I had the wonderful pleasure and honor to talk to a living legend in the world of VFX Rick Shick. His history and catalog ranges from tv shows and movies. Just about every project he helped come to life has been a staple in our childhood to adulthood development. Forgive me if I fanboyed too much during this interview. This episode could have gone longer, it was such a great time talking and learning from a man of his craft. I hope to have him on again in the future. This is defiantly a Learning Tree episode. Enjoy.

Originally from Massachusetts, Elizabeth (Liz) Shick began her international journey as a young college student when in the mid 1980s, majoring in Africana Studies, she spent a year at university in Tanzania. Thereafter, she went on to obtain a Master's of International Affairs in Economic and Political Development at Columbia University. This opened the door to a career in humanitarian affairs and development with country postings in The Gambia, Angola, Mozambique, Italy, Malawi, Myanmar, and Dhaka, Bangladesh, where Liz, along with her Italian-Australian husband, is currently living and working. While living in Rome, she took a creative writing course. A year later and living in Malawi, she began her first novel. In this special edition of the Legion Outriders, Matt, John, and Dan had the chance sit down with AMG's own Will Pagani and Andrew Dursum to discuss some of the design philosophy with the creation of the new Core Rule Book.
Elizabeth Shick graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with a degree in Scientific Illustration, then went on to study Medical Illustration at the Medical College of Georgia. She was the senior medical illustrator at MLI before opening her own company, Medical Visions, Inc., in 1991. She is one of the top medical legal illustrators in the country with extensive experience, personally producing over 15,000 exhibits. "You can't just have a degree in art to be a medical illustrator. You have to have half art and half science. And that's difficult because a lot of artists don't like math or science. We don't like the technical aspect of things. And a lot of scientists have problems with visual communication. So we're kind of a rare breed because we've got to be good at both."Elizabeth's motto is: “Do what you love and delegate everything else.”
