“Just a shout out to everybody who's listening who has ever written a movie. This is a true story – I was writing a movie. I had been paid to write a movie and I was writing a movie when I got Late Night. And when I got Late Night, my first thought wasn't, 'Oh my god, I'm going to have my own talk show.' My first thought was, ‘Oh my god, I don't have to finish that screenplay. I'm so happy!'” says Seth Meyers, adding, “Anybody who can finish a screenplay – I have so much respect for you. It's so much harder than anything else. And that's the thing, when I watch a terrible movie, I always think, ‘Shout out to whoever finished it. They got three acts. All the characters had names, they did it!'”. In this episode, I talk with Emmy-winning talk show host and former SNL head writer Seth Meyers. Seth talks about his origins of becoming a comedy writer and performer, his time on SNL, what he looks for in a TV writer, and how Late Night with Seth Meyers has grown over the years as he celebrates the show's 10th anniversary. I also asked Seth about the best ways to get your voice as a writer to show through in your writing sample. He says it's difficult considering the highly competitive environment, but it comes down to making fresh choices. “The hardest thing I would have to do when I was at SNL was we would receive say, 200 packets of sketch submissions and we'd split them up amongst four of us. It was a slog – not because they were bad sketches but because we'd spent our whole year reading sketches and so you could tell when somebody was aiming to write an SNL script. But then, every now and then, sometimes it was just one line in a sketch, sometimes it was even a character's name, there would be something that would just sort of break through the noise, and you'd look at it and say, ‘Oh, I don't think I've ever seen anybody make that choice before.' So I just encourage people to try to do the thing that even you haven't seen,” says Seth. To hear more of what Seth Meyers has to say, listen to the podcast.

There's been a flurry of casting news surrounding Marvel Studios movie Thunderbolts this week. Top Gun: Maverick and Lessons in Chemistry star Lewis Pullman has an offer to replace Steven Yuen as Sentry after Yuen exited the project due to scheduling issues. Additionally, Geraldine Viswanathan is set to join the film replacing Ayo Edebiri, who is also departing the project due to her schedule. It is also said that audiences can expect to see Rachel Weisz and Laurence Fishbourne in the project portraying their respective MCU characters Melina Vostokoff and Bill Foster. Our pal James Gunn didn't leave us hanging this week with his announcement that Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl. Alcock is best known for playing young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen on HBO's House of the Dragon, part of the Game of Thrones universe. The Last of Us has secured their directing talent for season two and it's chock-full of award winners. Mark Mylod, who just won an Emmy for his work on the final season of HBO's Succession; Kate Herron, who directed the first season of the Marvel Studios series Loki; Stephen Williams, nominated for an Emmy for directing on HBO's Watchmen; and Nina Lopez-Corrado, nominated for an Imagen award for directing on season two of HBO's Perry Mason. Will Mom and Dad ever stop fighting? And by Mom and Dad of course we mean…Marvel and Sony. The studio giants are reportedly unable to see eye-to-eye about the direction Tom Holland's Spider-Man should go in a fourth Spider-man film. Sony is understandably trying to boost their Sonyverse with a crossover event that would include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men, but Marvel sees things differently. Marvel desires that Holland's Spider-Man continues with a more grounded approach that is intuitive to the character. Multiple Spider-Man appearances were scrapped from the upcoming Madame Web movie that Sony is putting out. Christopher Nolan's film Tenet will be rereleased in IMAX theaters from February 23 to March 1. The first trailer for the upcoming remake of the 1989 classic film Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal has been released. The film will debut on March 21. Tom Hollander, a British actor known for performances in Pride & Prejudice, the Pirates of the Caribbean films, The White Lotus, and The Night Manager, spoke on a recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers about a time he was mistakenly sent a box office bonus check meant for Tom Holland for his appearance in Avengers films. Hollander said "“It was an astonishing amount of money. It was not his salary. It was his first box-office bonus. Not the whole box-office bonus, the first one. And it was more money than I'd ever [seen]. It was a seven-figure sum.” A four-issue limited comic series called Darth Vader - Black White & Red will be on sale starting April 25. Colman Domingo will be starring as the legendary singer Nat King Cole in a movie musical from a script he co-wrote, Variety learned exclusively. He will also be making his feature directing debut on the project. After a year-long search for Trevor Noah's replacement on The Daily Show, former longtime host Jon Stewart has agreed to return to host the program. Stewart will appear weekly throughout the 2024 US Presidential election. While speaking to ComicBook.com about her Paramount+ series Special Ops: Lioness, Zoe Saldana said she would be willing to play more superhero roles as long as they didn't require the extensive makeup process used to create her MCU character of Gamora. "If it never gets to happen, or if it happens with other filmmakers, and not James Gunn, or if it happens again with James Gunn, I would be so grateful." Later this year, Marvel Comics will apply their What If...? concept to the Alien franchise. A five-issue run will be released, following the character Carter Burke and what happened after.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Patrick Droney over Zoom video!Patrick Droney grew up in the era of dedication lines and VHS tapes. He survives on sentimentality. It hits him every time he hears Delilah on the radio or passes by the Blockbuster sign near the bodega on his corner. The Brooklyn and Nashville based artist/producer/guitar sensation returns with his sophomore album, SUBTITLES FOR FEELINGS, which explores the idea that each frame of life holds a deeper context—a subtitle meant to be translated in time.Written and co-produced by Patrick Droney with collaborators including Foy Vance, Butch Walker, Jon Green, and Lori McKenna, the songs are a deepening of his timeless, cinematic pop sound. Rewind to May 2021, when Droney released his debut album, STATE OF THE HEART. With streams now in the hundreds of millions, the project was his own coming of age film, offering striking snapshots of the human condition in songs like “Glitter” and “The Wire.”Since then, he has toured extensively, selling out shows across the U.S. and making his U.K. debut with the Eagles at London's Hyde Park. He performed at Super Bowl LVII, claims alumni status at Late Night With Seth Meyers, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and has shared stages with Sheryl Crow, The Vamps, and more. He also released genre-bending collaborations with Kygo (“Say You Will”) and Billy F. Gibbons (“Rough Boy”).We want to hear from you! On the show today is LA native, music artist, filmtrepreneur, filmmaker and actor, Robert Schwartzman. Robert comes from a long line of musicians and film talents. He's related to industry names like Nicolas Cage (cousin), Sophia Coppola (cousin), Jason Schwartzman (brother), Francis Ford Coppola (uncle), etc. Growing up with these influencers, he ultimately went the same route - acting, studying film editing, and directing music videos. His career tipped slightly towards his passion for musical he became the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the band Rooney. We did a deep dive into Robert's newest venture, AltaVOD, a self-distribution platform for feature films. It's a split structure, direct-to-consumer video-on-demand platform that eliminates the middleman (buyer) to support creators directly. I put Robert to the test and asked him hard questions about AltaVOD and he passed with flying colors. When he is not building tech companies to help filmmakers, Robert has been known to act a bit. He began his acting career in Sophia Coppola's short film Lick the Star and her directorial debut The Virgin Suicides. Even though these were Robert's first acting experiences, he had already learned much about behind-the-camera technical skills. He shadowed and learned from Sophia and other relatives as much as he could.A clique of school girls devise a secret plan that they code-name "Lick the Star".The Virgin Suicides is about a group of male friends who become obsessed with five mysterious sisters who are sheltered by their strict, religious parents in suburban Detroit in the mid-1970s.In 2001, director Gary Marshell offered Roberts a role on box office success, The Princess Diaries as Michael Moscovitz, Lilly's older brother, harbors romantic feelings for Mia (Anne Hathaway).Mia Thermopolis has just found out that she is the heir apparent to the throne of Genovia. With her friends Lilly and Michael Moscovitz in tow, she tries to navigate through the rest of her sixteenth year. He's utilized his music career to produce soundtracks for shows like Late Night With Seth Meyers, Pretty Little Liars, Switched At Birthed, Demi Lovato: Live at Wembley Arena, Princess Diaries, and many others. It was cool chatting with Robert and bringing you guys (tribe) new avenues and resources to share your work cost-effectively. Enjoy my conversation with Robert Schwartzman.
John DeDomenici has played the bass in many bands. But most notably Jeff Rosenstock's solo band and Bomb the Music Industry. He also played a whole variety of instruments in Arrogant Sons of Bitches. Today, we bring on John and throw every random and obscure question we can think at him. We talk about catching Covid in England, getting his own dressing room at the Gaslight Anthem Jersey show, drunkenly cutting his hand trying to open a bottle of wine, and joining Chris Gethard at Fest in a Smiths cover band. We also talk about green-screening his bass performance to Late Night With Seth Meyers, the time he almost joined Every Time I Die, and why he likes to listen to a punishing amount of 311 and Metallica cover songs. Plus he even tells us about the time in 2004 he did live sound for Donald Trump. Spoiler Alert, Trump was not a good guy. Support the show

Emily in Paris' Ashley Park and More Stars Testing Positive for COVID-19www.msn.comThe pandemic isn't over. Just as it did in 2020 and 2021, Hollywood's A-list continues to be affected by COVID-19 in 2022 — but they largely attribute their fast recoveries to vaccines. In January, Late Night With Seth Meyers only returned from holiday break for one show before suddenly having to go on hiatus amid the omicron variant's prevalence.“The bad news is, I tested positive for COVID (thanks, 2022!) the good news is, I feel fine (thanks vaccines and booster!),” Seth Meyers wrote via Twitter on January 4. “We are canceling the rest of the shows this week, so tune in next Monday to see what cool location we will try and pass off as a studio!!!”Meyers' fellow NBC late night host Jimmy Fallon revealed a day prior that he'd recently recovered from COVID-19. The Saturday Night Live alum made it clear that he tested negative before returning to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on January 3.“Hey guys, on the first day of our holiday break I tested positive for Covid,” he captioned a photo via Instagram of himself masked in a room marked “reserved for testing use.” The room was decorated with an iconic Diff'rent Strokes quote, which Fallon appreciated. He continued, “I was vaccinated and boostered which made me lucky enough to only have mild symptoms. Thank you to the doctors and nurses who work so hard around the clock to get everyone vaxxed. Thank you to NBC for taking the testing protocols so seriously and doing a great job – and also thanks for putting me in the ‘What ‘chu talkin' about Willis?' isolation room when they told me the news.”In the comments section, Fallon told a fan that he completely recovered, writing, “The positive came back on 12/18. Back at work today and feeling 100%!”The NBC hosts both advocated for vaccination. As of January, the CDC recommended a booster shot for people over age 16 five months after completing the primary series. Meyers and Fallon each had a booster before testing positive.Similarly, Whoopi Goldberg also had a breakthrough case amid the highly contagious variant's spread. Her View cohost Joy Behar announced the news on January 3 and said the Sister Act star was expected to be fully recovered within a week.“Why am I here instead of Whoopi? Well, Whoopi, unfortunately, tested positive over the break, but she'll be back probably next week,” Behar explained. “Since she's vaxxed and boosted, her symptoms have been very, very, mild. But we're being super cautious here at The View.”The daytime talk show opted to film remotely for the week in the midst of Goldberg's positive test.“They say there's no place like home for the holidays and that's exactly where we are this year,” Behar said. “Happy New Year from all of our living rooms. As you can see, we're back in boxes and doing the show remotely — hopefully for just a week. I'm praying that it's just a week, but you never know because this omicron thing is all over the place.”See the stars who have tested positive for COVID-19 in 2022:☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon---------------------------------------------------#face #instagram #amour #take #couple #garden #tiktok #psychology #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #ForYouPizza #fyp #irobot #theend #pups #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing

Now is a particularly exciting time to talk to Amber Ruffin, an improvisation-trained comedy performer and writer whose talent, perseverance, and upbeat charm have led to her own late night variety series. Peacock’s “The Amber Ruffin Show” allows the multihyphenate host to both indulge in the silliest comedic premises and cover current events with a refreshing directness otherwise rare in late night television. Her advice to fellow creators and comedians is to take risks, have no shame, and be prolific. “You have to have a pile of work that you can point to and go, ‘I can do this and here’s the proof.’ ” Amber grew up a theater kid in Omaha, Nebraska, before training in improv and sketch comedy at Boom Chicago Amsterdam, the iO Theater, and the Second City. She’s appeared on Comedy Central’s “Drunk History,” written for awards show specials and series including “A Black Lady Sketch Show,” and in 2014 became the first Black woman to write for a network talk show on NBC’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” which has earned her four Primetime Emmy nominations. On the show today is LA native, music artist, filmtrepreneur, filmmaker and actor, Robert Schwartzman. Robert comes from a long line of musicians and film talents. He’s related to industry names like Nicolas Cage (cousin), Sophia Coppola (cousin), Jason Schwartzman (brother), Francis Ford Coppola (uncle), etc. Growing up with these influencers, he ultimately went the same route - acting, studying film editing, and directing music videos. His career tipped slightly towards his passion for musical he became the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the band Rooney. We did a deep dive into Robert’s newest venture, AltaVOD, a self-distribution platform for feature films. It’s a split structure, direct-to-consumer video-on-demand platform that eliminates the middleman (buyer) to support creators directly. I put Robert to the test and asked him hard questions about AltaVOD and he passed with flying colors. When he is not building tech companies to help filmmakers, Robert has been known to act a bit. He began his acting career in Sophia Coppola’s short film Lick the Star and her directorial debut The Virgin Suicides. Even though these were Robert’s first acting experiences, he had already learned much about behind-the-camera technical skills.

He unveiled another side of himself on the five-track Cape Elizabeth EP, which he completed within six days in April 2020. The opener and first single “Troubled Mind” pairs sparse delicately plucked acoustic guitar with a soft and soothing vocal. “When you hear Cape Elizabeth, I want you to feel like you can escape for a second,” he leaves off. “I want you to feel recognized and know your thoughts aren't scary or crazy. I hope you're drawn into the stories and connect to the characters in the lyrics. Relax, chill out, listen to this, and look out the window. This is my ‘Thank You' to the fans who stuck around, came to shows, watched my livestreams, and listened.” Please go and follow Noah Kahan at: Facebook: http://facebook.com/noahkahanmusic Instagram: http://instagram.com/noahkahanmusic Twitter: http://twitter.com/noahkahan Spotify: https://republic.lnk.to/NoahKahanSpYD SoundCloud: http://soundcloud.com/noahkahan *** You can follow me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/MKLikesMusic --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/matthias-kaseorg/support
Comedian Michelle Wolf talks with Andy Richter about being encouraged to fart in her youth, writing for Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Daily Show, and the disproportionate response to her White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
We’re rounding out our second week sheltering in place here at the Televerse, and while the world is full of stressors right now, thankfully there’s been a lot of interesting TV to help us take our minds off of them. We kick things off this this episode with our week in comedy and reality, starting with an update on how Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and Late Night with Seth Meyers are handling their at-home shoots. Then we look at the return of One Day at a Time, the antepenultimate Schitt’s Creek, J.K. Simmons’ guest spot on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Ball Ball. Next we head over to the genre and drama offerings, glancing by two emotional, draining Steven Universe Future episodes (because great as they are, we just don’t have the bandwith right now) and diving in with Batwoman, Supergirl, and the finale of Stumptown. Then Noel stans for Guy’s Grocery Games and we head over to the season spotlight section. Both Noel and Kate were excited by the promise shown in the Star Trek: Picard premiere. Did the rest of the season hold up, and should you seek out the show, now that CBS All Access has dropped its paywall, at least for Picard? Tune in, then reach out with your thoughts on Picard, One Day at a Time, Stumptown, and more. And don’t forget to stop by next week as Noel, Kate, and friend of the show Allison Shoemaker continue their journey through Lucifer with week two of Streaming In Place.Season Spotlight: Star Trek: Picard Season 1 (1:10:29)Our Week in Comedy and Reality Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and Late Night with Seth Meyers (14:06) One Day at a Time premiere (22:11) Schitt’s Creek (25:49) Brooklyn Nine-Nine (30:58) RuPaul’s Drag Race (33:29)Our Week in Genre and Drama Steven Universe Future (41:39) Batwoman (45:11) Supergirl (51:38) Stumptown finale (57:11) Guy’s Grocery Games (1:05:05)Music Featured: “Stay United” by Raphael Lake & Aaron Levy; “Take The Money And Run” by The Steve Miller Band Videos Mentioned: A dispatch from The Doctor; Southside Bonnie has a few words for COVID-19 deniers; Look, it’s a dog doing yoga!
"The trouble is, people don't understand comedy is an organic process. So if some blogger or someone catches you trying this joke for the first time, they think you do this every night. That this was your intention. When it may have been just an idea swimming in your head that day." -Fahim Anwar Fahim Anwar is a Los Angeles-based Standup Comedian, Actor and Writer. Formerly an Aerospace engineer at Boeing , Fahim traded the cubicle for the stage and has never looked back. His Afghan parents however plead with him to look back nearly every day. Off the momentum of his one hour Amazon special THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS, The New York Times listed Fahim as a "Most Promising Future Star." He's appeared on CONAN, LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS and performed at the prestigious Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal. His recent FILM/TV credits include WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT, NEIGHBORS, DRUNK HISTORY, CARMICHAEL SHOW and SUPERIOR DONUTS to name a few. Fahim served as head writer and starred on a sketch show special for Comedy Central with his comedy group (GOATFACE) which includes Hasan Minhaj from THE PATRIOT ACT. Off the success of the sketch show special, Fahim was named by Variety Magazine as one of 2019 Comics to Watch, and was invited to be a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast. On this episode of Stories of Transformation, we get to see a different side of Fahim--not the performer, but the man he is off the stage (although he does get a few jokes in). We look at how Fahim's life experiences and world view as a minority have culminated to his approach to comedy as an art form today. Some main points and questions discussed are:The heightened sensitivity to political correctness these days and what it means for comedyWhat Fahim means when he says, "your audience is your editor"Do more funny things happen to comedians?Fahim's upbringing in a traditional Afghan family and the rocky road to his parents' acceptance hat he will no longer be an engineer, but rather a comedianThe importance of taking time off to go into "observer mode" rather than being in "performer mode" all the timeFahim's strategic approach to pursuing comedy as a careerFahim's ratio of lighthearted joking to real truth, which he uses to inject truth in a way that doesn't make the audience feel they're being preached at and therefore more willing to listenWhy Fahim says in order to really be successful as a comedian, you need to be part performer and part hackerWhy Fahim says many ethnic comedians are wearing "creative handcuffs" “Funny things happen to everyone. Standup comedians are wired a certain way where they don’t let those ideas go away. They can catch those butterflies. My mind is in tune, ready to receive these ideas, whereas it escapes the average person.”-Fahim Anwar Follow/Support Fahim Anwar:Website: http://fahimanwar.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/fahimanwarYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/user/goatfacecomedyInstagram: instagram.com/fahimanwarPodcast: https://goo.gl/gdXQRuOne-hour Standup Special: https://amzn.to/39mu6FX We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees (at no extra cost to you) by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. Late Night with Seth Meyers writer Karen Chee joins host Jackie Jennings to share how her love of the Harry Potter books and films shaped her childhood and, dare she say it, college years. The two discuss what it means to be a Hufflepuff and a Ravenclaw and even reveal some of their biggest crushes from the franchise. But Karen is not just a nerd for the magically British; she has a passion for British comedy that goes deep, like fan theory deep. In celebration of Harry Potter's birthday in July, Boarding Party will be talking with comedians about their love for the Potterverse, be it the books, the films, the fan fiction, the parks, the author, or anything else.
Julio is joined by guest co-host Antonia Cereijido of Latino USA to discuss the tragedy and horror of six migrant children who have died in U.S. custody in the last eight months. This week, Castro went on Late Night With Seth Meyers to talk about his plan and to call out Democrats' lack of action on this issue. They also discuss the latest collaboration between another 2020 candidate, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who called out Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin for his shady corporate dealings. Conversation #19, recorded on February 5th 2013. Mike Lawrence is a stand-up, writer and actor. The great Jesse Murray returns for the first time in this podcast run to talk about the first season of Orphan Black, and what we've seen thus far of Season 2. Then he joins us to go Around The Dial with discussion of Playing House, Season 1 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Penny Dreadful, and RuPaul's Drag Race. Tara addresses the Tiny Triumph (or is it?!) of Late Night With Seth Meyers getting a bigger guest chair (or did they?!); Sarah and Tara consider the matter of Black Box and whether it's worse than jazz. Jesse submits the "Cherie Lifesaver" episode of Punky Brewster to The Canon, and then after the week's Winner and Loser, it's back to regulation Game Time! Unless you're on the run from religious wackos, you have no excuse not to listen. GUESTS
