He was the first African American to portray a major comic book superhero in a major motion picture, having starred as Al Simmons, the protagonist in the 1997 film Spawn. White appeared as Marcus Williams in the Tyler Perry films Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too?, and starred as the character on the TBS/OWN comedy-drama television series Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse. White portrayed Jax Briggs in Mortal Kombat: Legacy and the Cyborg Seth in Universal Soldier: The Return. He portrayed boxer Mike Tyson in the 1995 HBO television movie Tyson. He also played the title role in the blaxploitation parody film Black Dynamite, as well as the animated series of the same name.

Universal Soldier The Return is one return of a franchise that was less appreciated by many but for sure is one MUST WATCH movie, even despite it's flaws. The movie has Jean Claude van Damme and his great fighting style, we got a rising star at the time legendary Michael Jai White, Bil Goldberg who is just being silly as heck...listen about it. Imagine instead all of the camp of the first film turned up to 11, That's what The Return delivers! An exciting lean action romp. This film is not without its merits though. Universal Soldier The Return (1999) is really Universal Solider IV except this movie wants you to treat it like Universal Soldier II. Luc Deveraux is back, this time completely stripped of his Universal Soldier powers to battle the likes of Michael Jai White and Bill Goldberg. It’s a mess… and a delight.
