the other side of town, after their henchmen turn on them, the remaining supervillains Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Riddle, Two Face, and Bane start their own organization the Injustice League. They carve up a New New Gotham, giving the smallest piece to Harley. Harley attempts to stop them but is frozen by Mr. Freeze. Meanwhile Gordon tries to search for Batman who also goes missing in the downing of Joker's building by Harley. Robin shows up in Batman's uniform but he is no Batman. Gordon loses control of the police force as they become the Bane Boys on their own. There seems to be no hope. Ivy and the team rescue Harley from being a frozen statue in Penguin's casino. Harley kills Penguin in a fight and is free. She learns it has been two months since the Injustice League meeting. Gotham is not the Gotham she knew. In another part of Gotham, Bruce Wayne has been recovered from the rubble. We discuss all this and more on this weeks DC's HARLEY QUINN - NEW GOTHAM - SEASON 1 - EPISODE 14 Afterbuzz Aftershow. Birds Of Prey was a Batman-inspired series that aired on the WB from 2002-2003. With the WB's Birds making a cameo in Crisis On Infinite Earths and 2020 being the year of Birds Of Prey with a feature film coming out in February, the time seemed right for us to cover what could be described as the the spiritual sister series to Smallville. In 2020 our Patreon will be covering one episode of Birds Of Prey a month with...Always Hold On To Birds Of Prey! Joining me in this endeavor will be host of Broken Wings: The Unofficial Birds of Prey Commentary Podcast and Lois and Clark'd: The New Podcasts Of Superman, Matt Truex! You know him from many episodes of Always Hold On To Smallville and he's been a regular voice on the Patreon as well. I could think of no one more qualified to navigate the streets and alleyways of New Gotham with! Seeing as there are 12 months in a year and 13 episodes of Birds Of Prey, we're covering the pilot episode this month on the main podcast feed as a preview to all listeners of what to expect from Always Hold On To Birds Of Prey. We're talking about satellites and microchips and bodysuits, which can mean only one thing: its time for Future Joker! This week Nando and DJ dance their way over to New Gotham or whatever to watch the TV movie thing, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. They nitpick the nightclubs, the red herrings, and of course Joker's plan.
“New Gotham, new rules... even a new Batman. But now I'm tanned, I'm rested, and I'm ready to give this old town a wedgie again!” This week we’re talking the animated feature film, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker Featuring: The return of The Joker, obviously. But is it the real Joker?! Plus: In lieu of Cameron’s Course Correction, check out our new segment, Chris’ Comments on Comments. In this weeks episode of Comic Book Break I start with the book club section of the podcast. Starting with New Gotham #1 Batman Evolution, which connects directly to No Man's Land!
It was a dark time - the eight years between BATMAN & ROBIN and BATMAN BEGINS - and The WB decided to fill it with the live-action superhero series BIRDS OF PREY. Created by Laeta Kalogridis (TERMINATOR GENISYS), with many episodes written by Melissa Rosenberg (TWILIGHT, JESSICA JONES), the short-lived BIRDS OF PREY teamed up Batman's daughter, Black Canary's daughter, the former Batgirl and Alfred Pennyworth against a new generation of supervillains in New Gotham, led by the first live-action version of Harley Quinn, played by Mia Sara (FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF). But was BIRDS OF PREY canceled too soon? Join your hosts William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold as they pluck away at this cult favorite series, and find out what was ahead of its time and what feels like a relic from the early 2000s. Was BIRDS OF PREY the show we needed, the show we deserved, or just the best we could get in 2002? Follow us on Twitter at @BMoviesPodcast, "Like" us at Facebook.com/CanceledTooSoon, follow Bibbs at @WilliamBibbiani and follow Witney at @WitneySeibold.
