Welcome to Episode 37 of That Greenwich Life! This week, we're shifting gears and diving into something we all need more of—humor. Because let's be real, life is chaotic, motherhood is exhausting, and the only way to survive it all is to laugh through the madness. Joining me is Megan Schinella, the creator behind one of my favorite Instagram accounts - @meganschinella, where she shares hilarious and oh-so-relatable takes on parenting, social media, and the absurdity of everyday life. Megan's content is the perfect reminder that we don't have to take it all so seriously—and that humor can be one of our greatest tools for getting through tough times. This episode is for anyone who needs a break from the stress, a good laugh, and a reminder that we're all just figuring it out as we go. We talk about everything from raising teens - and their Sephora obsessions - to how social media can be a double-edged sword when it comes to validation and creativity. Megan also shares the incredible story of how Spencer Pratt (yes, Spencer and Heidi from The Hills) ended up collaborating on one of her reels. In This Episode:• Why humor is the best survival tool for motherhood, stress, and everything in between.• The hilarious reality of social media, validation, and dealing with internet trolls.• How embracing imperfection can make life (and parenting) so much more fun. A big shoutout to our amazing sponsors who make this show possible:Room For Paws Pet Resort in Stamford, CT, for taking such great care of our furry family members. January was such an incredible month, and we're kicking off February with a solo episode that dives deep into self-discovery, personal growth, and a more focused mission for this show. I've been thinking a lot about what truly matters—not just for this podcast, but in my own life. Over the past year, I've navigated some big personal revelations, reevaluated what brings me joy, and made a conscious decision to create a space right here that fosters connection, healing, and authenticity. We don't always have to have everything figured out, and I'm working on giving myself permission to keep things messy and always evolving – with a mindset of “we'll see” – and I invite you to do the same. I played around with the show intro to make sure it really captured the essence of the show - and me, your host. I'm not totally there yet but will keep working on it! In this episode:• Reflections on our Five-Part January 2025 Glow-Up Series and how it's setting the tone for the year ahead.• A behind-the-scenes look at why I updated the show's teaser and trailer—what I've learned about myself and how I want this space to evolve.• Why I didn't turn this into a Greenwich gossip show (despite the temptation) and how my past as a celebrity reporter shaped that decision.• The personal struggles that redefined my perspective—from infertility and pregnancy loss to rebuilding a life that truly aligns with who I am.• The transformative power of the phrase “We'll see”—why it can change the way you approach life's challenges and uncertainties.• A beautiful quote from Yung Pueblo that perfectly captures the heart of this podcast and the kind of energy I want to cultivate. This episode is all about stepping into alignment, letting go of what no longer serves us, and embracing the journey—even when we don't have all the answers. We're adding a little extra content to help you get over the Sunday Scaries! They say if you’re a single guy, the best way to meet a woman is to get a DOG! By the time Sam Apple pulled up with his goldendoodle, Steve, to their resting place, he was tired from the long drive and already second-guessing his plan. He felt a little better when they stepped inside the Dogwood Acres Pet Retreat. The lobby, with its elegant tiled entrance, might have passed for the lobby of any small countryside hotel, at least one that strongly favored dog-themed decor. But this illusion was broken when the receptionist reviewed their reservation — which, in addition to their luxury suite, included cuddle time, group play, a nature walk and a “belly rub tuck-in.”Venues like this one, on Kent Island in Maryland's Chesapeake Bay, didn't exist when Apple was growing up in the 1980s. If you needed a place to board your dog back then, you went to a kennel, where your dog spent virtually the entire day in a small — and probably not very clean — cage. There were no tuck-ins, no bedtime stories, no dog-bone-shaped swimming pools. There was certainly nothing like today's most upscale canine resorts, where the dogs sleep on queen-size beds and the spa offerings include mud baths and blueberry facials; one pet-hotel franchise on the West Coast will even pick up your dog in a Lamborghini. Apple knew Dogwood Acres wouldn't be quite as luxurious as that, but the accommodations still sounded pretty nice. So he decided to check his dog in, and to tag along for the journey. In this episode of In The Vet's Office, Dr. Isabella Stepanovic, a veterinarian friend of Dr. Josie joins the podcast with her Goldendoodle named Monkey. Dr. Isabella takes over this week's Case of the Week segment, summarizing many crazy things she has seen in practice at her ER Vet clinic, including a dog with severe burns that had fallen out of the bed of its owner's truck and had unfortunately been dragged behind the vehicle. Dr. Josie & Dr. Isabella take listener calls and give their feedback on how often to bathe your pets and explain reverse sneezing and whether it is cause for concern. They discuss in depth which vaccines your pet should definitely receive (like rabies, distemper/parvo) and which vaccines are more circumstantial. Dr. Isabella shares a story of a dog that came into her office having seizures, which is normal for her to see, but the dog didn't respond to meds and passed away. It turned out that the dog was infected with rabies and everyone that had been in contact with the animal had to go through intense rabies treatment. They discuss zoonotic illnesses - meaning diseases that animals can pass to humans, like rabies, if they are not properly vaccinated. Dr. Josie & Dr. Isabella touch on the importance of flea, tick and heart worm treatment and dispute the myth that garlic is a home remedy for tick prevention. They wrap up the episode with PAW & ORDER where Dr. Josie details things she'd never do with her own pets including declawing cats. She and Dr. Isabella talk through how intense that procedure is and the complications that can come from it. If you liked this episode, please leave a rating & subscribe! Josh grew up in Chester, Virginia, about 20 minutes south of Richmond off I-95. Sports and competition made a big impact in his early years. After being All-State in two sports, he accepted a football scholarship to play Linebacker at Shippensburg University. He still holds the career solo tackles record from starting all 4 years. Josh's first job in hospitality was as a server and barback at Bottoms Up Pizza in Richmond, Va. Prior to PourMyBeer, he worked in Business Development with Modis, a publically traded IT Staffing Firm. He was hired to develop the Baltimore Metro market for the company. Landing several blue-chip accounts took that market from non-existent to a top producer in a matter of 24 months. One day in 2009, he decided he wanted to take a 95% pay cut, quit his job where he played golf 3 days a week, and invest his entire life savings in building a self-pour company. Yadda, yadda, yadda, here we are today after 3 significant chapters in business and life. To get the full story go to TapTheBigIdea.com His wife, Janette (Pieczynski) Goodman, is in the Shippensburg University Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, holds the school record for career steals (not including Josh's heart), and is a Marketing Director for Astellas Pharmaceuticals. They have 2 children, Tyler and Brianna, and live in Harleysville, Pa (30 minutes north of Philadelphia) with their Goldendoodle, Belle, and their bearded dragon Coco. Outside of PourMyBeer, Josh enjoys biking, snowboarding, basketball, pickleball, cornhole, grilling, hazy IPAs, and singing 90's hip hop in his car by himself. Follow Travis on:– IG

His producer and on-air collaborator at the time was Al Dukes. On January 3, 2006, Booker's "new" radio show (carrying over many of the same elements and players as his afternoon drive rock show) titled The Booker Show debuted from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The show aired on Monday-Thursday, and 7-10 p.m. on Fridays at WFNY-FM (92.3 Free-FM).On May 23, 2008, Booker was fired as the morning show host on "Q102" in Philly (but was still considered an employee of "Q102", due to contractual reasons).Booker has worked as a correspondent for TV Guide Channel covering red carpet events. This week on Rational Security, Alan and Quinta were joined again by Lawfare Managing Editor Tyler McBrien and Lawfare Foreign Policy Editor Daniel Byman—also of Georgetown University and the Center for Strategic and International Studies— to talk over the week's national security news, including:“Terror in Moscow.” On Friday, March 22, a group of gunmen unleashed an attack on a concert hall outside Moscow that killed over 130 people, shooting into a crowd of concertgoers before setting the hall on fire. The Islamic State in Khorasan, the Afghanistan branch of ISIS known as ISIS-K, quickly claimed credit for the attack, and Russian authorities have arrested four suspects. The Kremlin, without evidence, has also continued to hint that Ukraine is somehow responsible. What does the attack tell us about ISIS-K, and what does it mean for the Russian government?“April, Come She Will.” After a brief delay, Donald Trump's hush money trial in Manhattan has been scheduled to begin on April 15—the first of Trump's criminal cases to go to trial. Meanwhile, a New York appeals court threw Trump a lifeline, reducing his appeal bond in the civil fraud case against him from half a billion dollars to $175 million. Will ol' Donny Trump be able to wriggle out of this jam once again?“Come On, Aileen.” Judge Aileen Cannon is at it again down in Fort Pierce, Florida. As she presides over Trump's classified documents case, motions are piling up on her desk without any sign of a ruling, and she issued a strange, convoluted order instructing both parties to “engage with” potential jury instructions reflecting unusual readings of the Presidential Records Act in relation to the Espionage Act. Just what is Judge Cannon doing? And how, if at all, can Jack Smith respond? For object lessons, Alan endorsed the podcast “Next Year in Moscow,” on Russians living in exile who departed their country after the beginning of Putin's war with Ukraine. Tyler sang the praises of Waxahatchee's new album “Tigers Blood.” And Quinta recommended a reflection on Baltimore's collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/lawfare. Remember that these people depend on you to set a good example for what this business is and to not be an absent business owner. You can't be involved as, as a leader, as a manager, as an owner of business. If you're not physically present. If you don't understand what your staff is doing, you have to know that job as well as they know it, to be able to manage them. If you don't know it, you need to hire someone to manage them, who does
This week, Alan and Quinta were joined again by Lawfare Managing Editor Tyler McBrien and Lawfare Foreign Policy Editor Daniel Byman—also of Georgetown University and the Center for Strategic and International Studies— to talk over the week's national security news, including:“Terror in Moscow.” On Friday, March 22, a group of gunmen unleashed an attack on a concert hall outside Moscow that killed over 130 people, shooting into a crowd of concertgoers before setting the hall on fire. Tyler sang the praises of Waxahatchee's new album “Tigers Blood.” And Quinta recommended a reflection on Baltimore's collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge. Hosted on Acast.

How exactly do events make a lasting impact? Do great events have to be big and extravagant? During today's conversation on Back Porch Theology we're going to explore one of my favorite pastimes, which is gathering around a table with a group of dear friends, sharing a great meal, and talking until the cows come home or someone starts flicking the lights! All too often meals in our post-post-modern culture are harried affairs that involve more staring at phone screens than looking at and listening to each other. Or else we're gobbling fast food in the car while juggling a business call on Bluetooth. But gathering and eating and talking around the table was highly valued during the incarnate ministry of Jesus Christ. Table fellowship was the centerpiece of first century culture and community in the Ancient Near East. In his book, Tell It Slant, author and theologian, the late great Dr. Eugene Peterson, puts it like this: Jesus taught in the synagogues and preached in the temple, but settings of hospitality seemed to be Jesus' venue of choice for dealing with kingdom matters. Case in point, one of the most beloved stories in the gospels – the feeding of the five thousand – revolves around a massive fish and chips miracle; the jaw-dropping salvation of a wee little man named Zacchaeus took place when Jesus invited Himself to Zach's house for lunch; and the poignant scene where a profoundly grateful woman washed His feet with her tears, dried them with her hair, and anointed them with oil from her alabaster box took place during a dinner party. Gathering around a table is often a harbinger for healing in the four gospel accounts. If you enjoy sharing a great meal with great friends – today's episode is going to fit you like a glove. More importantly, if you ache to be welcomed to a meal with a group of folk who treat you like a friend, we pray Holy Spirit uses the next forty-five minutes or so to remind you that you always have a seat at God's table. And His invitation isn't simply to share a meal, y'all - it's to move in and find your home in His unconditional love. So please grab a cup of coffee and your Bible – unless you're picking burrs out of your naughty Goldendoodle puppy's fur, of course – and come hang out on the porch with Ally, Dr. Howard, Belle and me.
