Michael and Dustin open the show with some shout-outs to the most ubiquitous sponsors of podcasts. They spend a bit of time discussing their favorite Youtube personalities and the impact of rolling shutter on handheld filming and why Aputure makes some of the best lights for the money. After some more chit chat about YouTube personalities you should definitely check out… they slam the titles that said YouTubers give their videos. Michael and Dustin zero in on one YouTuber who is challenging RED Digital Cinema on the quality of their products and why RED is way overpriced. Dustin then gives major props to another YouTuber with a show about drinking and one named Daniel Schiffer, who really makes some incredible videos with handheld shots. They then turn the conversation towards whether it makes sense to give away all your filming secrets for free. The guys take a break to talk abut Dustin’s glasses that he bought from Warby Parker, and their thinning hairlines. After that, they move on to more pressing topics… like how Dustin allocates his time during an edit. They wrap the show by talking about Dustin’s real calling. It's in that little bit extra that greatness is made. Edited by: @benlionelscott Spoken by: Andy Frisella Footage by: Nikon Europe, Red Bull, Free People, CanonUSA, Mark Toia, Castelli Cycling, Northpass Media, RED Digital Cinema, Reebok, Nike, The CrossFit Games, Adidas Music: Audiomachine - Ninurta ㅤ ... So many people go through their whole lives leaving things up to chance. they go 50, 60, 75% of the way to job well done, and they leave the rest up to somebody else. That is loser mentality. You have to understand how important it is to go all the way, to go the extra mile. To do things in such a way that it forces people to take note of you. Winners go so far and above and beyond what is actually expected, that they force the result. And what keeps you from getting to that spot, is your inability to recognize that you are in control of that last 25%, you are in control of putting so much effort into something that people have to notice. You have to go that far, you have to force their eyeballs on you, you have to make people say, "Well f*ck, that guy's definitely the right guy for the job, look how much better he is than everybody else." What we're talking about here is the extra set in the gym. What we're talking about here is the extra 10 minutes of cardio. What we're talking about here is you making sure that you leave your workspace spotless. That you don't even not just leave your workspace spotless, that you clean everybody else's f*cking workspace. That's what we're talking about. That's taking control. That is not leaving things up to chance. This is a skill, this is not something you're gifted with, this is something you learn, this is something you practice, an eventually yes, it does become a habit. But it's not one that people automatically have. You have to go the extra mile. You have to go all in. You have to quit leaving things up to chance if you wanna win. Winners do not leave things to chance, they do every f*cking thing that they possibly can, every single time, every single day to win. They understand the last 20% is what separates them from everybody else. It's what separates you from where you want to be. It's the last 20%, it's accepting that you're in control and you're gonna do everything in your power to win.

Episode 32 - In this episode Chris Fenwick and I talk with employee #1 of RED Digital Cinema: Ted Schilowitz. Ted talks with us about the Scarlet and EPIC cameras from RED. What is variable HDR - an intriguing feature recently announced for EPIC - promising over 13 stops dynamic range? Will variable HDR be available for Scarlet? When will Scarlet ship? What is RED's position on the HDSLR video revolution? Where can HDSLR photographers learn more about shooting with RED? Why should cinematographers care about 4K? How does Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premeire Pro CS5 workflow compare for RED footage? Chris and I also share listener questions with Ted. A great episode! Ted was a fine guest and we are going to be inviting him back soon to dig into more details about EPIC and Scarlet. Just not enough time in one episode to talk about all the great things the RED team is doing.
