One of my favorite episodes of the year - the week before Memorial Day Weekend. This episode features a really good conversation with Julie Rockcastle, Jen Raines, Payge Olson, Isa Cardenas and Steve Rockcastle about the upcoming Great Blue Heron Music Festival on July 4th, 5th and 6th at the Heron and all the different activities, features and music that will be there that weekend; volunteering opportunities so you can be part of the inner workings of the festival and get a free festival pass; this upcoming Nature and Wellness weekend at the Heron and all the free (yes, free!) activities and workshops this weekend, and the Heron's annual May Day celebration on Sunday that really kicks the summer off! Plus music and cuts from Jim Donovan & The Sun King Warriors, Driftwood, Cool Cool Cool, Jimkata, Ryan Montbleau, The Rumble feat. Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr., Sneezy, Max Childs, New Planets, Julia., Florencia & The Feeling, Beats Antique, Andy Frasco & The UN, Shadowgrass and The Gunpoets. An hour and a half well worth listening to. Enjoy! Kip

This presentation was recorded on April 7th, 2024 at the first DemystifySci conference in Austin TX. Dr. Pierre-Marie Robitaille presents an overview of his multi-decadal quest to understand the material basis of the stars. He also reveals a new theory to explain Mercury's anomalous precession - one that doesn't revert to warped spacetime or mathematical acrobatics. In the process, a clever solution to the mysterious solar cycles of magnetism is revealed, along with a possible mechanism for planetary formation, and sun spot production. Dr. Robitaille has faced an onslaught of attacks from the astrophysical community since he first turned his attention to the sun, perhaps because the material basis of the sun underpins all astrophysical revelations of modern times from black holes to the big bang. Like it or not, the material understanding of the sun appears to be in dire need of revision, and Dr. Robitaille has some unimpeachable concerns about the status quo. Season Four - Star Trek: Lower DecksThe season four finale of the second Trek animated series provided endings, new beginnings, and some mystery for our USS Cerritos crew. The trio looks at what happened with the unexpected return of Nick Lacarno (and how he looks ... familiar ...), the story arc of Lt(jg) Beckett Mariner, and what the future holds for everyone else. This era of Star Trek tends to have season-ending stories with galaxy-wide consequences, impressive battle sequences, and final answers to lingering questions. Even in the cartoon world, "Old Friends, New Planets" brings that same structure, but with lots of jokes and Trek-references thrown in. But how did we get here? How does "Lower Decks" deal with season arcs, compared to its sister Trek shows? Season 4 of Star Trek: Lower Decks reaches an exciting conclusion as Nick Locarno makes another attempt at achieving legendary status. Join us as we delve "Old Friends, New Planets, an episode that showcases the culmination of character development for our Lower Deckers, as Nick holds onto a grudge from the past.
Review of Lower Decks "Old Friends, New Planets" Excitingly and sadly we have reached the end of another season of Star Trek: Lower Decks. The show has really come into its own this season and this week friend of the show Brandi Jackola joins Aaron & Fatheree to do a deep dive. And If you're like us you may occasionally forget a certain member of Nova Squad so we're naming this episode in honor of her teeny cameo!
Season finale! Jimmy Akin, Dom Bettinelli, and Fr. Cory Sticha discuss this fun season ender that brings some great cameos, pays homage to the best Star Trek movie, and leaves us with a character cliffhanger. They als give their season 4 assessment.

Season four of Star Trek: Lower Decks concludes with the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos disobeying orders to stop the Nova Fleet. It is bitter sweet that season four of…
Anika and Liz do a deal with some Orions and definitely know which Chek(h)ov had the gun on the mantelpiece, it is a joke, we are only accepting criticism if it is delivered via Mark Twain impression. And Anika is not home to Mark Twain impressions. Yes, it's the finale of season 4 of Star Trek: Lower Decks, "Old Friends, New Planets"! They stuck the landing! We remain, as we have been since episode 1, a Beckett Mariner Stan Podcast You Are Not Special, Bro: The Nicholas Locarno Story Star Trek is bad at romance (but all media is bad at romance these days) …we're just gonna talk about shipping in the other series for a minute Orion is Matriarchal Capitalist Westeros and we're okay with that Anika remains SHOCKINGLY BIASED against both Migleemo and Mark Twain

Nova Fleet's here, maman. Mariner and G.D. best get away from that M.F. But everybody's getting their time to shine, maman. The Mistress of the Winter Constellation about to make a comeback, Boims is playing Captain, and Mariner hopefully gonna straighten up a bit at work. It's a lot crammed into 25 minutes. Like sardines, maman. Khan-flavored sardines with a side of Twain.Hosts:Matthew CarrollDavid C. Anthony and Laurie quickly cover the latest on the SAG-AFTRA strike, then chat about their recent interview with makeup artist James MacKinnon, who talks about being hired to work on the next Star Trek movie… for a week. They talk about some new Trek books coming next year, new Lower Decks merchandise, and an update on recording for season 5 of Lower Decks. The podcasters then launch into their review of the Star Trek: Lower Decks season finale, “Old Friends, New Planets,” talking about how the slow build all season paid off so well. There was a bit of debate over the merits of this season’s villain and how well the plan and motivation was crafted. But both agree that season 4 was the best so far and this episode brought back plenty of surprising callbacks along with some exciting cameos from The Next Generation. They wrap up with some Lower Decks deep-cut costumes from Halloween and a fun podcast with Sir Patrick Stewart.
