Conversations with two rising stars in the roots and country music world making their MerleFest debuts, along with excerpts of their latest music and commentary from host and producer Joe Kendrick
I met up with honky-tonk queen, Hannah Juanita, as she was preparing for her first show at The Burl, in Lexington, Kentucky, opening for Nick Shoulders and the Okay Crawdad. We talked about her love for Cajun culture, being a honky-tonk songwriter, and early music memories.
I wanted to make sure and give some attention to some other artists who made incredibly music this year! Brent Cobb, Zach Bryan, Nick Shoulders, Hiss Golden Messenger, Molly Tuttle, Margo Price, Van Plating, Lukas Nelson, Colter Wall, Marty Stuart, Joy Olodakun, Cinder Wells, Dom Flemons, Blind Boys, Matt Andersen, and the Shootouts!
New week, New Episode! This week the fellas cover the work of outstanding singer/songwriter Nick Shoulders and his band the Okay Crawdads! The boys discuss how the music falls into a category separate from the Outlaw Country Extended Universe (OCEU), the serious content that can be found in his lyrics despite the never-ending sounds of joy, his unique, refreshing take on an old-style, and of course, HIS VOICE! We also included clips from Spencer's interview with a couple of the Okay Crawdads Cheech Moosekain and Grant D'Aubin from the concert at the Palomino this summer (At which Spencer was very drunk and kept referring to Nick as Nathan). Big thank you to both of them for sharing their time. The fellas also talk cults, brief life updates, and the city of New Orleans!Welcome to Misfits on Vinyl! A weekly comedy podcast where we review our favorite albums, and discuss the artist's history, cultural events, and everything else that influenced the album!Hosted by Comedian Spencer Streichert & his funny friend Aaron Walsh.Theme song by The VidosMisfits on Vinyl Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/misfitsonvinylpodcast/?hl=enSpencer Streichert Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/spencerstreichert/?hl=enThe Vidos Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thevidosband/?hl=enThe Vidos Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thevidosband #music #podcast #albumreaction #albumreview #nickshoulders #countrymusic #folkmusic #arkansas #allbad Hosted on Acast. On this week's episode: A group of women ascend the Grand Teton to honor a 100-year anniversary. Later we talk about bears, berries and ways to keep residents safe and bruins prepare to hibernate for winter. And we hear another conversation in our One Small Step series, which shares conversations between people with different political beliefs. Also, we go mushroom foraging — but don't expect local hunters to quickly share up their secret spots. Plus, multi-instrumentalist and yodeler Nick Shoulders shares his take on modern country music. Jackson Unpacked airs locally at 89.1 FM or via live-stream Mondays at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Fridays at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and Sundays at 12:30 p.m. Support Jackson's only nonprofit newsroom by becoming a member of KHOL today.
Nick and I sit down at the Twin Cities Saloon and talk about everything.

Zale discusses how Pickathon became the first American music festival to eliminate all plastic and single-use dishware. Nick Shoulders joins the conversation to talk about growing up in Arkansas, sustainability in music, fireworks naval battles, and how he learned to be the best yodeling country singer alive. The show finishes with Zale and Nick playing a song together.
John and Charlie chat with country artist Nick Shoulders about his punk rock roots, his dissatisfaction with the current state of country music and how his songs address it. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Last show of the year for me, a few of the classics and a generous helping from a couple of the 'best of 2022' lists stalked online. Some great songs in there, especially Mariel Buckley's I hate this town and the Nick Shoulders cover of Blondie's Heart of Glass.

Tentokrát žádné zběsilé křepčení, ale spíš podupávání do rytmu. Návrat ke kořenům hudby z Dalekého západu. Živáky z kanálu Western AF představí například Colter Wall, Jesse Daniel, Nick Shoulders či The Local Honeys. Spousta příběhů, spousta muziky a spousta skvělých muzikantů. Western AF je místo které skvěle ladí s podzimem.
