Oh ho ho well if it isn't probably the 4th or 5th time I've started an episode description out with “Oh ho ho”. It's weird because I do not talk like this in real life. I've probably never said those words in that order in my whole life. But there's something about putting pen to paper that really brings out my “silly side”. And if you like silly, you're gonna love this episode of YKS, which at its peak recorded over 3.2 SPS (sillies per second)! Now that's a lot of sillies! But today's Kickstarter campaigns are deadly serious: consider, for instance, a device that allows pets to go outside. What sinister mind…ah! Perish the thought. Tristan Williams cements his superchamp status this week...just in time to lose it to Chris D'Angelo, who begins a little run of his own after a fortuitous math error in Final works out in his favor. Also this week, we get a quintessential Canadian contestant we love, Ken puts in a very strong nominee for Ken's Korner of the Year, and we dive deep on Sputnik. Plus, "Quiz Lady" writer and producer Jen D'Angelo–who also happens to be Chris' sister–sends in a note about finally being able to watch her brother play on Jeopardy! after years of him trying and how he inspired the genesis of "Quiz Lady" in the first place. If you want more content from our very own "Quiz Lady" (that's Emily), why not donate to our Patreon? Anyway on today's show we're being asked to finance some rich guy's pet project for no apparent reason, begging an aspiring musician to not use AI, and handing over our most personal date to an unaccountable private database. Oh wait, is this REAL LIFE!!!? Or is it the show! Or is it just fantasy. Freddie Mercury! Nah it's just the show. But I wouldn't mind some Fat Bottomed Girls! Oh yeah! We walk through a real video structure and pull out the practical moves that create stakes, emotion and retention. • storytelling as the core YouTube growth skill • treating every video as a gift of time • context plus curiosity as a click formula • showing struggle and risk to build relatability • voiceover-driven structure for unscripted challenges • pattern interrupts through raw moments and pacing • using music cuts and silence to spotlight meaning • external want versus internal need for deeper arcs • opening and closing loops to guide attention • integrating sponsors as helpful characters in the story • reminding viewers of the why in long videos If you want to see some of the stuff that Dan's been working on, Deep Pocket Monster and everything will be linked in the description below.
It's Friday, and that means a Friday Feedback pod. Today some great questions and a number of whacks for the team...ouch....but we start the show with a Friday Feedback jingle, should we keep it or dump it? We'll whack a poll up on Twitter, whatever the Wolfpack say goes.Onto the feedback....Jonny reckons we missed a few obvious nicknames in our chat last week, a couple of 'animal inspired' ones, and Aussie golf legend Mike Harwood's nickname, Mark tells the story of how it came about and the fellow pro who christened him with it.John then points out one of Mark's old nicknames, which he thinks The Ox came up with - however it wasn't him, but another very famous AFL footballer, and Mark explains how it came about.Mathew has a question on Peninsula Kingswood. Then some whacks. Jerry has a crack at both Nick and Mark over one aspect of the show, and Steven has a go for pretty much the same reason.....do Nick and Mark cop the criticism or hit back ?Jeff then has a great story about a day out many years ago at The Australian Masters watching some big names on the range, and what he watched (and listened to them) doing.Craig heard us chatting last week about seagulls pinching golf balls and has a story about seeing a crow nudging a ball on a green in the UK and what happened.AFL superstar Matty Richardson chimed in on the video we shared last week of Bubba Watson critiquing his swing, and whilst talking footy, apparently Nick has been hanging around Mark's team Collingwood lately, and Mark is a little concerned about whether Nick might be giving them dodgy advice. Every chance.AB comes off a long run and gives Nick and Mark a whack about LIV, but not for the reasons you might think. Seed has a question about Greg Norman when he was playing and the crowds. And now onto the culinary section of Talk Birdie To Me: Burgo chimes in on Turkish Delights in Istanbul, and CK wants to respond to Marks comments and questions about the calibre of sushi in Australia vs Japan from last week, and Producer Dan has a comment from his brother Mike, who lives in Singapore and lived in Hong Kong for a decade, about Marks bold claim that Chinese food in Australia is better than in China. Also randomly Mark decides to share a Michael Jackson fact with us. No idea why. It was awkward. But whilst we were talking Japan it reminded us of the amazing opportunity that you have to win a golfing trip to Japan with Paul Sheehan from GolfLoot - join as a member, starts from about 12 or 13 bucks a month, there are a heap of regular prizes - and some huge ones, like the Japan trip! All the details at GolfLoot here.Mark has a great story about playing on the China Tour and getting into an awkward situation at a bar with Lucien Tinkler, and we hear why Mark turned down the opportunity to play for Australia and regrets it.Finally, a great question from Dylan about the calibre of handicaps and which is better. We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Hostplus, Talk Birdie To Me's official retirement partnerBMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; The Find My Player app - follow every player on every tour; And Southern Golf Club. It's Tristan Williams week on Jeopardy! as he gets himself a ToC invitation and much more, playing solidly across all 5 games this week. He gets a couple of close scares though, as we discuss a charming southern U.S.A. anecdote, the show seemingly taking a few shots at right wing America, and Ken introduces a game in a way we've never heard before. Plus, we dive deep on the Gutenberg Bible. If you want to feel pious and holy, perhaps do the most blessed thing and donate to our show on Patreon today! It's a Canadian week on Jeopardy! as a contestant from a small Ontario town near where John grew up gets blessed with a Final Jeopardy! category about Canadian music. We also get a a show first: a contestant and listener who purposely steered their anecdote to be about something we have professed our love for on our podcast. Elsewhere, Ken decides a specific contestant is his opp for some reason, we learn some horny gossip about a potentially rewritten category title, and we dive deep on Canadian hero Céline Dion. Jeopardy! proves that you don't have to be horny to mention a horse's "equipment", and quite frankly, we approach feeling horny ourselves for one of the best games in Jamie Ding's entire run, as him and Patrick Nolan have a fantastic back-and-forth in Thursday's game. We aren't on cocaine while recording this episode, but for some reason it comes up more than once, as Emily forgets to finish writing a recap joke about it, John remembers that he's seen the 2001 drug-dealer movie "Blow", and TaoTao brings a manic energy to the Alex Trebek stage. Listen to the show, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in Hell! Or perhaps we already are! On today's episode of YKS, recorded BEFORE Easter – so we won't be talking very much about Easter or describing our Easter festivities this year in any terms other than pure guesses and maybe some hopeful wishes about the holiday to come – the eggless docket serves us up some rather “hoppy” tales of entrepreneurship and creativity. It's another Jamie Ding week on Jeopardy! and that means another tough week for our show, as his dominance makes our jobs just that much more difficult. I wish I had come up with “Smart Beer”. That's such a funny idea. But some business dick beat me to it. I wonder if I'm losing my fastball. Oh, no, I guess I'm not, because my copy of All The Pain That Money Can Buy is right here on my CD shelf! I'd like to see some Wharton stiff come up with that. But they could never. They probably don't even know that Fastball frontman Tony Scalzo came up with the idea for the song after reading articles that described the June 1997 disappearance of an elderly married couple, Lela and Raymond Howard from Salado, Texas,[6] who left home to attend the Pioneer Day festival at nearby Temple, Texas, despite Lela's Alzheimer's disease and Raymond recently recovering from brain surgery. Now I'm just a simple country iced tea drinker, but it seems to me that if you want to drink iced tea, there are some crucial components to such a refreshing beverage. Oh actually nevermind that I'd rather talk about the soul food place I went to this week where a real bumpkin looking customer was asked “Are you a tea drinker?” and he got a free sample of the sweet tea. After hemming and hawing over the availability of sweet ‘n' low, he relented and the two men began talking about going to the chiropractor to fix their backs. The customer said he went once a week! John is out sick this week, so we are joined by TOC Champion and bona fide WIAJP patron Paolo Pasco! He helps us recap a fun week of games with a record breaking number of cuties + honorable mentions for response of the week. Plus, we get a deep dive on the Rainbow Coalition and we talk about Traitors and movies longer than John would ever allow on a normal episode. Some are saying he's the new John. Are they right?? If you want more of the OLD John, why not head on over to our Patreon to donate? You'll get immediate access to our entire back catalogue of bonus episodes, you'll get access to our amazing Discord, and you'll get the knowledge that you helped John and Emily and warmed our hearts. And speaking of John and Emily, last week, they reviewed the pilot of Cop Rock! How could you miss that? Join today at patreon.com/jeopardypodcast. (David Attenborough voice) Bitch…you live like this?? Recorded from Producer Dan's home studio in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, it's the return of YKS: No Plans Edition, in which we kind of just fumble around the website and get sidetracked by whatever else is going on! A Jeopardy! contestant answers a common question on the show with such speed that it becomes a Response of the Year contender as we get a bit of an up-and-down week on the show that features a little 3-game run for Quentian (as Emily spelled it in our show document) and a whole lot of gunslinging. Plus, J! fans want to see a celebrity join the show after Ken goes to a play, John gets a little punchy, and we dive deep on Rosebud and the world of movie prop auctions. If you want to see a lot of horrible TV prop work in action, why not join our Patreon? You can help support the show AND get access to our latest episode, where John and Emily review the pilot of "Cop Rock", the much-maligned, oft-forgotten police procedural/musical written by Steven Bochco back in 1990. Not every Apple Watch is trapped on the wrist…the new “It all starts with a shift”, or “Pets always can't make us stop hugging them”? Only time will tell. Hey everyone! Thanks for “March”ing into the episode haha. Well obviously I'm in a silly mood today, and when you hear about these Kickstarters, I think you'll know why! But for this one, you “Must Love Dogs”! Because two of them are about dogs. And I was just thinking about that movie I've never seen before. I'm not even sure who's in it. And I bet it sucks. The 2026 Jeopardy Invitational Tournament is in the bag, and with it, the conclusion to the extensive–and this year, very difficult–Jeopardy! postseason. I honestly can't believe it. These two old guys put out another podcast. And they do it basically every week! Now, it's not really about anything in particular. And it embarrasses them if you bring it up. Most people seem to use it to go to sleep. But like…wow! Lots of people don't do podcasts. And these guys did. At the end of the day, yeah, it sucks, but they still did it! Plus, a different guy did a lot of the work. But still. Pretty cool. There is good in this world…take my little robot vacuum, for instance. No, don't! I love him! But really though. He's just doing his thing. Sucking up dirt and wiping the floor and only driving through dog doo doo one time in his whole life and never again. Then he goes back to his hole and throws up the dirt and pees out the yucky water and falls asleep for 23 hours. In a way, isn't that what we all do? (Guy who is being driven insane by technology except it's his robovac and not an AI girlfriend): Yep. We are not so different, my vacuum and I. Not so different at all. That's right, one of our patrons, Paolo Pasco, has won the Tournament of Champions in dominant fashion, and so of course that means, in some small way, we won it too. We break down Paolo's fantastic performance and then we turn our attention to the JIT, which sees the immediate return of some of our faves. If Bubbles the Chimp were here today, I like to think he would say “Hey man, YKS is, like, my favorite podcast, dude!” And I just remembered that he is alive, but I guess I meant “here” in the sense of like, being right beside me. Which would frankly be terrifying. I don't want to be anywhere near a chimp. With all due respect to chimps, of course! They seem to have a lot to offer the world, and it's certainly difficult to deny their charms, but a safe distance is preferable as far as I'm concerned. Alright, the power's out and the heat's off. Mike said he was sick for this one. I don't know. He didn't seem sick to me. He seemed suspiciously at the top of his game. And thank goodness for that. Because we needed all his powers for this episode – one full of fun, mirth, and madness! And some Kickstarters as well. It's 2026…are we really still doing podcast episode descriptions? I mean, come on! It should be AI! Or it should be some guy on the other side of the world that we're just saying is AI. It should be at least that. UGH! Fine. I will write it. But it WON'T be good. On this episode of YKS there's a dog…uh, thing. Honestly this was recorded last month I don't remember what these were, save for one. I really really don't like the guy making the podcast about bringing people together. Well, I guess I should say I don't like the podcast, not that I don't like him. I don't know him. And actually I didn't really listen to the podcast, either, so that hardly seems fair. If I really think about it, what's causing me to have this reaction to him? Resentment…jealousy…just the way I was brought up? Gosh, I've never really thought about it. But now that I have, I have decided to change my mind. I'm now in favor of stupid fucking fake crap you put online for clout. And with that, enjoy this episode of Crap Shit Sucks: The AssCast.
