I'm popping in with some big news! I'm giving myself a gift – a sabbatical! From now until February 2025, there won't be any new Enough Already podcast episodes. But this isn't just a vacation; it's an intentional space to rethink how I can serve my clients better and tap into new ideas, like the book I want to write and my evolving business strategy. A quote by Richard Rohr inspired me: 'Doing must be balanced out by not doing.' I'm embracing this balance to bring my best to my clients, even though it comes with nerves around finances. I believe this sabbatical will be a huge investment in myself and my work. While I'm pausing the podcast and new client work, I'm still passionate about helping mid-career professionals build standout consulting and coaching brands. My team will share highlights from past episodes on YouTube and LinkedIn, so if we're not connected yet, please do so! You can also sign up for my client waitlist on my website and get access to free brand messaging trainings. If you've ever thought about taking a sabbatical or have tips to share, I'd love to hear from you. Email me or connect on LinkedIn. [0:24:40]: Reasons why giving yourself a deadline for decision-making is essential for freeing yourself from analysis paralysis About My Guest: Rainer Janetzki is a dedicated multi-passionate coaching professional with years of experience helping others achieve their personal and professional goals. He is a trusted senior HR leader to executives in Fortune 40 companies, a career coach to senior leaders in transition, a retirement coach for people ready to create their legacy, a LinkedIn expert and so much more. The Self-Acceptance Path to Confidence for Consultants & Coaches with Laura Gallaher (Ep103)

Learn actionable strategies for boosting your confidence as a consultant and coach with the power of self-acceptance I've been there: Big dreams for consulting and then coaching business thwarted by my fear and self-doubt. And I also have been in a space where I've felt in the flow, completely confident. What made the difference? That's what I'm going to share with you in this episode. I invited organizational psychologist, speaker, and executive coach Dr. Laura Gallaher on the show to chat about the power of self-acceptance and how this is THE path to confidence and better results. She isn't going to share that generic and unhelpful advice about “dressing the part” or just do things that are scary to you. She offers a science-based hack to confidence which is about cultivating self-acceptance of who you are and where you're actually at in your business development. In this episode, Laura shares: How being okay with who you are, flaws and all, rather than tying your worth to achievements is the antidote to self-doubt Reasons why self-acceptance accelerates growth and makes decision-making easier (vs. the hurdle that judging yourself creates) How taking credit for small progress builds self-acceptance The connection between sharing your “big dreams publicly can accelerate their achievement What you can learn from toddlers when learning new skills What happens to everyone around you when you lead with vulnerability and courage Let's be real here. When it comes to growing a consulting or coaching business, confidence is essential. It's what you need to start your business in the first place, get clients, and eventually take your place as a sought-after expert and thought leader. Here's a glance at this episode… [0:00:21]: Laura's unique journey from organizational psychologist to digital nomad to expert in self-acceptance and how she realized focusing on her achievements and tying her worth to it wasn't an adequate definition or approach to success. [0:03:30]: The crucial difference between self-acceptance and self-esteem and how the former fuels growth and how the latter is a moving target that is a defensive hurdle to growth [0:26:23]: How self-acceptance is exactly what you need as a consulting and coaching business owner and how the “I should already know this myth” will kill your impact and income potential [0:34:38]: How to inspire even CEO's and executive teams to cultivate self-acceptance and how that is the key to igniting people-centric, learning organizational cultures About My Guest: Dr. Laura Gallaher is an organizational psychologist, speaker, facilitator, executive coach, and the CEO & founder of the Gallaher Edge – a consulting company that applies the science behavior to organizational effectiveness. Her firm offers transformational workshops, strategic and culture consulting, and individual coaching that empowers her clients to create cohesive cultures that drive results. Why finding your voice is the key that unlocks your consulting or coaching potential Finding your voice isn't just about getting on the stage as a speaker; it's the main thing you need to launch your business, create compelling content, write that book you've dreamed about, and yes, take the stage with confidence. Without it, you don't just feel unheard; your entire vision risks fading into the background. I know what it's like to search for the right words, grapple with self-doubt, and have it stand in the way of your goals as a consultant, coach, writer, and speaker. It's a tough spot when your ideas don't get out there and you're not making the impact you know is possible. Can you relate to this silent struggle? If so, this episode is for you. Join me as I sit down with Sara Giita Flores, a speaking coach and author of the book Unleashing Your Goddess Voice, to guide us through this maze of vocal discovery. Together, we'll explore how to articulate your message with clarity and confidence – from the networking event to the stage as a keynote speaker. So tune in and discover… [0:02:22]: How to tell if you're using your authentic voice (and why you might repress it) [0:09:40]: The real reason why most of us hold ourselves back from speaking our truth with confidence (even we got something important to share) [0:16:55]: Compassionate strategies for overcoming the four visibility fears [0:26:33]: Why you'll get better ideas if you open yourself up to divine inspiration, even if you're not spiritual or “woo” type of person [0:37:17]: How to be more confident and effective on stage, even if you never delivered a speech before [0:47:20]: The surprising role that setting effectiveness boundaries plays in your ability to use your voice with power and communicate effectively So if you're tempted to play small and stay silent, tune in and start to believe the #1 thing you need to take your place as a thought leader and influencer – your voice matters. Spoiler alert – it's NOT “just getting out there and getting clients.” I get the desire for instant results and the pressure to replace your salary with business revenue, but it sets the stage for “hit or miss” results which not only jacks with your income but also your self-esteem. Playing the short game is one the biggest reasons why so many consultants and coaches struggle to achieve their full potential – they find themselves in the chase for clients, under-charging their worth, caught in the “hourly” service provider-for-hire trap, struggling with feeling stuck and confused or just giving up on their entrepreneurial dreams altogether. But it doesn't have to be this way and here's how: Go Slow to Grow Fast. You know that this works because this is the advice you give others, especially if you are an organizational consultant or coach. Spoiler alert: You don't need a ton of entrepreneurial experience to launch your own consulting or coaching business If you're like a lot of aspiring consulting or coaching business owners, you may have thought, “I'd love to become my own boss, but I don't have enough entrepreneurial experience or skills!” And if that's you, you're not alone! This is a common barrier when it comes to taking the leap from being an employee into full-time consulting or coaching business ownership. But here's the thing. The belief that you “should already know” how to launch a business, market yourself, land clients, and deliver results as a consultant or coach is a total myth. It's a false belief on the same level as you have to fix your car before you take it to the repair shop, clean your house before the house cleaner shows up, or get healthy before you go to the doctor. I want to show you why accepting that “You don't already know how to do this” is EXACTLY what you need to fast-track your business launch and your success. To do that, I'm going to share the inspiring story of my Brand Messaging & Positioning client, Kimberly Bolton. Kimberly transformed her 20+ year career as an educational leader into her dream coaching business focused on teacher mental health and stress resilience in less than 90 days…even though she had never been an entrepreneur before. Her example is proof that you can accelerate your launch of a business and breakthrough brand by first embracing what you DON'T know. Navigating the murky waters of transition can be an arduous voyage. The fear of the unknown often paralyzes us, causing us to retreat into familiar territories. As your host, I bring you a conversation with Dr. Chris Hoff, a man who boldly ventured into the unknown and emerged with a unique blend of business acumen and psychological insight. Chris, a former technology entrepreneur, shares his enlightening journey of metamorphosis - from a midlife crisis that led him to therapy, to eventually harnessing his experiences into a unique consulting practice. In our engaging conversation, Chris and I delve deep into the concept of 'liminal space.' First coined by Arnold Van Gennep, it is a fascinating term that captures the transitional phase between what was and what is yet to be. Chris sheds light on our collective discomfort with uncertainty and how coaching and consulting can train us to build resilience during such tricky times. His stories are a testament to the power of embracing change and taking risks, even when the outcomes are not guaranteed. As the conversation unfolds, we discuss practical strategies for navigating these liminal spaces during significant life changes. We touch upon the importance of conflict resolution within organizations, the role of building relationships in initiating genuine transformations, and how Chris uses his mentoring skills to promote successful change efforts. Whether you are in the thick of a career transition or simply contemplating one, our chat with Dr. Chris Hoff is filled with invaluable insights and actionable advice you don't want to miss! Where to dive in: (0:00:00) - Fear of the Unknown in Business (11 Minutes) Chris shares his journey of going from an entrepreneur running a technology staffing company to a therapist, and then combining his business experience with his psychology background to create a consulting business. We discuss what drew him to the therapy field during his midlife crisis and how he was able to use his business and psychology background to create a unique consulting business. We chat about why fear of the unknown is such a big deal and how to handle it. (0:10:58) - Liminal Spaces and Transformation (15 Minutes) Arnold Van Gennep coined the term liminal space, described as a territory between where we were and where we're not quite yet. Humans are not socialized to tolerate uncertainty and it is necessary to build the skills required for transversing liminal space. People often turn back to what is known and familiar when in liminal space and this is often mistaken for self-sabotage. Coaching and consulting can be helpful in making the leap to the possible to know. (0:25:59) - Embracing Change and Uncertainty (10 Minutes) Chris shares his journey of taking a leap of faith and how it has worked for him. We examine the idea of being in a known and familiar space, and how it resonates with our internal world. We also explore how fear can be a factor in taking a risky move, and how to scaffold yourself to what might be possible. Finally, we discuss how to pay attention to the milestones of what it might be when transitioning from one career to another. (0:35:50) - Navigating Liminal Spaces in Change (7 Minutes) We talk about the importance of recognizing the reasons behind discontent and the need to give family members and others grace in order to catch up. We explore the concept of going slow to go fast when it comes to making big changes, especially when they involve a liminal space. We discuss why evolutionary change principles don't always work when it comes to transformational changes. We also discuss why consultants and coaches are so important in liminal spaces, and why not having a formal place on the org chart can actually be more powerful. (0:42:32) - Conflict Resolution in Organizations (14 Minutes) Chris shares his thoughts on how he approaches his mentoring practice and how it can contribute to successful change efforts. The power of relationship in creating real change and how it can help with liminal space is discussed. Finally, how Chris focuses on helping small teams and individuals resolve conflict in order to have wider ripples of change in the world is looked at. (0:56:48) - Promoting Subscribing to a Podcast (0 Minutes) We explore how taking a leap of faith can be beneficial for personal growth and how mentoring can help support successful change efforts. We need to recognize the reasons behind discontent and give grace to family members and others in order to catch up. Chris shares his journey of going from an entrepreneur running a technology staffing company to a therapist, and then combining his business experience with his therapeutic practice. About the guest: Dr. Christ Hoff came to this work because he is passionate about helping individuals become more fulfilled in their personal and professional lives, assisting organizations to meet and surpass their goals, and dissolving conflict between individuals, teams and in organizations in more creative ways. He began his career in sales and sales management with a division of a Fortune 500 company in the aerospace and defense industry. After winning individual and sales management awards (highest performance in sales, branch of the year), he went on to co-found Two Roads Professional Resources Inc., a full-service engineering and information technology staffing company, helping to grow the business to eight figures in sales and over 200 employees, he successfully exited the business in January 2010. During this successful run, he was an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award finalist and was twice recognized for excellence in entrepreneurship by the Orange County Business Journal. After his corporate and entrepreneurial success, he decided to follow his dream of becoming a therapist. His formal education includes a Ph.D.. From Loma Linda University in marriage & family therapy, where his concentration was in organizational development and systems consulting. However, she struggled for years with an imbalanced gut, which led to weight gain (seemingly overnight!), fatigue, eczema, and imbalanced hormones. All of which affected her cycle, mood, and well-being. Doctors always told her everything looked “normal.” But she knew better and was always surprised when they just wanted to prescribe something to mask symptoms vs. getting to the root cause of my issues. After taking a deep dive into Ayurvedic principles and Chinese Medicine herbs and becoming a certified Integrative Health Practitioner, she found the areas that she was either deficient in or too toxic, and got them back into balance through specific protocols. And just like that, I transformed my body and life. Now, she can't wait to help you detoxify, re-balance your gut and hormones, and optimize your health because a balanced body can't be overweight, overstressed or sick.
