Lord Jesus, thank You that strength does not begin with what we have inside ourselves. It begins with You. When our own resources feel small, You invite us to depend upon You. We pray for people in Germany, Kenya, Austria, Belgium, Spain and France. Strengthen those who are working under pressure, caring for families, facing financial concerns or simply trying to keep going when life feels heavy Holy Spirit, give us grace for this moment rather than anxiety about everything still to come. Help us do today's work without carrying tomorrow's weight. Jesus, we began this day remembering that You are with us. Now teach us to lean upon that presence. We don't need to prove that we are strong. We need to stay close to the One who gives strength. Give confidence without pride, perseverance without panic, and courage without pretending that everything is easy. If today feels too much, help us take it one step at a time. - Jesus, You are not asking us to carry the whole day at once. You are giving us strength for the step in front of us. If the day has become demanding, or you feel stretched beyond what you expected, this moment is for you. This is a prayer to help you keep going with strength that does not come from yourself alone. We are praying from the words of Jesus in the Lord's Prayer — “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done.” Father, in the middle of this day, we come back to You again. Not because everything is easy, but because we know You are present within it all. Your Kingdom come. Even here, in the pressure. Even here, in the pace of the day. When faced with challenges or difficult situations, we can find answers and solutions by seeking guidance in the Bible. The speaker explains how King David, in the Psalms, often expressed his emotions and struggles, but ultimately found strength and hope by speaking God's promises. By focusing on the Word of God and allowing it to guide our thoughts and actions, we can overcome any obstacle. This video encourages viewers to approach Philippians 4:13 not as an abstract concept, but as a practical tool for finding strength and direction through the power of God's Word.

Just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. Thanks for sharing our devotionals with your men daily. Paul presents an airtight case for salvation by faith alone by referring to the Jewish icon of faith, Father Abraham. In this section, he will explain to the Galatians how Abraham (like them) was saved only by faith, not by circumcision, and that the covenant made to Abraham was a blessing for all nations, including Gentiles. Today, this compels me to address the issue of proof-texting head-on. Proof-texting is a method of interpreting Scripture that selects specific lines of Scripture, or "proof texts," that appear to support a particular belief or doctrine without considering the broader context of the passage. Thus, in Paul's correction, we can see this is precisely what the Judaizers were doing. This approach led Jewish believers to a biased interpretation of Scripture, which ignored some pretty apparent truths about Abraham, faith, and the blessing to all nations, which included the Gentiles. It also resulted in false teaching, a wrong understanding of the gospel, and wounded and confused believers who questioned their salvation. But note that memorizing, quoting, and referencing individual Scriptures is fine. Just remember that in context, verses like Philippians 4:13, which reads, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me," might have nothing to do with my striving to achieve the next stage of my potential. Instead, it might communicate that I need to learn to be content with my present discontentment and discover God's strength through my suffering. If you don't believe me, take a glance at the two preceding verses: "Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need." — Philippians 4:11-12.  Hopefully, you see how easy it is to misread the text by proof-texting and thus communicate a Gospel truth that is not a Gospel truth at all. So be cautious of what you believe and how you communicate it, as well as how you communicate what you believe. #FaithAlone #GalatiansInsights #ContextMatters #SalvationByFaith #AvoidProofTexting ASK THIS: How can we ensure that our interpretation of Scripture is rooted in its broader context rather than relying solely on proof-texting? In what ways can we apply the principle of seeking God's strength amidst our present circumstances, as highlighted in Philippians 4:11-13, to our daily lives? DO THIS: Read Scripture in context don't proof-text. PRAY THIS: Father, help me to approach Your Word with humility and discernment, seeking to understand its full context and applying its truths to my life with wisdom and clarity. Paul LawlerPastor Paul continues his series on Context this week as we explore Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” Is the true meaning of this verse simply about achieving personal goals, or is there a deeper and more meaningful message that God wants to teach through the life of the Apostle Paul?  Paul wrote these words from a Roman prison cell, facing possible execution, and yet he expresses contentment and a reliance on Christ's strength. How can we experience a deeper revelation of Jesus for ourselves and others when we go through persecution and suffering because of Christian convictions? Paul's contentment in difficult circumstances clarifies that it is not complacency. This verse should be understood as assurance that believers can do whatever God calls them to do, rather than using it as a blanket affirmation for personal desires. The power of Christ within believers surpasses any challenges they may face.

The meaning of Philippians 4:13 is often the opposite of what many people are teaching us that it means. It's not about being able to fix any problem. We are continuing our episode series called Twisted Scripture, and this is the third and final in our series.

We share how God used Philippians 4:13, to rescue Oliver Cromwell from an overwhelming depression at losing his son. We continue to explore the truth that God lives inside us, and wants to strengthen us from within, by infusing and satisfying our souls with His life and peace, this being the secret that Paul discovered for living a life of contentment. This is a life of faith, so we also discuss faith in God and the faith of God and the gift of faith.
