I am grateful for the opportunity to speak with MegAnne Ford and also grateful that the conversation was able to be shared with others. MegAnne is a parent coach and an amazing human. Her presence on TikTok and Instagram is a breath of fresh air for anyone desiring deeply to follow their hearts in all areas of their lives. One of my favorite aspects of MegAnne's content and work is her capacity to drive home how worthy you are as a parent regardless of what we may believe due to our past or how we were raised. Here is a bit about MegAnne in her own words along with a link to her website, TikTok, and Instagram pages. "Over the years, I have worked with well over 500 different children in a variety of life stages and situations. I have thrived when building sustaining relationships with the families I work with, and I love seeing all the successes over the years! This is what has inspired me to become a certified life and parent coach and start Be Kind Coaching. This is the next phase of my life, teaching me patience. Throughout all my years I have always worked on building unique families' goals. These goals include where they'd like to see themselves in the future, then building a strategy that will get them there. This can look like reducing yelling inside the home around certain instances, potty training your children, or developing morning/evening routines. I love working 1:1 with parents, children, teens to get them to the place in life that they wish to be but may be having a hard time achieving on their own. Coaching is about building a relationship of trust together and working together to build a more positive relationship between your family. I am honored every day to be doing the work that I do!" This week was really hard. I did a big, brave thing. (I bought a schoolbus to convert into a mini-home)I made a big, hard mistake. (The schoolbus turned out to be a lemon and I lost $10,000)And I learned some big, hard lessons. (Well, you're just going to have to listen to the episode to hear about that!)I am so grateful that I had this conversation with Hannah and Kelty of Upbringing a few weeks before I had my terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week. In this conversation, we talk about how the most important thing that you can do as a parent or caregiver is to regulate your own nervous system to model to little humans how to become friends with their own nervous systems. This is so important because when we grow up, we come up against big, brave things; big, hard mistakes; and big, important lessons and our nervous systems are the vehicle that we ride to help us through these inevitable moments in our lives. In this episode, we will learn about: Reclaiming the terms “spirited” and “sensitive” as reflections of our childrens' nervous systems working and adapting perfectly to their environmentHow to teach your child how to befriend their nervous system Parenting your child to focus on the Self rather than the opinions of the external world Why conflict feels unsafe for both parents and children and how we can normalize struggle and create security around challengesListen to this episode if...You are a parent to a spirited and sensitive child OR you have a sensitive and spirited Inner Child you are reparenting Your Speakers:Kat Lee is an Intimacy + Relationship Coach, host of The Empowered Curiosity Podcast and Creator of The Heart Lab. Family Confidential: Secrets of Successful Parenting with Annie Fox, M.Ed.
Are 21st Century Dads really all that different from 20th century dads? According to parent coach Aaron Schiller, "Today's dads around the world are changing more diapers than ever before." A welcome change, for sure, but in what other ways are dads stepping into a more prominent role in the lives of their sons and daughters? Annie talks with Aaron about helping dads transition into a hands-on relationship with their children, especially if they themselves had a mostly "hands-off" kind of father growing up. About Aaron Schiller (@CoachSchiller) Aaron Schiller coaches and counsels kids and parents who are struggling, like so many of us do–with divorce, school, behavior, a crisis, a big change, or even just feeling disconnected from each other, and he's developed an in-home, whole family model that reaches kids and adults where they live. Aaron has more than fifteen years of experience working with young people as a former Special Education Teacher, Group Home Counselor and Youth Sports Coach. He is also the founder of the Mindful Father Experience, a training designed to support dads in their journey to be more involved, patient, accepting, and loving parents.
