Most speakers show up, deliver their talk, and leave. They're competent but forgettable. Exceptional speakers ask one question: "What else can I do to serve this audience and this organization?" That question is what separates a good speaking career from a great one. In this episode, Peter shares six practical ways to go the extra mile—from offering a bonus session and creating pre-event engagement videos, to following up personally and offering unexpected resources. Small acts of thoughtfulness create raving fans, repeat bookings, and a reputation that grows because people talk about how you exceeded expectations. • PeterGeorgePublicSpeaking.com • The Captivating Public Speaker on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJ8HRPWC

When a critical pump fails at a customer's busiest site just days before Christmas - and the people who need to fix it are all on annual leave - what happens next?In this episode of Our People Podcast from Veolia, we head north of the border to hear a brilliant story of remote collaboration, calm decision-making and trusted teamwork under real pressure.Stewart McKenzie, Business Development Lead for Building Energy Services North, takes the call while driving south on holiday. Ryan McGuinness, Pump Centre Supervisor at Hatton Waste Water Treatment Works, is also off. The customer? A drinks manufacturer facing a complete production shutdown in their peak week. The clock is ticking. What follows is a masterclass in how great teams operate when it matters most - coordinating across distance, communicating clearly under pressure, and backing each other to get the job done. From workshop to van to site, with a few unexpected technical challenges thrown in along the way.Stewart and Ryan also reflect on what this moment meant for the wider customer relationship - and why working with customers, not just for them, opens doors.
Right then... How far would you go for a job? This week we're diving into some seriously ambitious projects in the trades - the kind that go above and beyond, not just for the client, but for the planet too.
Hunger is the internal drive that pushes someone to do more than what's required. Hungry team players take initiative, pursue improvement, and constantly look for ways to help the team succeed. They aren't satisfied with doing the bare minimum—they want to contribute, grow, and create momentum. You Got This, Ryan

What's My Extra Mile? | Go The Extra Mile | Pastor Nathan Grams by Emmanuel Christian Center
Go the Extra Mile Pt. 2 | Paul Hurckman by Emmanuel Christian Center
Go the Extra Mile Pt. 1 | Go the Extra Mile | Dr. Nate Ruch by Emmanuel Christian Center
In this sobering and soul-searching message, Pastor Karl dives deep into Matthew 5:17–48, where Jesus declares that He came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it—and then raises the bar of righteousness far beyond anything the scribes and Pharisees ever imagined.Through six piercing examples—anger that murders the heart, lust that commits adultery in the mind, casual divorce, manipulative oaths, retaliation, and hatred disguised as justice—Jesus exposes the truth we all try to avoid: outward obedience is never enough. God judges the heart. Every single one of us stands guilty before His perfect standard.Yet the bad news is meant to drive us to the best news. Pastor Karl powerfully unpacks how Jesus' command in verse 48—“You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect”—is not a cruel impossible demand, but the very reason the Son of God came. We cannot achieve the righteousness God requires, so God freely gives it to us through faith in Christ. Jesus took our unrighteousness and imputes His perfect righteousness to all who repent and trust Him.A hard-hitting, heart-exposing sermon that leaves no room for self-righteousness, but ends with the liberating joy of the gospel: guilty sinners can be clothed in the very righteousness of God and stand before Him as if we had never sinned. Matthew 5:38-48 | Josh Miller
Jesus teaches: “Should anyone press you into service for one mile,* go with him for two miles” [Matthew 5:41]. When Jesus spoke these words, the country was under Roman occupation, and the law allowed Roman soldiers to compel Jewish civilians to carry their luggage or heavy armour for one Roman mile – about 1.45 kilometres. After carrying the luggage for one mile, the unlucky civilian could legally drop the load and refuse to carry it further. Jesus was alluding to this Roman practice. Going the extra mile is a firm commitment and willingness to do more than one is required to do. Terry Lees investigates what is required of us in this present day, when we too are called to go the extra mile.

On this Episode of the BackCountry Pa Podcast, Cody chats with Tim Palmer who was a guest for the Whitetail Scouting series (Ep.149) This episode we talk about how Tim season went. He started out making his Friends and his Family a Priority and filming/helping them in fro the majority of the time without even taking a bow out with him. We break that down and why he felt like he needed to kind of take a step back and start enjoying it again, which lead to him having more fun and enjoying the little things. We also talk about his Pennsylvania buck he got down in the early season, why he was successful in this hunt and how previous years intel helped him get set up in the right area to have a shot at this Buck. Once he punched his Pennsylvania Buck tag he decided to take a "Quick" trip out to Ohio to hit some public land with one of his buddies, which lead to him being able to punch his Ohio Buck tag in less then 24 hours! Tim is an amazing dude and a guy that will put others before himself, I personally can't wait to hit the woods with him and see what else he has in store for this year! Do you think your employees aren't going the extra mile for you? In this episode, Andrea explores the data behind employee effort and talks about how you, as a leader can employ, engage and retain employees who are willing to go the extra mile for you. Andrea also talks about the SDT theory and how this can help influence and drive behaviours within your business. KEY TAKEAWAYS Focus on your employee's individual motivations. If you can discover what they intrinsically value, you can engage and motivate them. The SDT theory proposes that people have three basic psychological needs, autonomy, competency and relatedness. When these needs are satisfied employees are engaged and more likely to go the extra mile. To drive autonomy you have to let employees decide how they make an impact and allow them to talk openly and make decisions. Foster an environment where everyone is there to grow and be developed, this will create a culture of competence. Constructive feedback, opportunities for employees to build skills and recognising and celebrating their achievements will create an environment of competence. Relatedness is potentially one of the biggest mistakes leaders make. Creating a sense of belonging and connectedness by fostering positive relationships, teamwork and collaboration cannot be underestimated. BEST MOMENTS “Doing more of the same as a leader is not going to be effective” “If people don't go the extra mile, it means they aren't happy to do more action than they are already doing” “Offer employees real choices and opportunities to make decisions” “It's like we are at school, but in a good way” “You're going to drive motivation to another level” “Relatedness is critical because once you get really related to people everything changes and the magic happens and you see people working better together” VALUABLE RESOURCES Like the show? Hi Easy Ager, Overwhelm. What fun, right?
Whew! I've shared that I'm speaking at a conference this week in Chicago. It's an AMAZING event. The hosts and sponsors are incredible! The participants are sooooo fun and hungry! But... organizers were thrown a curve ball! Their closing speaker was unexpectedly rushed to the hospital... so they couldn't perform. And this is why I always want you to be prepared! Be prepared to go the extra mile. And as you do that... you can make even more impact... and be seen as the resource that you are. And... like I like to say... you can be a blessing AND be blessed in the process. I share the full version of the story in the episode... but as I type this... I just received a text from our key event planner and it simply reads, "You are my HERO!!! THANKS!" How fun is THAT? Be prepared... and you can be that hero when it's needed! Amen?
