The rivalries in New York have been distinct between the two MLS branches in the Big Apple. However, FC Cincinnati has taken a few bites out of the core before as well. We've already covered the bile between Cincinnati and the Red Bulls, and this week we take on the bluer side of the 5 Boroughs. Last season, it ended a bit sour with New York City FC marching into TQL Stadium and winning the rubber match to knock the Orange & Blue out of the playoffs. While Cincinnati brought in a ton of big-money talent in the offseason, NYCFC did the opposite by staying pat. The only major change came at the head coach role, with Nick Cushing exiting and Pascal Jansen taking over. How has that big change worked so far in New York? We invite Andrew from Hudson River Blue back to talk about the Pigeons and perhaps give us a few insights on visiting Citi Field for a match. (Perhaps he has a recommendation for matzo ball soup?) It's only one week into the season and so far, pretty good for the red legs…..4 wins in 6 games. While not earth-shattering, consider the fact that the team has not had a wining record over the first month of the season since 2013…… two years ago, they were 3-22. So how about we play, the good , the bad and the ugly. The good….. Frankie Montas. Through two starts he's been everything you'd ever want…. Throwing strikes, being pitch efficient and getting outs. He's pitched like a number one. The bad: The offensive starts for the entire team not named martini, steer or fraley. CES, Benson, Elly, candelario, stephenson. That's gotta change soon. THE UGLY: The defense. The reds starting pitching was awful last year. The bullpen was overused and ran out of steam. The reason they didn't make the playoffs was because of bad defense…number one factor. The defense stinks so far this year too. Granted, they are missing mcclain and friedl, but this is not a good defensive team. The team is back at it tonight as the new york mets come to town to open a three0-games series. The mets lost their first five games before finally winning yesterday, 2-1 over detroit. Jose Quintana, a lefthander starts for new york. Hunter greene is on the hill for cincinnati. The reds sit a full game behind first place pittsburgh and a half-game behind second place milwaukee in the nl Central. The womens final four is tonight in cleveland…. This is the kind of thing we miss out on by not having an arena. We lost out to cleveland for the republican convention four years ago…….now to THE LAND for a final four…..and lets be honest, there's zero contest when comparing the two downtowns….NUN. In the first game , undefeated south carolina will take on NC State at 7 o'clock. Then at 9, its Caitlin Clark and the Iowa hawkeyes against UConn. The title game is sunday afternoon on abc at 3 eastern. The men take center stage tomorrow out in Glendale, Arizona. Cinderella NC State, an 11 seed, face Purdue in one semi at 6:09. Then the nightcap features defending champion UConn against the crimson tide of alabama. The winners will meet Monday night. Broony James entering nba draft and the transfer portal at the same time. Frosh year interrupted by a cardiac condition which limited him to 19 minutes per game once he was cleared to play. Aveg 4 and 2 . Duquense? Ohio State? FCC hosts the new york Bulls saturday night at TQL Stadium.
Kevin, Grayson, and The Chief sit down from all different parts of the country to talk about the FC Cincinnati victory over NYCFC at TQL Stadium. 1-0 Win thanks to Lucho Acosta deciding to do it himself. Is Lucho playing too fast and reckless? Are the strikers a concern? Where does Kipp Keller fall on the depth chart now? Then in Part Two it's a look around the league, and atop the standings. Chad Munitz wasn't a big soccer fan before joining FC Cincinnati, but he did geek out about real estate. His career spans stints as the economic development director of the city of Cincinnati, executive vice president with 3CDC and VP with Towne Properties, and when Cincinnati's major league soccer team needed someone to focus full-time on real estate as it embarked on a massive, $300 million mixed-use project surrounding its West End home in TQL Stadium, they turned to Chad. Welcome back to Intellicast! On today's episode, Brian Lamar and Producer Brian dig into some of the recent news from around the market research industry. The episode kicks off with some commentary about how fall has really set in over the last week or so. Then Brian Lamar starts to provide some updates on upcoming conference dates. He talks about not only the ones left on the schedule for 2023 but many that have been announced for 2024 as well. Brian then gets into the upcoming Cincinnati WIRe event where EMI's own Mary Draper will be speaking on a panel with Mike Herrel and Rudy Bublitz about artificial intelligence, diversity, and more at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. After the conference discussion, the guys jump into some market research news. First up is the news of the new Delete Act in California that strengthens CCPA regulations. The guys wonder how this will impact companies and people who are based outside California but work with businesses/people who are. In the next story is a big one for those of us in the sample industry. Research Defender was acquired by Rep Data. Brian and Brian discuss the acquisition, and how it will enhance the competitive landscape around data quality. We also want to send our congratulations again to friends of the podcast Vignesh and the entire Research Defender team. In the next story, the guys discuss another data quality-related story, this time the new initiative, Colab, from Verve and Basis research. It takes a different approach to data quality that the guys hadn't seen before. Brian is encouraged and hopes it is successful. Producer Brian plays devil's advocate and asks how they could account for someone using the new voice chat function of ChatGPT to game their validation methods. The guys switched back to data privacy news with a story about the new federal legislation being proposed called You Own the Data Act. The proposed legislation would prohibit a lot of data collection, use, and storage by a number of insights companies and organizations, as well as requiring several common consumer data privacy rights. The guys talk about Howard's response to the legislation, as well as give their own perspective on it. In the last couple of news stories, the guys touch on the winners of the MRX Podcast of the Year award, as well as the winners of the Female Founders Award. In the last segment of the podcast, they guys discuss a recent Greenbook article titled, Why the Sampling Ecosystem Sets Up Honest Participants for Failure, from Karine Pepin of 2CV. The article talks about how EPC is a cause of fraud in the industry, and for honest participants to fail when taking surveys. You can read the article here: https://www.greenbook.org/insights/why-the-sampling-ecosystem-sets-up-honest-participants-for-failure Thanks for listening! Orlando City went to TQL Stadium and did something no other visiting team has done this season — defeat mighty FC Cincinnati. In fact, the Lions went 1-0-1 against the assumed Supporters' Shield winners in 2023, so that might bode well for a potential postseason run. You'll recall that the Lions are also the only visiting team with an MLS regular-season win at the Philadelphia Union. We broke down a nervy and hard-fought match in southwest Ohio, with the lads in purple coming out on top despite the loss of Duncan McGuire early on due to a shoulder injury. His replacement, Ramiro Enrique, managed to figure prominently in the winning goal. We checked back out our incorrect score predictions and made our selections for Man of the Match. We were split this time out. We also broke down the Ercan Kara transfer to Samsunspor. We knew the striker depth would become thinner if the move happened, but we didn't expect that to matter so quickly. OCB had a huge match at home on Sunday but things didn't go well in the first half for the Young Lions and the hole was too deep to dig out of in a wild 6-3 loss to Crown Legacy. The games are dwindling for OCB to clinch a playoff spot and the matches ahead aren't easy, but a Jack Lynn brace always makes for a more exciting experience when watching the Young Lions Our mailbagbox asked us about what Orlando City can / will do for more striker depth to see out the season and players who have revived their careers after coming to Orlando City. Remember, if there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Here's how No. 374 went down: 0:15 – The Lions managed to become the first team to beat FC Cincinnati on its home field despite losing Duncan McGuire early. 30:14 – What the Ercan Kara transfer means moving forward in light of McGuire's injury, which is hopefully not a longterm thing. 37:22 – OCB-Crown Legacy was another wild MLS NEXT Pro affair and we dipped into our mailbagbox. Bill Connelly began his life in the sports business as an Athletic Trainer for the Cincinnati Stingers of the World Hockey Association and wrapped it up as a Special Projects Manager for FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer. However, the majority of his storied career was spent with the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League - where he retired in 2017 as the team's Director of Operations. This St. Clairsville, Ohio native was inspired to pursue the sports business after the brutality of a full team "pile on tackle" in High School inspired him to switch his focus to become an Athletic Trainer (versus a full-contact Athlete). While a student at The Ohio State University, he had the opportunity to learn his craft under the staff of Coach Woody Hayes, which led to an introduction to the Bengals founder and legendary icon of football - Paul Brown. Over his 41-year career with the Bengals, Bill rose from Assistant Trainer to eventually becoming the Director of Operations for the team. He was described by the Bengals during his retirement celebration as the "Churchill of the Stadium" - doing any and all jobs to assure Bengals success, both on and off the field. After retiring from the Bengals, Bill assumed the role of Special Projects Manager for FC Cincinnati, successfully working with the startup soccer Club to design and operate TQL Stadium and the Mercy Health Training Center - both heralded as the finest Soccer Stadium and Training Centers in North America. Bill is well known throughout the NFL and MLS communities as a team player, problem solver, mentor, advocate, and friend to all. He is a proud father, husband, and grandfather. He and his wife Terri reside in Cincinnati and Norris Lake, Tennessee.
