Rampant shoplifting in California's capital has surpassed "crisis level," according to the outspoken sheriff of Sacramento County. "It is way beyond crisis level," Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper told Fox News Digital in a Zoom interview Thursday about shoplifting.  Cooper took the internet by storm earlier this month when he said in an X post that Target leaders prevented deputies from thwarting shoplifting incidents despite the store requesting help to stymie rampant retail crime. Cooper said his office recently worked with the massive retailer to carry out a shoplifting operation, but the plan apparently crumbled when Target leaders made a list of rules for where and how deputies and detectives could arrest the suspects.Support the show

Dom kicks off the week with a gust of energy discussing carjackings, mail-in balloting, and the lack of fire within the Republican party.  A Bishop in Texas says the Pope and his staff are trying to change the Church at its fundamental core, and was inexplicably let go by the Church.  Tim Scott suspended his campaign live on Trey Gowdy's show. Why did he do it? Why couldn't his campaign get off the ground?   Michael Graham is here to discuss updates regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict and the reporting of the ordeal. Graham argues the intent of Hamas is affecting things more than just the violence. They do not want to end things peacefully, they just want to kill. They then move to sexually explicit books in school libraries and a piece that WHYY aired to lead viewers to think it was a book ban.  San Francisco hid their homeless people and erected walls in preparation for Xi Jinping's visit as Gavin Newsome blurts the word ‘True' a few times for some reason. Why are teachers not held to a standard anymore? They do not have to pass basic literacy tests in order to be certified because people of color do worse with these tests than white teachers. Second hour we move to authoritarianism over our vaccines as Miranda Devine wrote an op-ed discussing the lawsuits against the federal government over the mandates and its aftershocks. Dom and Henry compare and contrast vaccines mandates with CTE risks. Corporate greed running for Senate! Shrinkflation has hit Oreos as an enthusiast noticed significantly less cream in his favorite snack. There is now an entire subreddit dedicated to pointing this out. Will the Democrats pivot and say Nabisco is doing this because prices are higher? No, they'll blame corporate greed!  Bidenomics indicates that 40% of Democrats say they are better off with Biden while 31% say the opposite is true. Dobbs and Democracy! Why is the secret service shooting at carjackers when we are told to just let them have it because they are just “possessions?” You're either all in or all out for Trump as a Republican candidate. You don't kind of get a girl pregnant, do you?  More of your side question answers and mail-in balloting costs. Yanglings after a couple of Yuenglings. We'll probably check it out.  The ever increasing availability of digital surveillance tools is threatening privacy in France (the police want to turn on your phone's camera), Virginia (adults need to register with a government website to view porn), and Sacramento (the Sheriff illegally shares license plate data with police in states that have criminalized abortion). As a result of the serial attacks, a task force was soon formed in order to identify the attacker and bring an end to his horrific crimes.   As the sole female investigator on the case, retired Undersheriff in the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, Carol Daly understood the importance of bringing empathy to those who suffered from the traumatic attacks. Credit: Tara Violet Niami / Focus Features[/caption] We talk to French filmmaker and director of the just-released movie, The Mustang, Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre.  If you’re a listener to this show, we know you love horses. However, many of you have had some tough horses to deal with. It doesn’t matter whether your horse is a wild mustang or one of the domestic breeds, one thing we’ve probably all had to deal with is our relationship with the horse.  The Mustang takes this relationship to the limit with a prison inmate and a tough-as-nails wild horse.   Back in August of 2017, we interviewed Joe Misner who runs the RCC Wild Horse Program for the Sacramento Sheriff’s office.  We talked about the symbiotic relationship between the BLM Wild Horse Management and the prison system. In taking responsibility for the care and training of horses, these inmates learn not only horsemanship, but how their attitude, actions, and body language affects the world around them in both the horse world and the human world.  The recidivism rate for inmates in the program is substantially lower than those in other programs. You would think more prisons would take advantage of this. Exploring the Plot In the movie The Mustang, a hardened, angry criminal - just looking to do his time and get out - is paired with a wild horse freshly plucked by the BLM and thrown into his own prison system. Now, it might be argued that neither the prisoner or the horse did anything other than what nature taught them to do, but they both found themselves in the same predicament - stuck behind the prison fences.  Could they rely on one another to help them work their way through this situation? [caption id="attachment_2584" align="alignleft" width="300"] Bruce Dern stars as Myles in Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre’s THE MUSTANG, a Focus Features release. Credit: Tara Violet Niami / Focus Features[/caption] Director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre spent years researching and working on the script for this movie.  We sat down over Skype on a recent afternoon and talked about what it was like making this movie. The Mustang was released last Friday and I know you will enjoy watching it. Also, check out the BLM website about their Wild Horse & Burro Program. Far too many horses in this country will spend their entire lives behind the fences of holding facilities.   Contact Us Our library contains well over 200 episodes now and you can find them all for free on iTunes, with our Android App in the Amazon store, and now Stitcher, or wherever podcasts are distributed.  Get the Stitcher app and tell us how it works.  We are on Google Play too!  Find every episode and more about the show at whoapodcast.com.  Please take a moment and join our email list. Napoleon Hill Foundation Certified Instructor Tom Cunningham (too tall) interviews Michael Knittel Founder of Lagunitas Asset Management. For the past 17 years, Michael has been laser focused on empowering and educating investors, while helping them save money in the process.  Since he became one of the youngest licensed investment advisors in the country at 21 years old, he has become an expert in helping investors defy down markets.  Whether it was the Internet bubble that burst in 2000, or the housing market which popped in 2008, his experience in helping investors protect the downside of their portfolios has truly set him apart from his peers. In 2013, he founded Lagunitas Asset Management, which through our mantra - “Helping Smart People Make Smart Investments”™ - communicates and pierces the heart of what he strives to accomplish for high net worth individuals, business owners, pension plans, and endowments here in the U.S.  Because of the “Boom and Bust” nature of global markets, he feels that it is even more important than ever to have a professional advisor by any investors side to watch over their hard-earned dough! His chief initiative at Lagunitas is to find unique ways to give back to the community, and is able to accomplish this is by helping charities raise funds, promoting them on social media, and throwing large scale gala’s in their honor.  As a result, Lagunitas has partnered with the Sacramento Sheriff’s and their incredible charity, the Sheriff’s Community Impact Program. http://www.lagunitasfinancialplanning.com/
