POPULARITY
Tuesday, June 16, 2026OG Danielle is back in the studio with Brock, and the show kicks off with a debate over what officially counts as a puppy versus a dog, which somehow turns into Pound Puppies, dog noises, and Danielle's house full of actual puppies. The trending thread of the day asks: What phrase do you hate? Listeners and the crew go after phrases like “chef's kiss,” “I did a thing,” “this wasn't on my bingo card,” “so blessed” as a humblebrag, “unpopular opinion,” “my journey,” “that's my truth,” “I don't know who needs to hear this,” “normalize,” “it's giving,” and basically anything that sounds like it came from an influencer caption. The show also gets into plenty of “What the Heck” moments, including more than 1,000 people dressing as Marilyn Monroe for a world record, a birthday cake shaped like an eight that accidentally looked very inappropriate, a Florida man speeding with 34 empty White Claws in the passenger seat, Hawaii having the most expensive medium cheese pizza, and a fisherman catching a small great white shark off Nantucket.Brock and Danielle take a surprisingly real detour into forgiveness, difficult relationships, texting versus talking in person, and how things can get lost when serious conversations happen over messages instead of face-to-face. They also roll through random facts about NBA Jam making a billion dollars, wolves not actually howling at the moon, lightning striking Earth around 100 times per second, James Naismith having a losing record as Kansas basketball coach, and the Onyx River in Antarctica. The episode also highlights Bentonville Film Fest week, with Danielle sharing events, family programming, free movies at the Momentary, the Crayola Creative Studios competition, Cookie Queens, Geena Davis, and the opening film connected to Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick. Brock and Danielle also talk about downtown Bentonville changes, including the new club-style version of The Meteor, The Barber, and whether Bentonville can really sustain late-night nightlife.Good news includes two Iowa teens rescuing an elderly woman who had been trapped outside for more than 16 hours, Danielle getting ready to print her 12th magazine issue, her family's double doodle puppies needing homes, and finally having a working car again. The show also covers Gen Xers still depending on parents, the great wealth transfer, nursing home vending machines loving Dr. Pepper, Spielberg movie rankings, World Cup talk, Star Wars minutes, kids and table manners, “exhaust-overwhelmulated,” coffee snobbery, expensive whiskey mistakes, Bentoville food talk, celebrity news, summer camps, kids losing electronics until the house is clean, Toy Story 5 making parents hate technology, and college home videos that apparently involved way more nudity than expected. It is a funny, fast-moving, very Brock-and-Danielle episode full of phrases we all secretly hate, local Bentonville talk, family chaos, puppies, coffee, and just enough emotional honesty to keep things interesting.

Loneliness doesn't always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like a town full of people who never quite talk to each other. That's why I loved sitting down with Joe Petrillo and Clint Misamore, co-founders of WUF World, to unpack a surprisingly effective community-building tool: pets. They call animals “Chief Icebreaking Officers,” and once you hear their stories, it's hard to unsee how a simple “Do you have any pets?” can flip a stranger moment into a real connection. We trace WUF World's origin to the pandemic era and the growing concern around isolation, then widen the lens to what happens when you design gatherings around the human animal bond. Joe and Clint explain why pets fit naturally with culture and storytelling, especially film, and how their work aligns with Bentonville Film Festival's focus on stories that connect us all. We also get practical about the modern family and the workplace: even if most companies can't allow pets on site, every employer can build pet supportive culture, policies, and benefits that recognize how people actually live. Then we get into the fun part: what to expect at the Momentary during Bentonville Film Festival. Think pet friendly screenings, food and drinks, local and national brand activations, and Best Friends on site with adoptable animals. They also share fresh updates like an ELF Beauty glam studio for you and your pet, plus a Saturday community hike with AllTrails. If you love Bentonville, love film, or just want an easy way to meet one new friend, this is your entry point.Subscribe for more conversations like this, share the episode with a fellow pet lover, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show. In this Refresh & Restore Bible Study, we look at suffering, weakness, and hope through the lens of Scripture. Life is full of limitations, burdens, and afflictions, but for those who belong to Jesus, suffering is not the end of the story.Hebrews 12:1–2 reminds us that there is a race set before us and that we run by laying aside every weight and looking to Jesus. Philippians 4:10–13 shows us that Christ strengthens us in abundance and need, not by making us self-sufficient but by teaching us to depend on Him. And 2 Corinthians 4:7–18 reminds us that we are jars of clay, weak and breakable, so that the surpassing power would be seen as belonging to God and not to us.Our afflictions may feel heavy now, but in Christ they are light and momentary compared to the eternal weight of glory He has prepared for His people. Jesus is the joy set before us, the strength within us, and the One who keeps us from shattering. If you would like to see a written version of this podcast, complete with Scripture references, you can find it here.

You cannot have fear without thought. The sting of "what if" lasts forever while rejection is quick and momentary. I'd much rather be rejected a million times over. A lot of people have chosen a moseying life—you're not one of them. Acid grace purifies the darkness (it hurts, but it's necessary). A museum can add square footage without changing how people feel inside it. Crystal Bridges is doing the opposite. We talk with Moira Anderson, Director of Public Programs for Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Momentary, about the June 6-7 opening that doubles gallery space and introduces a major new Learning and Engagement Hub built for rest, play, and hands-on creativity. If you have ever thought, “Museums aren't for me,” this conversation is for you!We get into what's actually new: studio spaces including ceramics, a community lounge that welcomes you before you ever pick up a brochure, and performance and gathering rooms that make the museum feel like a place to stay, not just pass through. Moira explains why access means more than free admission, and how drop-in art making is designed for the person who has never touched a paintbrush, the family member who gets tired halfway through, and the first-time visitor who needs a clear signal that they belong. Then we preview the celebration weekend: creating alongside artists, a bike-powered pottery wheel, screen printing, and musicians from Jazz at Lincoln Center performing among the artworks and in the new Commons. We also talk about Bentonville, Arkansas as a fast-growing destination, the way Crystal Bridges blends art, architecture, and the Ozark landscape, and how programming connects across Crystal Bridges and the Momentary, including what's coming next at the Momentary. If you're planning a trip or looking for the best things to do in Bentonville, this will help you map a day that feels inspiring instead of exhausting. You've heard this before: "If you don't want to be tempted to eat it, then don't have it around". But is this really an effective strategy to use with your clients? In this episode, host Dr. Kasey Jo Orvidas and co-host Sarah Tierney break down a powerful coaching tool: momentary restriction (also known as abstinence sampling). With this tool, the goal isn't to take away the foods that your clients crave forever, but instead bring more awareness to the behavior itself in order to change it. They discuss:Why awareness of current behaviors is step one before any change can happenWho makes a good candidate for this strategy (and who doesn't)How to present this tool so clients actually buy in and stick with itIf you want a practical, research-backed tool to help clients build self-awareness around challenging foods or behaviors, this episode gives you the framework to use it effectively.Connect with us on Instagram: @coachkaseyjo@sarahmichelletierneyGrab 5 Free Lessons in Mindset and Behavior Change Coaching [HMCC WAITLIST]LEAVE A REVIEW, WIN A WORKSHOP! For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison. – 2 Corinthians 4:17

This week we talk about Momentary Lily! Jack poked fun at the “twist” about the main characters almost immediately, thanks to some weird-looking digital tears he noticed, while Rick didn't catch on until way later in episode seven. Both of us were annoyed by how the show forced emotional moments, killing off characters you barely knew and then spending way too much time trying to make you feel bad about it. Jack wasn't a fan of the action either, since the main girl is basically just a passenger on a sentient guitar that fights on its own. We also had a lot to say about the lack of common sense, like Rick's rant about the group freezing in the snow while holding a sword that emits heat! Jack tried to defend it as a high-stress mistake, but even he was fed up with the annoying catchphrases, and we both agreed it was ridiculous that a post-apocalyptic world still has working internet just for bikini videos.About the anime:Set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by mechanical invaders known as Wild Hunts, Momentary Lily follows Renge Kasumi, a lonely amnesiac who has a unique power to fight back against these monstrosities. After wandering through a desolated city, she joins forces with five other girls, Yuri, Erika, Hinageshi, Sazanka, and Ayame each one wielding specialized weapons called Andvari to combat the mechanical threat. While the battles are central to their survival, the story tries to focus on the quiet, human moments of their daily lives, such as the bond-building experience of cooking meals from scavenged canned goods in the ruins. But then everything changes as we discover that they are actually alien-created copies rather than true humans.Next Week's Pick: “Failure frame ”Have you had the chance to watch Momentary Lily or any of our previous selections? Two days into February, the “new year motivation” starts to fade—but this is where real growth begins. We sit down with Alison Nation, CMO of Visit Bentonville, to trace how a small city stitched together art, trails, wellness, and hospitality into a destination that keeps turning editors' heads from New York to London.Crystal Bridges fuels the cultural surge with a major expansion that doubles gallery space. The Compton brings fresh momentum to the downtown hotel scene, while 8th Street Gateway Park strengthens a car-light loop that moves from Razorback Greenway to Applegate Trail and up to Coler Mountain Bike Preserve. With USA Cycling training here and local trail builders shaping projects heading into LA28, Bentonville's outdoor credibility is real.Looking ahead, we map 2026 goals: hosting writers, curating e-bike tours, and partnering on exhibition openings to build itineraries that show the city's full range. Along the way, Alison shares local favorites—greenway strolls, experimental installations at The Momentary, and essential ice cream stops—that explain why visitors arrive curious and leave attached. Welcome to the Via Stoica Podcast, the Podcast on Stoicism.Where we take a moment to slow down and reflect on what the Stoics can teach us about living with reason and restraint. In this episode, we turn to Seneca and a striking passage from On Anger, Book 3, section 3: “So tell me, will someone call a man sane who, as if caught up in a tempest, does not walk, but is driven along and takes as his master a furious demon?”Seneca uses vivid language to show what anger does to the mind. When anger takes over, we are no longer choosing our actions; we are being carried by them. The Stoic principle at work here is self-command. Anger is not strength, but a loss of inner direction, a momentary madness that blocks reason and leads us away from acting well. This idea connects closely with Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius, who both warn against being ruled by impressions instead of examining them. Through the disciplines of Desire, Assent, and Action, Stoicism teaches us to loosen our attachment to emotional impulses, question the judgments that ignite anger, and respond deliberately rather than react blindly. In everyday life, this means learning to pause when irritation arises, recognizing when emotion is taking the lead, and choosing restraint over release, especially in moments of pressure or conflict. For more, check out this related article with quotes on Stoicism and anger:https://viastoica.com/10-seneca-quotes-on-anger/And if you're looking for more Stoic sayings, visit viastoica.com, where you'll find hundreds of quotes with full references to the original texts:https://viastoica.com/stoic-quoteshttps://viastoica.com/marcus-aurelius-quoteshttps://viastoica.com/epictetus-quoteshttps://viastoica.com/seneca-quotesMake sure to subscribe for more Stoic Quotes episodes every Friday, as well as our Tuesday interviews and longer discussions.Support the showhttps://viastoica.comhttps://viastoica.com/stoic-life-coachinghttps://viastoica.com/benny-vonckenhttps://x.com/ViaStoicainfo@viastoica.comProduced by: badmic.com
Episode No. 740 features artist Firelei Báez and curators Charlene Foggie-Barnett and Dan Leers. The MCA Chicago is presenting "Firelei Báez," the first North American mid-career survey of the artist's paintings and installations. Báez's work often explores the legacies of colonialism across the American and the African diaspora, in the Caribbean, and beyond. Her works are often explosively colorful and use complex and layered materials, including archival material and paint, to unsettle fixed categories and historical events. The exhibition was curated by Eva Respini with Tessa Bachi Haas; the MCA Chicago presentation was organized by Carla Acevedo-Yates with Cecelia González Godino and Iris Colburn. It is on view through May 31. A catalogue was published by the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston in association with DelMonico Books. It is available from Amazon and Bookshop for $36-56. Institutions that have previously presented major Báez exhibitions include the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen, The Momentary in Bentonville, Ark., the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and The Studio Museum in Harlem, and the Pérez Art Museum Miami. Foggie-Barnett and Leers are the co-curators of "Black Photojournalism" at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. The exhibition presents work by nearly 60 photographers chronicling historic events and daily life in the United States between 1945 and 1984. The exhibition was designed by David Hartt. It is on view through January 19, before traveling to the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth. An excellent catalogue was published by the Carnegie. Amazon and Bookshop offer it for about $60. In addition to the video below, the CMOA has produced an outstanding podcast series to accompany the show. Haven't shared much from this guy in awhile and this one struck me as something I needed to get out there. Coach AJ - Mental Fitness (@coachajkings) shared this from legendary football coach Nick Saban, "Complacency creates a blatant disregard for doing what is right." "Success is momentary, it's not continuous." We are reminded from Coach AJ as he shares some of his thoughts connected to this - “Success hinges on doing the work, while complacency is full of indifference. • It erodes your discipline. • It affects your focus.” This got me thinking about the truth in my life when I become complacent, it takes a bit more effort, energy and decision making to get going again. I've always had a challenge to focus in my life, but when I do, I can get things done. I'm seeing this clearer now as I get older that I need to have “intentional focus” in my life a bit more to accomplish things I want to do. The discipline I had to have in order to get up every day, prepare myself for teaching & coaching; well, those reasons (not working now) are not there any longer. They have been replaced by other things. My focus has been on me and my health battles, instead of so many other people along with the thousand of decisions I had to make each day. Pastor J.D. helps us answer the question, “What are you looking for when you yearn for love and romance?” We're going to deal with our expectations in marriage and what God's plan is for singleness as we continue our study of Ephesians 5 called First Love.
Our culture often acts like romantic love is the pinnacle of human existence. From our earliest days, we read about storybook characters finding their “happily ever after” with their soulmate. But, is that really how it works? Pastor J.D. gives us a balanced, biblical view of marriage and singleness as he continues our new series on relationships called First Love in Ephesians 5.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? Meal time was just as important to the life of Jesus as it is in our lives today. Pastor J.D. dives into Luke 14 in our new series called Come to the Table where Jesus tells several parables comparing the kingdom of God. Lost people are found, broken people are put back together, addicts are set free, lonely people find community, and sins are forgiven at Jesus' table.
It's Witness Wednesday! Todd Friel meets Phillip and Scott at Georgia Tech and explores topics around purgatory, capitalism, sin, and God's laws. Todd challenges Philip, who maintains dual French-American citizenship, on his beliefs about capitalism versus socialism and his reluctant acceptance of God, while addressing Scott's skepticism on God's justice and the nature of sin. These candid discussions reveal important insights into morality, belief, and human nature. Segment 1: • Philip admits he believes the Christian God makes the most sense but rejects Him to keep living how he wants. • Todd shows Philip that rejecting Jesus for “fun now” is choosing sin over eternal life, urging him to see Jesus as better than temporary pleasures. • Philip acknowledges he's choosing sin knowingly and is willing to face the consequences, even hell, to keep his current lifestyle. Segment 2: • Todd clarifies that Jesus' offer isn't just about avoiding hell but receiving kindness and mercy despite rebellion. • Philip admits he knows Jesus offers life but still rejects Him, saying he's fine with his choices for now. • Todd warns Philip he will face greater judgment for rejecting truth he fully knows, urging him to consider Jesus' kindness before it's too late. Segment 3: • Scott claims God is unjust for punishing humans He created, arguing people are like programmed robots with no choice. • Todd explains the standard of justice is based on the One sinned against (God), making every sin infinitely serious. • Scott insists the God of the Bible is evil, while Todd shows God's justice and kindness in sending Jesus to satisfy wrath and offer mercy. Segment 4: • Todd shares the “tribal king” analogy to explain how God satisfies justice while showing mercy by taking punishment Himself. • Scott insists God should simply forgive without punishment, rejecting the concept of divine justice requiring payment for sin. • Conversation ends with Todd urging Scott to see humanity's sinfulness and God's kindness, parting respectfully but with Scott unconvinced. ___ Thanks for listening!
