Milan Hejduk is the Colorado Avalanche team record holder for most games played in franchise history! Hejduk didn't just "play" - he was an essential part of the 2001 Stanley Cup season, won the 2003 Rocket Richard Trophy for scoring the most goals in the NHL that season, and is one of only 3 players to wear the "C" for the Avalanche. He played with some dynamic talent over the years and has great stories about Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Ray Bourque, Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya... Milan Hejduk is a Colorado Avalanche legend! Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on Matthews getting nominated for the Ted Lindsay, Lady Byng and Selky Trophies while also capturing the Rocket Richard Trophy. Mike looks at the data to explain why Matthews should have been a nominee for the Hart Trophy. To end the show, Mike and Dave get down to business and do the giveaway for the Matthews jersey. We're a couple of weeks into this new NHL season, the Oilers picked up a pair of wins on their first road trip, and that means the boys had plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today's podcast, we're talkin' about last night's insanity in Chicago, Nuge's heater, and a whole lot more.To kick off this week's podcast, we got started with a conversation about the temporary dressing rooms that the Arizona Coyotes are rolling with until their new rooms are completed. With the chat about two terrible dressing rooms out of the way, we turned our focus to last night's gong show in Chicago and how that was easily one of the weirdest wins you will ever see. Outside of the wild amount of penalties that were called, the thing that most people wanted to talk about was the odd non-goal call against Evander Kane. Obviously, we're all Oilers fans on this podcast but that still didn't change our opinion on the way this play shook out. Changing gears, we looked at Connor McDavid's red hot start and whether or not we think he's going to win his first Rocket Richard Trophy. With eight goals in his first eight games, it's hard to argue that McDavid won't be in the mix when the season ends. Sticking with Oilers heaters, we also looked at the best start of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' career and where we think he's going end up when all is said and done. From there, we looked ahead at the upcoming three-game road trip and what we should be expecting from the Oilers on a trip that includes rematches against both the Blues and Flames. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Justin and Brent start off the hour discussing some of the Leafs' most notable holes in their bottom six and on the blue line. Then, Mark Messier, former NHL forward and current ESPN analyst, joins the show to discuss his impressions of this year's Maple Leafs team, his experience playing in New York, and Connor McDavid's chances of winning the Rocket Richard Trophy this season (12:50). Later, it's time for the Wake and Rake, presented by Unibet (32:50)! Producers Josh and Daniele jump in for our weekly edition of “Pick a Side”. Afterwards, Justin and Brent solicit text submissions for our “Anchor” pick and assemble the show's daily Wake and Rake parlay! The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.

We are closing in on the start of a new season, with preseason games in full swing. With that in mind, we give our predictions for the top 3 teams in each division, the bottom 3 in the league, the President's Trophy and the Rocket Richard Trophy. Andrei Deniskin was suspended by the UHL for his racist behavior during a game between his team, HC Kremenchuk, and HC Donbass. His gesture and comments were directed at a young, black hockey player, Jalen Smereck. Sadly, this is not the worst of the situation. We had a very difficult time holding our tongues and not lashing out at this atrocious behavior. Kristin Welsh is to be congratulated as she has become the first woman linesman in the OHL. Robin Lehner, never one to keep his opinions to himself, has taken to Twitter in defense of Jack Eichel and the ongoing situation. The NCAA has released its preseason rankings and there are many M-state schools in the top 10 and beyond. We break down the Red Wings and what to expect. Finally we discuss our Twitter Poll asking about Chara and Parise. Who will have more of an impact for the Islanders. Lots of discussion to be had here, so give a listen and comment. Enjoy the Show!
