On this episode of the Smuggler's Galaxy Podcast, customizer Ryan Shaw, better known as Bantha5 on Instagram and the old Rebelscum.com forums, joins the discussion to lend his thoughts on Hasbro's Retro Collection. As someone who has creature vintage style action figures of Leia, Figrin D'an, and Gargan, he has some ideas on how to improve the sculpting of this line and be more reminiscent of the vintage Kenner figures. Ryan also has insight on how some of the vintage figures were sculpted and the special wax used at that time. Ryan even made adjustments to the Retro Darth Vader released with the Obi-Wan Kenobi wave. Additionally, Glen attended Legioncon, a toy show in Smyrna, Ga., and gives a report on how that event went. They also discuss pick ups this week. Download and listen! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/smugglersgalaxy/support
Jordan Ghastly joins the Smuggler's Galaxy this week to talk about the Obi-Wan Kenobi wave of the Retro Collection. Jason has an interesting take on these 3.75 inch action figures and how the feel different from the Kenner toy line we grew up with. Then they move on to the Jazewares line of vehicles and provide their initial thoughts now that they've had time to enjoy each item. Finally, they talk about the Star Wars collecting culture and how it differs from G.I. Joe, Transformers, and more. It's time to Celebrate! But before the lads look back to Anaheim and forward to London, there's a round-up of Obi-Wan Kenobi on t'telly - is it any good? What did we like? What wasn't so great? And with that, it's time for a deep dive into Star Wars Celebrations. Jason and Chris tell all about highlights and hi-jinks in Anaheim, we look back at the announcements, the panels, the guests, and the Collecting Track, as well as interviews with other intrepid Brits who made the long trek to California. Rounding up the regular features, the boys delve into their recent purchases, delight in the Action Figure Face-Off, debate Richard's dodgy quiz questions, and discover some exciting new acquisitions from the wonderful World Wide Web. Rebel Briefings sees the lads discuss how Star Wars is helping one little boy recover from the horrors of conflict, look at the upcoming Retro Collection figures from the Obi-Wan series, and uncover more treasures in the latest PropStore extravaganza. No interview this month, as the lads look forward to Celebrating once again in London next year with the worldwide Star Wars community. What's there to look forward to? We'll give you a full rundown. The show wraps up with a licensee section on Marks & Spencer. Didn't they only produce one vintage item? Surely Pete and Preston can't talk for more than 5 minutes on this one ... can they? Catch up with all your favourite TVR fun and frivolity in all the usual podcast places. https://youtu.be/VXw73uCixZM

"Hasbro doesn't want to make 3.75-inch figures because there is no profit." "Hasbro is lying about Vintage Series sales numbers. They're really higher than Black Series ones." "If you don't pay full price for the rerelease of Slave I you are killing the line." "The Vintage Collection line is dead. Hasbro just hasn't told us yet." Those and many other rumors swirl around Hasbro's current 3.75-inch figure line "The Vintage Collection." Fans, frustrated by the lack of new figures released in that line, start "storytelling" to come up with reasons why the number of new Star Wars figures in the classic scale is so small while the 6-inch Black Series line gets so many. On this new Star Wars Action News podcast we take those statements directly to the source! Listen as our host Arnie interviews Patrick Schneider (Hasbro's Senior Brand Manager for Star Wars) and Eric Franer (Product Designer on Hasbro's Star Wars team). In addition to asking about Black Series rereleases, Retro Collection beasts, and, the heart of the conversation, what is the status of The Vintage Collection. Also on this show Arnie and Marjorie are again joined by Chris and Johnathan to discuss the history of the 3.75-inch highly articulated line, the benefits of 6-inch versus 3.75-inch figures, and the feasibility of the many conspiracy theories that surround the toys. Listen (or watch) now to hear all this and more on this Star Wars Action News podcast!

For Star Wars collectors 2019 was a mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good included the most detailed Star Wars vehicle/playset ever in the form of Jabba's Sail Barge. Plus the Black Series 6-inch line continued strong with great offerings from Clone Wars Armor Obi-Wan Kenobi to The Mandalorian, plus several Rise of Skywalker figures. Mixed in with that was some bad: The limited-articulation 3.75" line that had been a mainstay for years was cancelled. The Vintage Collection filled that niche, but lacked in new figures and in-store availability. The new 5-inch Galaxy of Adventures line didn't click with many collectors. Then in the ugly was the limited availability of Retro Collection figures at Target--especially the multi-colored Darth Vader. And what, no Baby Yoda toys? In this new Star Wars Action News podcast the team comes together to reflect on what the last year brought--and what they hope the new year can deliver!

More information about future STAR WARS films was revealed this week by Disney CEO Bob Iger, and RFR microphones were there. Billy Mac sits in this week as we review Bob’s recent statements and pick apart what he said for clues. The RFR Listener Voice Mail Hotline is wide open this week for post-Star Wars Celebration feedback, speculation and rumors about THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, THE MANDALORIAN and the upcoming return of THE CLONE WARS. Plus, the hunt is on for Hasbro’s new Retro Collection action figures, Puppet Lando brings us the latest tweets from the real Billy Dee Williams, and much more.
I think Hasbro found a good balance with their SDCC MP-10 Ghostbusters crossover. Previously thought to be a waste of resources, the full reveal killed it. Super7 almost gave some useful information in the Q and A this month. However, Brian was a lot more forthcoming in an hour-long talk with Roast Gooble Dinner we recap. Another goal not met this weekend was scoring the new Retro Collection of Star Wars. Luckily it has been recently revealed that they will not be exclusive for long. As usual, there is no Joe news so we'll leave you an example of why cheaters never prosper, well almost never.

A Retro Musical Extravaganza. Presented entirely by the Retrobots, with a little help. A full hour of various collected love songs from the era of old time radio. The original play list was so long, it could have easily filled a second hour. Instead, the audio quality has been boosted a little so this will be a larger file. I hope you enjoy. Please make comments, and let me know what you think about seeing more, or fewer of these kinds of shows. Playlist: 1. When Pa Was Courting Ma. Tex Beneky, Glenn Milller. 1938. 2.
