Greg co-hosts the podcast "Talking Schmidt", which I was lucky enough to appear on last fall. He is also the second (at least) DetoxPod guest to have worked with (for?) the legend David Letterman. Greg and I chat about moving from Minnesota to New York City, a near-death experience that changed his life forever, living rent-free in NYC (a hell of a life hack), music as therapy, and more. Amy Gledhill is an award winning stand up comedian, actor, writer and podcaster. She is the winner of Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2024 Best Show for Make Me Look Fit On The Poster which is touring in Melbourne for the International comedy festival. She's also one half of the award-winning double act called the ‘The Delightful Sausage'. After taking the UK by storm, Amy is nothing short of a comedy powerhouse. Known for her unique blend of insightful observations and confessional anecdotes, she brims with natural warmth and charm. As a multi-award-winning comedian, actor, and writer, Amy is the only artist ever to be nominated for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award twice in the same year. Her show ‘The Girl Before The Girl You Marry' was nominated for Best Live Show- National Comedy Awards 2023 and Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe. She's been on The Jonathan Ross Show, The One Show, Pointless Celebrities, The Stand Up Sketch Show, Alma's Not Normal, Would I lie to You?  Sex Education, Hypothetical, Guessable, Alan Davies As Yet Untitled, The Emily Atack Show plus plenty more. In 2024 she was commissioned by Channel 4 to write a brand new comedy Blap 'Toads', in which she starred as Amber, a bride-to-be who gets cold feet on the morning of her wedding. Amy is a triple nominated writer, gaining a nomination for three consecutive shows. Beyond writing for live work she was the lead writer on the multi-award nominated Emily Atack Show, The BAFTA winning Class Dismissed and wrote on (and starred in) CBBC's hit show Big Fat Like demonstrating she is a sharp joke writer whilst also excelling at long form and character work. In her double act The Delightful Sausage they have written to a brief and performed on shows such as Late Night Mash and Stand Up To Cancer which went out live on Channel 4. As well as writing a Radio 2 special The Delightful Sausage; On Staycations and a six part Radio 4 series where they interview children and write sketches around their questions called Big Little Questions. Amy co-hosts the hit podcast Northern News featured in The Guardian's Best Podcasts of 2023 so far…  Amy has been a guest on James Acaster and Ed Gamble's Off Menu and Richard Herring's RHLSTP as well as many more. If you're wondering how to deal with rejection and stay positive in the face of adversity - this episode is for you.    I brought on the Executive Director of the Julie Fund for Women's Cancer, Cheryl LaMee.    The mission of The Julie Fund for Women's Cancers is to fight women's cancers in three spaces: Education/Advocacy Research Patient Support The Julie Fund was founded in 2004 and has grown to become the single largest contributor to ovarian cancer research at Mass General Hospital.  In the past 17 years, The Julie Fund has donated over $4M in the fight against women's cancers. In 2003 – Forty-year-old Julie McAvinn, mother of three, was undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer and envisioned an organization that focused on easing the struggle. A year later, Julie lost her battle.  Julie's husband, Peter, together with a group of dedicated friends, started The Julie Fund.   A partnership was established with Massachusetts General Hospital to give social services to patients in need – transportation, childcare, health care, mortgage payments, etc. Today's episode will cover the history of the Julie Fund, the adversity Cheryl faces when applying for help with the Julie Fund, plus some inspiring stories to remind us to keep going when times get hard.    WE COULD USE YOUR HELP :)  Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the Julie Fund and Women's Cancer by May 1st, 2023. Jeffrey Allard is president and founder of Indie Entertainment, a San Francisco Bay Area film production company formed in 2002. Jeff has produced over 20 films which in total have grossed over $250 Million in world-wide sales. Jeff is most well-known for Executive Producing THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (2003 & 2006) alongside Michael Bay (Transformers), and for the critically acclaimed family comedy, PING PONG SUMMER which starred Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival before its theatrical release. Jeff is currently in post-production on THIRSTY starring Sung Kang (Fast & Furious) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer) and CONSUMED starring Devon Sawa (Casper, Final Destination) both of which will be released worldwide in 2023. He also produced THE ALTERNATE which is released worldwide in 2022. Recently, Jeff produced a half dozen feature films which include THE NIGHT starring Shahab Hosseini (The Salesman, Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film) which IFC acquired for theatrical release in 2021 and became the first US production to play theatrically in Iran since the Iranian revolution. The other recent releases include STARS FELL ON ALABAMA (James Maslow) released in 2021 by Samuel Goldwyn Meyer, STAR LIGHT (Scout Taylor-Compton), DON'T LEAVE HOME (Anna Margaret Hollyman), FOR THE LOVE OF GEORGE (Rosanna Arquette), and the award winning documentary, THE PUSH. Sara is an Emmy Winning Voice Director and  a three time Emmy Nominated Casting Director. She is currently casting and/or voice directing on projects for Apple, Netflix, Nickelodeon, Disney TV Animation, Fox, Cartoon Network, Warner Bros, Adult Swim, and HBO Max. ​Some of her recent projects include: ANIMANIACS, THE CUPHEAD SHOW, SCOOBY DOO, LOONEY TUNES CARTOONS, MY DAD THE BOUNTY HUNTER, TIG N SEEK, KRAPOPOLIS, Disney's EUREKA, Disney's HAMSTER AND GRETEL, and WOLFBOY AND THE EVERYTHING FACTORY. Before that, she was Jon Stewart's Head of Casting for his animated project with HBO. However, the majority of her casting career was at Disney Television Animation, where she spent 12 years learning how to cast an animated series.  She was the Executive Director of Casting and Talent Relations before leaving at the beginning of 2017.  She has worked on such hit shows as BIG HERO 6: THE SERIES, TANGLED EVER AFTER, MILO MURPHY'S LAW, PHINEAS AND FERB, GRAVITY FALLS, and STAR VS THE FORCES OF EVIL. After beginning her career in the windowless mailroom of Creative Artists Agency, Chloe's first role above the basement level of the agency was in the motion picture film finance and sales department. There she learned about the foundation of putting together a film, working with independent financiers and producers. Chloe then transitioned into the motion picture talent department, where she was able to fulfill her passion of working closely with some of the industry's brightest stars. After getting a taste of being at the center of the industry, Chloe took an opportunity to segue into a different role, managing renowned fashion designer and film director Tom Ford's new LA-based studio, where she had firsthand experience working directly with a fashion and business legend. After years of working for institutions like CAA and Tom Ford, Chloe was ready for a change of pace and took on roles in the talent partnerships space at some of tech's buzziest startups, including Verishop and now Bright, where she runs talent and brand partnerships strategy.   Today's guest is actor and career coach Ajarae Coleman.    Ajarae (she/her) is a Harvard-educated actress, producer, and career coach. Ajarae's credits include SCANDAL, NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, I'M SORRY, 2 BROKE GIRLS, REVENGE, DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and more. She also works extensively in commercials, having appeared in campaigns for brands like LUVS, VERIZON, and PANTENE.     Ajarae recently wrapped shooting a feature that is set for release in early 2023. She is also co-producing and starring in a short film about pregnancy loss and motherhood, after leading a successful campaign to finance it. She will appear in the upcoming series HIGH DESERT on AppleTV+ with Patricia Arquette and Matt Dillon.   Ajarae founded Acting Resource Guru in 2012 to give actors practical steps to book more work and take ownership of their careers. Her career and lifestyle coaching membership, The Table, empowers actors to book more work by building communities of collaborators, strengthening their mindset, and developing residual income streams that allow them to live in abundance while pursuing their creative dreams.
