It's time for us to spotlight the Wild World of Wrestling! To help us shout out the correct information; we have the Ring-Master man himself: Mr Criss Fresh! After a little bit of local toy aisle chats, we get to the crux of how wrestling became the juggernaut that it is known to be. Through the eyes of Fresh, how did Wrestling hit his radar as a kid. A captivating story of Fresh following Wrestlemania through TV & Tape trading's, plus all the schoolyard banter - then the natural progression onto toys. Fresh Smacks Down the facts & memories of indestructible LJN figures & their off-shoot bendy counterparts too. The discovery of WWF Hasbro figures & their great sculpts! The realisation that some of these 'Green-back' figures did not get a wider world release - but are quite plentiful in Australia! Galoob & ToyBiz toylines featuring WCW characters & Jakks Pacific covering WWF. Poppy covering the Japanese Wresting series & Remco spotlighting the AWA Federation. Original San Fransico Toy Makers covering the WCW & ECW. Then that new age era... The 'PG' era of Wrestling. Quickly followed by an Inverted Atomic Drop.... Mattel enters the Ring & takes home the Championship Belt in the Toy Aisles; & not forgetting that CharaPro winning over in the East, under their New Japan Wrestling toyline. All this & more! A genuinely energetic chat about not only about one man's History with Wrestling Toys, but the passion to the Ring & it's very Famous Inhabitants. This could just be; the Best their is, the Best there was & the Best there ever will be!!!Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Lots of new toys to talk to but if there too much of a good thing? Can Mattel stop leaving getting their wires crossed? New Masters comics! Has the price of LEGO reached an all time high? It sure is LIFE SIZE. And lets not forget all the chat coming out of D23 – Thunderbolts, trailers, blasts from the past. And yes – we chat about THAT spitting incident!Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This week on the Toy Power Podcast; Scot introduces a brand new segment called: Intraspective!! But in deciphering the meaning behind it, does Ben spoil the future of this topic? Anyhow, this is a chat about a large property - this time being focused on our beloved Masters Of The Universe. We chat to four (out of the many), toylines that have made a huge mark on our lives in one way or another. Vintage, 200X, Classics & the on-going Origins Toylines. What makes them each so special, key releases as well as a DVG rating out of 19. This was a really fun ep to record, hope you enjoy listening to it!Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's news day and we bring the weird and wonderful to you! But first we hear about Scot's guest appearance on DVG and – Weird is right word! McFarlane brings the heat this time while we get stuck on the Mickey Mouse aspect of GI Joe. Then there's MOTU controversy as Ramen toys get in on the action while we debate Mattel's latest entry to the Origins line. But on the subject of weird, I think we have a new winner for a What-The Crossover! And just when you thought the average wait time for figures couldn't get anymore crazy – here comes a new challenger! Finish it up with some latest scores and sneak peak at a potential future score by the devious Scot. Opener: Royals Please join us on the Boardgames To Go discord server where you can chat online with other podcast listeners. For boardgame publishers, I believe there's such as thing as "convention season." Of course game conventions happen all over the world, all across the calendar, but for the industry there's a special significance to Gencon in the US, and Spiel in Europe. Add in Origins, UK Games Expo, the Nuremberg Int'l Toy Fair, events in France or Japan...the list goes on & on. Especially for the domestic North American market, however, the summer season of Gencon and Origins means something for sales & product launches. Both events are located in the middle of the US. Designer (and friend!) David Thompson is also located in the middle of the US. I had the great fortune to stay with him for a weekend recently, and besides playing a bunch of games together, we also recorded a podcast. He'd recently been to Gencon & Origins, as well as Ohio's own Buckeye Game Fest. We sat on his back porch during a summer evening and recorded this podcast together. I hope you enjoy the discussion. https://discord.io/BoardgamesToGo Closers: I sat next to a guy on the plane who played a lot of Catan...but only on the app on his smartphone. He told me how the original game has too much luck, how certain Seafarers maps turn it into more of a game of "pure strategy." I showed him Azul on BGA, Iberian Gauge in a photo, and A Few Acres of Snow on Yucata. It's like we were speaking the same language, but different dialects that could barely understand each other! -Mark
