Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Kenzie: My mom recently got a colonoscopy and they found very large polyps. They removed them but said it's genetic. Any other cause of this? Root causes? Anonymous: Good Morning Dr. Cabral! As someone who travels alot and travels abroad sometimes, how do you travel with your supplements? I have an upcoming trip in May out of the country and am worried about Customs causing an issue about me packing my supplements (a 7-day vitamin pill tray with my daily vitamins, plus a bottle of Magnesium powder, and a bottle of protein powder). I really want to be able to feel my best and still prioritize my health while traveling. Do you have any advice or experience traveling internationally through Customs with your supplements? Pati: Hi Dr Cabral Back in 2021 I ended up getting Bells Palsy from extreme stress. To this day my face is not symmetrical as the muscles on my unaffected side are much stronger than my affected side and I'm assuming the nerve damage that probably won't repair at this point. I don't want to get Botox injections but was wondering what other suggestions you may have. I have tried acupuncture and different stretches but I did develop synkinesis which is causing asymmetry. I try to count my blessing but am having a hard time. I miss my smile and who I used to be before this. Do you have any suggestions for me as far as healing? I appreciate any advice. Grateful for all you do! Diane: Is there a way that I can get rid of rosacea? Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral- thank you for all the lives you are changing :). What is your opinion on a clean nut milk, used just in coffee? I know nuts and seeds oxidize when they are made into oils and I was wondering about your opinion on when they are turned into a "milk", specifically macadamia nut milk? I stay away from cows milk and almond milk since I am somewhat sensitive to them. Thank you again - have a wonderful day! In this episode of Grow a Small Business, host Michael Denehey talks with Laura Hindson from Madame Tiger. Laura shares insights on building a strong brand, balancing work and family, and fostering a sustainable company culture. With her business generating significant revenue and a growing team, she emphasizes the importance of hiring passionate people and leveraging a robust support network for success. Why would you wait any longer to start living the lifestyle you signed up for? Balance your health, wealth, relationships and business growth. And focus your time and energy and make the most of this year. Let's get into it by clicking here. Michael delves into our guest's startup journey, their perception of success, industry reconsideration, and the pivotal stress point during business expansion. They discuss the joys of small business growth, vital entrepreneurial habits, and strategies for team building, encompassing wins, blunders, and invaluable advice. And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? Laura Hindson believes the hardest thing in growing a small business is that "every problem is my problem." This encapsulates the challenge of being a business owner, where the responsibility for solving all issues ultimately falls on the owner's shoulders. What's your favourite business book that has helped you the most? Laura Hindson's favorite business book that has helped her the most is "How to Build a Billion Dollar Business" by Radek Sali. She found it incredibly helpful for its honest perspective on the highs and lows of building a successful business. Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Laura Hindson recommends "The Imperfects Podcast" by Hugh van Cuylenburg, known for The Resilience Project. While not strictly business-related, Hindson finds its focus on resilience valuable for small business owners, as resilience is crucial when facing challenges in entrepreneurship. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Laura Hindson recommends two essential tools for small businesses: Xero and Shopify. She finds Xero helpful for its accounting capabilities, simplifying financial management. Shopify, on the other hand, allows even those without web development skills to create and manage their online store, providing an easy-to-use platform for businesses. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? On day one of starting out in business, Laura Hindson would advise herself: "No matter how hard it gets, you'll make it." She emphasizes the importance of perseverance and resilience in facing the inevitable challenges of entrepreneurship, acknowledging that while the journey may be harder than anticipated, it's still worth pursuing. Brittany is going back to the roots with the healthiest flax-derived milk alternative.Brittany grew up on the beaches of Malibu, eating local produce and appreciating at a very young age that food is fuel. After graduating from Georgetown University and Le Cordon Bleu, Brittany trained at the three Michelin- starred Le Bernardin and The Food Network in New York, where she studied the finest techniques in the culinary world. After dealing with some health issues, Brittany went to see a functional medicine doctor, who put her on an auto-immune protocol with which she experienced great results, eg more energy, reduced inflammation, and improved focus and strength. She eliminated dairy, nuts, gluten and soy from her diet and was searching for a milk alternative, when the idea hit her: "What if I make milk from flaxseed?" Not only was the flax milk allergen-free, but it was a fantastic texture due to the fact that flax is a natural emulsifier. Malibu Mylk was born!Brittany wanted to share with the world this incredible product that helped her to feel her absolute best. After meeting with local buyers, Brittany launched Malibu Mylk in grocery stores in the LA area in January of 2019.ORDER YOUR MALIBU MYLK TODAY AND RECEIVE 10% OFF YOUR 1st ORDERUSING THIS CODE: stevejordanwww.malibumylk.comInstagram: @malibumylk

She introduces the team to a few pecan milk companies, including THIS PKN, Pecan Milk Co-op and MALK Organics, and discusses each of their unique selling points. The team wonders whether the taste would be too strong and whether pecan milk will experience a breakthrough akin to oat milk. Also, in this episode, Mira talks about Cadbury's latest innovation: a vegan version of its iconic Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar. Rather than using cow's milk to create the creaminess of the product, the vegan chocolate is made with almond paste as a vegan substitute. Mira wonders whether vegan versions of famous confectionary products are marketed toward vegans, or whether brands are also thinking of flexitarians and non-vegans. The team wonders how closely the vegan Cadbury Dairy Milk bar resembles the original and whether Cadbury will introduce other vegan versions of its products. This week on Beer Sessions Radio, Jimmy is learning all about Dogfish Head. On the show is Sam and Mariah Calagione, Co-founders of Dogfish Head in Milton, DE and Andrew Greeley, Inn Keeper at Dogfish Inn in Lewes, Delaware. Jimmy takes it back to highlighting the core of Dogfish, starting with the origin of the 60-minute IPA. Andrew then tells us how he got his start running the Dogfish Inn, and Mariah introduces us to what Dogfish calls “beer and benevolence.” As a leader in creativity, Andrew reflects on incorporating unconventional ingredients into beer, such as oat milk and even bird seed. Keeping up with supply is a big challenge, so Jimmy asks of instances when Dogfish has ever had to improvise. The early days seemed full of improvising and learning on the job, and Mariah tells us some fun, but definitely stressful stories. Andrew then lets us in on what its like participating in a Dogfish staff brewing competition, and his team's beer creation using...snails! The gang also answers a couple surprise questions from Ben Keene and talk black limes, monk fruit, super gose beer, and low-calorie drinking. Jimmy then asks if there's anything more they can do to shock beer drinkers, and Andrew reflects on push and pull between boundaries and shock value. Finally, Jimmy wraps by highlighting the book coming soon from Dogfish Head.Drinks List: Hazy-O IPA 60-minute IPA Slightly Mighty lo- cal IPA Sea Quench AlePhoto Courtesy of Mariah CalagioneHeritage Radio Network is a listener supported nonprofit podcast network. When asked why he chose the midst of World War II to establish the Vegan Society, founder Donald Watson answered, “Can time ever be ripe for any reform unless it is ripened by human determination? Did Wilberforce wait for the ‘ripening' of time before he commenced his fight against slavery? ... There is an obvious danger in leaving the fulfilment of our ideals to posterity, for posterity may not have our ideals. Evolution can be retrogressive as well as progressive, indeed there seems always to be a strong gravitation the wrong way unless existing standards are guarded and new visions honoured.”If you have any questions or comments about the information provided in this episode, please contact us at thehistoryof365@gmail.com.Click to donate here. Please check out our Instagram here.Resources:Vegan Society Basic HistoryVegan Society Extensive HistoryTranscript of George D. Does Nut Milk Break A Fast Nut milks are a great substitute for dairy products, if you have a problem digesting dairy. I have a genetic problem with cow dairy products myself. I don’t get mucous, I just feel really strange. It affects my hormones. Having said that, I seem to do fine with goat and sheep cheese. So it’s an individual thing. But if you already know you can’t or don’t want to have dairy, then nut milks are a great substitute. Question is, do they break a fast? There are two ways of looking at breaking a fast. Technical approach: If you take in anything that changes your insulin levels, even a tiny amount, like when you eat a meal, you are breaking the fast. Real World: If you take in something that has a bit of nutritional content, like coffee with a little cream, it probably doesn’t have an impact on your fasting state. Your body will usually take care of it and carry on. When you are answering the question, does nut milk break a fast, carbs are by far the main foe in the situation. Fats don’t spike the insulin levels much at all. Therefore, small amounts are a good trade off. Coffee or tea with a little of these alternatives can give you a needed boost. If you have to choose between staying on the fast with a small boost, or going off the fast because you have no energy, take the boost. Let’s go through the different alternative milks. These are all UNSWEETENED, obviously. In 8 ounces or 225 ml... Almond Milk. 1 gram carb. Whole Cow Milk 12 grams carb. Soy Milk 4 grams carb. Coconut Milk 2 grams carb. Rice Milk 22 grams! (or you could drink sugar). As you can see, the Almond milk and Coconut milks are the best by far. I don’t recommend Soy milk at all. It changes your hormonal balance. It can cause all sorts of problems. Almond and coconut milk have half the carbs anyway, so try to go with them. Remember, any drink with any kind of added sugar is OUT. Honey, Maple syrup, Agave, all NO NO’s. Those are all different names for sugar. The body doesn’t differentiate. It just sees sugar. Does nut milk break a fast? Don’t worry so much about a small amount of cream, almond, or coconut milk in your coffee or tea if you are fasting. Everything in moderation. This episode is super casual and chatty- we caught up on what we did for the new year, our travel experiences, and the novel coronavirus that is spreading as we speak. Our main wellness trend in this episode is yoga and nut milk. We answered so many questions through our conversation; What does it mean when you cry when you're practicing yoga? How and why yoga can be dangerous for you? Why nut milk isn't really milk? Is nut milk really better for the environment? Is it even healthy? Should you be feeding your children nut milk? OK, so here's the thing about nut milk. Apparently Louisiana dairy producers are ticked off and powerful enough to get the legislature to outlaw anyone calling or labeling anything as "milk" that doesn't come from a cow. No bull. That's going to be the law. And that's according to one of the State's most connected journalists, Stephanie Grace. Stephanie Grace was a columnist for the Times Picayune before quitting and moving to The Advocate, only to end up at The Advocate again now that they have bought the Times Picayune and become a brand name with a "|" in it - a vertical line that's been hiding on your keyboard for years and is under-utliized in daily parlance, for good reason. Nonetheless, Stephanie gets paid for calling bullsh!t on Louisiana politicians, a job with enormous security. OK, the paper is officially called The Times Picayune | New Orleans Advocate. Talking of long life, Paul Tuennerman says an insurance actuarial guy told him he's going to live till he's 92. Paul totally believes this and lives his life accordingly, wantonly eating hotdogs and creating dishes like charbroiled sh!tty sticky buns with high-end ice cream, which you're going to be able to order at a Dat Dog near you. Paul is actually the CEO of Dat Dog and he does sh!t like dream up stoner desserts for a living. Hey! Meet The Bummers! Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let’s get started! Sylvia: Hi Dr. Cabral! Lately I've been hearing a lot about glyconutrients. What are your thoughts about them? Have you ever done any research in that field? Thank you! Sylvia Oliver: Hello my name is Oliver. I am making contact on behalf of our daughter Kiara who is a sophomore at college. Kiara has long been struggling with constipation and related digestive issues. She also had acne for which she took accutane two years ago. This past summer she did a digestive detox type program. But at the end of the summer, in August, she started with an acne like outbreak. Around the same time she started complaining about brain fog. She did take an antibiotic treatment when her outbreak was deemed not to be acne. The outbreak has continued, and so has the brain fog. She has been going to a Healing Center in Boston but the remedies circled around controlling her digestion, with varied success. So it was recommended she contact you for a holistic view of all these issues. Christine: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have been suffering from inflammation, redness, burning sensation, recession, throbbing and bleeding/sensitivity of my gums as well as bone loss in my jaw for the last 2-3 years. I have been to periodontists, dentists, doctors and natural paths with no relief. Info about me: -Vata 5'11" 135 lbs cold hands and feet -Stressed -Had the mirena 1.2 years and just stopped taking oral birth control (Sprintec) -Floaters in my eyes -Hair loss -Hypothyroid Tests: (1) Free T3 (PAN231) Free T3 2.97 pg/mL 2.00-4.40 Tests: (2) Free T4 (PAN14) Free T4 [L] 0.74 ng/dL 0.90-1.70 Tests: (3) TSH (PAN15) TSH 1.40 uIU/mL 0.40-5.00 -Vertical lines in nails -TMJ -I was on a low carb diet for 6 months with no fruit trying to eliminate inflammation with a natural path -I have very good oral hygiene and have listened to all of your podcasts about gums etc. -Exposed to heavy metals at work a few years ago in an mfg environment and burned my lungs. -Went to Mexico and got sick about 2 years ago. The gum burning, recession and bone loss are my main concern but I want to get to the root cause. I have started the detox, got the daily protocol to start after and will be doing the candida overgrowth and heavy metal detox protocols as well. I have also started taking shatavari and am looking into chaste tree berry. What tests do you recommend I take and is there anything else I should be doing? Possible parasite? Hormone imbalance? Not sure what to do. Love your podcast thank you so much for doing what you do. Your podcasts are so informative! -Christine Joseph: Just started listening to the podcast, would like to inquire what you think the best option to deal with EOE. Eosinophilic esopaghitis I have had alergy tests and avoid Soy / Glutten / Milk , nothing works. Wondering if it could be parasites, to be honest I'm at a loss and am considering an elemental diet so I don't have to worry anymore. Chloe: Hi Dr Cabral, me again. Curious about Bioresonance therapy. There is a guy in Perth (Western Australia) that uses frequency work to overcome dis-ease symptoms. I have a friend who claims she got rid of her Candida with this method. It kinda seems to good to be true. I would love to know your thoughts. Sami: Hi Dr Cabral love your podcasts! I have a few questions related to kiddos and would love more talks on kids in general. My first question is what do you recommend for a teething baby? I’m trying to avoid Tylenol/ib profen but for sleepless nights what’s best? Also- in regards to kids snacks I know fruits/veggies are always best, but when they are around other kids they want what the other kids have or when fruits/veggies aren’t an option what do you suggest? Any dry snacks your kids ate that are still relatively healthy? For snacks, I often have trouble finding GF and organic so if I had to chose one, which is more important? Last question- my daughter has a severe dairy allergy (not intolerance/sensitivity) and I’m looking for a good plant based “milk” for her. What do you suggest? Thanks a million for your help and for sharing your vast wealth of knowledge! Yes, she does! Elle Macpherson woke up a few years ago and realized she needed to update her wellness routine. "I said, 'I’m doing what I’ve always done and its not working anymore,'" she recalled. "When I think about that, I'm like 'Duh!'" The revelation led to the founding of WelleCo, a wellness brand specializing in plant-based elixirs packed with vitamins and nutrients. Did you know we are in overshoot? What does that mean, and what should we do about it? Also in this episode, which has a smaller footprint – milk, or milk alternatives like almond milk? Carrying reusable utensils and napkin on your travels. And choosing carefully the trash can in which to deposit your refuse. August 1, 2018 is Earth Overshoot Day. Data collected and analyzed by the Global Footprint Network tells us this is the date when humanity’s annual demand on nature begins to exceed what Earth’s ecosystems can regenerate in the entire year. If it falls anytime before December 31, it means we’re using more ecological resources and services than nature can regenerate - through activity like overfishing, overharvesting forests, and emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than ecosystems can absorb. According to Global Footprint Network’s co-founder, Mathis Wackernagel, “Our current economies are running a Ponzi scheme with our planet…. We are borrowing the Earth’s future resources to operate our economies in the present. Like any Ponzi scheme, this works for some time. But as nations, companies, or households dig themselves deeper and deeper into debt, they eventually fall apart.” Dana and Dave interview random people to find out: Are they aware of Earth Overshoot Day? Do they know we’re in overshoot and what that is? What are their ideas for delaying the date? Check out our Overshoot Day interview video here.
