In this episode, Matt and Adam recap some recent news such as the first Buck Up tour stop, and they once again talk about the saga of which skiers are skiing where, and as of the airing of this episode they are wrong again. In the main interview, they talk with Dave Passehl and Brad Keuschel of the Shawano Ski Sharks, a show skiing team with a rich history dating back to 1976. They explore the team's origins, challenges faced over the years, and the recent growth in membership and community engagement. The Ski Sharks have seen massive growth rooted site improvements and community engagement. They delve into the specifics of hosting events, particularly the Big Pull, and the challenges and successes of tournament hosting. The conversation concludes with aspirations for the team's future, including the possibility of moving to Division 1 competition. This week's sponsors are....FlymanSkis - custom made jump skis and Featherboard swivel skis at affordable prices, get yours at flymanskis.com. Something To Talk About is continuing to publish across the summer break, and will be back with a brand new episode on January 12. In the meantime, we are revisiting some of your favourites from the 50 episodes we released over the past year. Today’s conversation is with Kate Langbroek, which originally aired May 18, 2024. *** It’s been five years since Kate Langbroek and her husband and four children packed up to move to Italy – a decision that to this day has people stopping her in the street to discuss. Now firmly entrenched back into the reality of life back in Australia, we decided it was time to sit down with the always entertaining - and always unpredictable - Kate to shamelessly pick her brains for an update on the whole work/life/family ratio in mid 2024. Apart from her thoughts on ‘shadow labour’, and the often thankless work performed by many across the country, day in and day out, host Sarrah Le Marquand asks Kate about the “glamour gap” that exists between male and female television presenters when it comes to the VERY large difference in time spent in hair and make-up. So, given Kate describes herself as “a lazy dresser” - as she says, even her boots have to have zips as she can’t be bothered doing up laces - would the “glamour gap” be a dealbreaker if she were to be offered the TV job of her dreams? Kate also chats about her apparent witching powers, and opens up experiencing anxiety for the first time in her life, and how her husband’s response unexpectedly inspired her latest project. You can hear Kate Langbroek on the The Buck Up wherever you get your podcasts. The Milwaukee Bucks are on the verge of the NBA Finals (0:00), and doing it without Giannis? Rather Impressive. We break down game 4 and preview game 5 to see if Bobby Portis and Brook Lopez can work their magic yet again. And will Trae Young play? Spencer gives his opinion as a former "athlete" on dealing with a bone bruise. Next up, the Euros semi-finals are set (30:42), and England look... legit? After a 4-0 thrashing of Ukraine, the Brits are the bookie's favorite to lift the trophy. Does that cause Spencer to waiver on his Italy predicition? (Spoiler Alert: I stick to my guns, except when I don't). And finally, congrats to the Tampa Bay Lightning on winning the Stanley Cup (50:57). Second hour of the show starts with us hitting the ice after talking all football for the first hour. Kris Letang is either public enemy number one or the greatest gift to hockey ever when it comes to Penguins twitter. Crowley tells you why there can be a little column A and column B there, but one thing is for sure, he has got to start playing the way the rest of the team has been all year long. Seth Rorabaugh then hops on the program to share with us his piece about GMJR and give some thoughts on Letang and the egg the team laid last night against Florida. We then close the hour with as always the great unsponsored football segment filled with knowledge and fun brought to you by to be determined.
Cathy and Todd discuss the difference between telling your kid to buck up and offering them consolation, and why it's not one or the other, it's both.
