If ever there was a place of wonder, it's heaven. But when was the last time you truly wondered about heaven? If heaven is our eternal destiny as believers, shouldn’t we give it more thought? More study? And shouldn’t our daily agenda be shaped by the need to prepare for heaven? This week on The Land and the Book, we’ll shift our focus toward where it belongs: Heaven. Don’t miss our fabulous “sneak preview” with guest Jennifer Rothschild on The Land and the Book.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/landandthebookSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
"Sometimes we think, 'when I get to heaven someday, then I'll get to meet Jesus, and it's going go be this glorious introduction.' No the reality is that it should be a glorious reunion because we walk with him so much now...that when we get to heaven someday, it'll be like we're embraced by the one we've known our whole life." Today's Episode: Want to know more about heaven? Listen in to one of Natalie's favorite conversations. She's talking about heaven with Jennifer Rothschild, who just released HEAVEN: When Faith Becomes Sight. Find out about what Jennifer had to un-learn about heaven. For better or for worse, we have all heard the phrase, “Go to hell.” While considered a coarse and crass thing to say, this snide directive is seen as sarcasm and never viewed in a positive light. But what about the inverse of that phrase? Have you ever heard someone utter, “Go to heaven?” It seems sort of foreign yet hopeful. As far as heaven is concerned, who goes there? Where is it? What will we do there? These sorts of questions always come up when we consider our eternal future beyond this physical world that we are currently living in. How can we know for sure, what comes next? In a new 7-session, video-based Bible study workbook titled “Heaven: When Faith Becomes Sight”, author Jennifer Rothschild explores the subject of Heaven from a biblical perspective. She is passionate about teaching others practical ways to set their minds on things above and live life with an eternal perspective. Rothschild doesn't just want people to wonder about heaven, her hope is that they will embrace it with a faith that turns anticipation into excitement and peace. Rothschild joins us to talk about what it was like to go blind at the age of 15 and how it has shaped her faith as an adult. Listen as she shares some common misconceptions people have about Heaven while focusing on some key Bible verses that will provide us with a clearer understanding of it.

On today's episode, we unwrap a treasure trove of wisdom in my special 'best of' podcast compilation. Listen in as we revisit an unforgettable chat with Jill Savage, exploring the raw and profound journey of loving someone through their darkest times. Jill opens up about the trials of unconditional love, the challenges she faced during her husband's affair, and her own path to healing. Also, I examine the idea of blessing those who wound us and the biblical call to live in peace. The conversation extends into the realms of identity and self-assurance, with lessons from Jennifer Rothschild and life coach Lisa Allen. And, believe it or not, we find a surprising angle on confidence from none other than the Kardashians. Rounding out our episode are life-changing insights from family therapists, Bob and Judy Hughes. They share how we can cultivate more love and trust in relationships. We explore the significance of love-focused motives over outcome-focused ones (and..wow! It's good!) May God use this “best of” episode to bless the close of your 2023 and provide a great start to 2024! We talk this week about changes in our "wardrobe" that have been a reflection of our journeys to be a peace with food, eating, and our bodies. Specifically...our jeans! But we take it a bit further during this show. We look at what our stories have to say about what we value. Then we look at the heart of mind renewal, which is the question, "God, what do you have to say about that?" What does the Lord call us to? Is it about our jeans, our size, our stylishness? Of course not! What thoughts do you have in your mind or "thought closet" (Thank you, Jennifer Rothschild) that don't "fit" you so well any more? What needs to go? Have you ever just been frustrated with life? Maybe upset with the way life has gone, the pain you've had to endure, and the adversity that keeps stacking up which just seems unfair? Today's Built Different Guest, is no stranger to that very feeling! Our guest today is world renowned speaker, author, and podcast host, who at the age of 15 was diagnosed with a rare, degenerative eye disease that would eventually steal her sight. When I hear Jennifer‘s story, my worldly perspective immediately makes me think that she is someone that has every right to be mad, frustrated, bitter, and disappointed with the life she has been given, but as you hear in and throughout the episode today Jennifer experiences and displays such joy, peace, and a deep love and adoration for the Lord! How you may ask? Well in and throughout this episode what Jennifer helps us understand is that God‘s power is truly made perfect in the midst of our weakness. What we see as obstacles, God sees as opportunities to truly reveal Himself to us! Jennifer reminds us that when asking the questions such as “Why pain? Why blindness? or Why adversity?” We must also ask the questions, “Why grace? Why forgiveness? Why death on the cross for me?” When we understand that God has our best interest in mind and that He is with us and He is for us and if He is for us then who could stand against us, that is when we can truly proclaim and live out the words, “It is well with my soul!” We pray that this episode leaves you encouraged today!

As her family grew to include seven children, Lisa retired from law to raise and home educate her children. Ten years ago, Lisa went to bed happily married to her high school sweetheart and woke up a widow and single mom. As she navigated grief and shepherded her children through their own grief, God reshaped all that seemed shattered. Lisa is passionate about rich Bible study and has taught a weekly ladies Bible class at her home church for many years. She launched a local ministry for widows in Jacksonville, Florida and serves the Facebook group Widow Mama Collective. Lisa writes at LisaAppelo.com and manages a team of writers of HopeinGrief.com. She's been published at Proverbs 31 Ministries, (in)courage, Risen Motherhood, Jennifer Rothschild and has been a contributing writer for iMOM.com, The Life of a Single Mom, and the Inspire Journal. Her days are filled top to bottom with stewarding her precious children, writing, ministry, speaking and running enough to justify lots of dark chocolate.
