On this Episode of the BackCountry Pa Podcast, Cody chats with Tim Palmer who was a guest for the Whitetail Scouting series (Ep.149) This episode we talk about how Tim season went. He started out making his Friends and his Family a Priority and filming/helping them in fro the majority of the time without even taking a bow out with him. We break that down and why he felt like he needed to kind of take a step back and start enjoying it again, which lead to him having more fun and enjoying the little things. We also talk about his Pennsylvania buck he got down in the early season, why he was successful in this hunt and how previous years intel helped him get set up in the right area to have a shot at this Buck. Once he punched his Pennsylvania Buck tag he decided to take a "Quick" trip out to Ohio to hit some public land with one of his buddies, which lead to him being able to punch his Ohio Buck tag in less then 24 hours! Tim is an amazing dude and a guy that will put others before himself, I personally can't wait to hit the woods with him and see what else he has in store for this year! We really hope you enjoy this episode & are having a great season chasing after whitetails! Discount Codes Use Code: BackcountryPA15 save 15% at XOP Use Code: BCPA save 15% at Our Grounds Coffee Co. Do you think your employees aren't going the extra mile for you? In this episode, Andrea explores the data behind employee effort and talks about how you, as a leader can employ, engage and retain employees who are willing to go the extra mile for you. Andrea also talks about the SDT theory and how this can help influence and drive behaviours within your business. KEY TAKEAWAYS Focus on your employee's individual motivations. If you can discover what they intrinsically value, you can engage and motivate them. The SDT theory proposes that people have three basic psychological needs, autonomy, competency and relatedness. When these needs are satisfied employees are engaged and more likely to go the extra mile. To drive autonomy you have to let employees decide how they make an impact and allow them to talk openly and make decisions. Foster an environment where everyone is there to grow and be developed, this will create a culture of competence. Constructive feedback, opportunities for employees to build skills and recognising and celebrating their achievements will create an environment of competence. Relatedness is potentially one of the biggest mistakes leaders make. Creating a sense of belonging and connectedness by fostering positive relationships, teamwork and collaboration cannot be underestimated. BEST MOMENTS “Doing more of the same as a leader is not going to be effective” “If people don't go the extra mile, it means they aren't happy to do more action than they are already doing” “Offer employees real choices and opportunities to make decisions” “It's like we are at school, but in a good way” “You're going to drive motivation to another level” “Relatedness is critical because once you get really related to people everything changes and the magic happens and you see people working better together” VALUABLE RESOURCES Like the show? Scripture: Matthew 5:38-48 Speaker: Scott Meyer, Scott Seela Summary: In this message, Scott explores this text in Matthew that reveals a radical concept for the people of his time on earth. This radical message is one for us today. That message is that when it comes to serving others the minimum is not our goal as followers of Jesus. Rather, what Jesus would have us do is go beyond that and "Go the Extra Mile."

Whew! I've shared that I'm speaking at a conference this week in Chicago. It's an AMAZING event. The hosts and sponsors are incredible! The participants are sooooo fun and hungry! But... organizers were thrown a curve ball! Their closing speaker was unexpectedly rushed to the hospital... so they couldn't perform. And this is why I always want you to be prepared! Be prepared to go the extra mile. And as you do that... you can make even more impact... and be seen as the resource that you are. And... like I like to say... you can be a blessing AND be blessed in the process. I share the full version of the story in the episode... but as I type this... I just received a text from our key event planner and it simply reads, "You are my HERO!!! THANKS!" How fun is THAT? Be prepared... and you can be that hero when it's needed! Amen? Derrick Williams is known in our community as someone who always celebrates people's accomplishments on social media.Derrick started running during the pandemic running in his backyard to music. The transition from football to running was different for Derrick in terms of stretching, mentality, and being a solo sport. The two highlighted the supportive and sharing nature of the running community and how runners are always willing to try new gear and share their experiences with others. In addition to running, Derrick also cross-trains at the gym and focuses on strength training with his background in football, which has influenced his strength training regimen, which he has been following for over 20 years. Derrick believes in the importance of strength training for runners and how it contributes to longevity in the sport. He values the running community and finds it to be supportive and encouraging, making the journey more fun and enjoyable. When it comes to running, Derrick doesn't have a specific mantra but just tells himself to keep going when things get tough. He has adopted the phrase "Go the extra mile. It's never crowded," as a way to push himself in all areas of life. Have you ever considered what would've happened if Paul and Silas had fled with all the other prisoners when the prison was shaken? Because they stayed (i.e., “went the second mile”), God was able to save the prison guard and his entire household! Going the second mile creates an opportunity for God to meet a need in the life of our enemies. As you reflect on this command, it is key to understand that God desires to use us as channels to minister His life to our enemies. How amazing it is that as we lay our lives down to the Lord, He is able to replace our attitudes of selfishness and self-protection with the life of His Son! Only through Him is it possible to overcome evil with good.Want to go deeper in studying this command of Christ? God desires to “grow us up” - His will is to mature us so that we grow beyond our natural response to offenses. One of the first steps is that we allow Him to change our mind and give us a new perspective on offenses.
